Sooner or later they all tik, various causes though, some are easy to fix. I know of one that ticks when it’s cold and on the center stand but not on the side stand. On my South African C500 finding the tick was a bit deeper than yours but after fixing it, I deleted all the clean air crap including the cat, and I’ve never been happier with its performance. my French C500 is still stock for various reasons, but that’s a much newer model, 20 k km and so far no tick yet! Nice video, thx!

Wow that's bloody brilliant! My 2021 Classic 500 has idled unevenly from day one! And also takes quite a bit of cranking to start, and I reckon you've nailed it mate, thank you 🙏 I'll also remove all that junk and let you know if that sorts it out. Great stuff!

The first thing I did with all my bikes, ditch the charcoal cannisters and the secondary air induction systems. They're nonsense. They say the charcoal cannister should rattle when you shake it,the charcoal is in small bead form, when they're quiet on shaking they're saturated in fuel and useless. First time you overfill the fueltank they're ruined. Great piece of problem solving and persistence.

The cause can also be a rear silencer that is clogged with baffles. Just install an old rear silencer that you still have lying around.

Good job at sorting the issue. She's a lovely bike, worthy of all the attention you've given it. I think if you check again you'll find that Hitchcocks do indeed have the inlet manifold that you're looking for in stock. Part #571091.

Only the other day I was wondering why the revs kept rising and falling on mine while sat idling, when I bought the bike the charcoal cannister was leaking fuel, just kept filling up, I've managed to do the air injection delete like yours but haven't touched anything else, cannister and pipes still on the bike Thank you for this I'll go investigate 👍🏼

My Himalayan is euro 5 ,does not have cannister . I think you are correct in thinking pre ignition but i think that was due to the air leak on the map sensor due to the diaphram letting it suck air in on an engine that is alread running weak due to emission laws. Now it has no air leaks it does run a lot better and i have had to weaken off the adjustable fuel module i have fitted because without the air leak was a bit to rich now.

Could the bike going over a few times cause fuel to clog the cannister? The idle revs up and down on my 22 Himalayan also. I thought it was the Throttle position sensor out of adjustment. I tryed to reset the TPS to .56 of an Amp as specified in other videos on the tube. Captivating watching your expertise in these situations, Ian. Appreciate you!

My Himalayan is euro 5 and does not have a cannister. I have a tec cam in my engine and because it's euro 5 had to fit an Xlite fuel module which richens up the fuel system right through the range. Cam and Xlite best money you can spend on the Himalayan. The Xlite fixes poor starting stops engine from stalling and cures the engine revs from going up and down. If your bike is euro 4 ( has ECU under the seat , euro 5 is part of the throttle body) fit a fuel booster plug it will fix it. The problem is the engine is set to weak due to emission laws and causes all sorts of problems also depends where you live the more above sea level the worse it will be.

Greetings, mechanic friend, as you know I drive a Scram. I've been working on cars and bikes for 35 years and I'm a perfectionist like you who wants everything to be perfect. My friends once said you can even hear the walnuts cracking on the trees. Do you also have this problem on your Himalayan? But now to the problem: Actually, a blued manifold at the beginning of the exhaust port (for the first 5-8 cm it should only be gold-colored, then it can start to turn blue) indicates pre-ignition. In addition, all Euro 5 models are set too lean. Can't you use it as a test from the Himalayan? For an experimental purpose? I'll take a look at it at my Scram this weekend. This activated carbon box and the secondary air system have always bothered me. I hope my English is somewhat understandable and a translator helped me.

My Euro 5 Himalayan doesn't have a charcoal cannister on it. I have a TEC cam and X Lite fuel module fitted in that. It works perfectly now. The Bullet I think you are correct about the cause of the front pipe going blue as being too weak and pre-ignition. Now that I have removed the cannister and blocked the airleak at the map sensor it has richened the system up as it is no longer sucking air in. Even to the point that I have had to back off the adjustment on the fuel module I fitted as it was now running a bit too rich. The bike now runs lovely and smooth for a bullet lol.

@@iantoy7778 I also find the Tec camshaft very interesting. I think this will make the emissions worse. Unfortunately, the testing organizations and police controls have become very strict here in recent years. In an emergency, I always have to rebuild before the test date.

Yeah you are right but I walk in the workshop every day and just stand and look at it where the NC750x was stood in the workshop and was just something to chuck my coat on every day. A good bike but soulless.

Once you get the little issues sorted out Ian, you're going to have a brilliant bike. You will have bonded with it and it will be a joy to ride. Little tip .... Could you clip the microphone to your shirt or something as sometimes it can be hard to hear you clearly. But all brilliant information as usual. Will be useful to a lot of folk out there.
