My Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a year old today!, what a fantastic bike it has been and so much fun to own! If you enjoyed this check out my playlist for my Royal enfield Classic 350, thanks! • Royal Enfield Classic 350
I could not agree with your comments about the benefits of riding the back roads on a motorbike. I have only managed 14,000 miles over the past 4 summers but have definitely enjoyed them more due to the (relatively) low power of my NC750X. The backroads are so enjoyable I seldom go any distance on the main roads now. If the Classic 350 had been on the market 5 years ago I would most likely be riding one today. Look forward to your videos and I might even watch the open (a 1st for me) in the hope of seeing a classic 350 in the background offroading through the bunkers 😝👍
Very interesting trip and tour, thanks! I think the Classic 650 will be absolutely stunning, especially in the Chrome/Colour paint scheme and a lot of the early adopters of the Super Meteor will be spitting feathers they didn't wait for the Classic version. I can't wait to see it
Yet more inspiration from you Bruce - thank you. I've had mine since April (Gunmetal Grey) and Iove it. My Fiancé Kelly, loves it too. A brilliant two-up bike with loads of room and comfort for pillion. I've covered about 1500 miles now and it gets better every mile. Thanks again Bruce 👍
You were at home on those back roads and in the picturesque, open countryside . The 350 Classic fitted the locality really well too. Please keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Like others I started with a Honda CB175 in 1970, then the CB350, the Classic 350 for me is as good if not better than them. For me now the best bike for the roads of today, you can enjoy the power without the need for all the electronics of modern high powered bikes. On big bikes you are always frustrated by speed limits while the Classic just relaxes you . Great video as always Bruce, keep them coming 😊
Thanks Peter and so true what you say about the Classic 350 being ideal on country roads of today, the world is in such a rush nowadays but on the 350 you just lose yourself and find yourself 😁👍 2 wheeled Yoga 😁
Great vid Bruce. My first bike was a 1972 CB175 which I loved. My Meteor brings me back 40 yeas to the days touring around the lakes outside of Halifax NS on it. I don't believe I have ever taken a summer off from riding in 50 years, and have some stories to tell as well. 😃 I love the old saying, "You never see a motorcycle parked outside a Psychiatrists office". I subscribe to a number of RU-vid channels and yous is tops. Thanks. 🙂 Cheers 🥃
Thanks Lance and I loved my CB 175, also had the plain Jane single carb CD 175, those engines were near indestructible! Fun days and fun days again on the 350! 😁👍🍺🍺🍺
I bought a 350 Classic (in part) because of your thoughts. (It arrives in the next week or so!) I hope you keep this going. I love watching your videos. Ride safely.
I echo your biking sentiments 100%, at 62 I’m done with risky fast riding heart stopping moments and collecting points on my license. The 350 Classic is just a complete joy, and like you say, E5 fuel is definitely the way to go.
Thanks for taking me along on the ride! Love the country side! If you ever make it to North Carolina, come take a ride! I have an extra bike you can ride!
Good video again. Yes, you don't need to spend loads on this bike as it's so good out the box. Stage 2 air filter, electric gizmo for fuel and the decat pipe only as I like the look and sound of stock silencer, the decat pipe just makes it a bit louder. Will get a solo rack next and that will be it. 15 months and 4000 miles, I like the bike more and more with time.
Enjoying your content, I have the Signals in Desert Sand color set up like yours but with Shenko 705s. Next week I am embarking on a 2k+ mile ride through the Appalachia mountains in the US. Your videos confirmed that this 350 is a great touring bike and an all-day rider. Thanks, from Florida!
Awesome stuff Bruce. I like Bumble my Meteor. Only problem I have is being a short arse, 27 inch inside leg. I even put on the low seat. Am tippy tip toes, which with my medical issues, some days I really struggle. Moving, parking and the wee lip pushing her back into garage. Friday trip is looming. If it rains then be taking the Mokka. Anyway, the road miles you have put on your bike, is a testament that, if serviced and odd oil n filter change, they will run and run. They just love the roads that you drive on, for sure. Just did my mpg…….76.5. I didn’t hammer her, 65 max, but mostly 55 - 60 on open road. It’s nice having choice, as I now got a Honda Rebel 500. Man, great to get 2 feet flat, and installs so much more confidence. But the Meteor has a much better riding and comfort position.😊 I would love a bigger Royal Enfield, but I canna touch the ground. So no point, will look a the new Triumph 400. I know that the Speed Twin 900, is tip toes, so, it’s slightly better height wise than Meteor, but £9k😢 Am all over place here, lol. Nice to see the golf course etc. much work for an open, I guess. The DNA plate n filter, is a must. Totally transformed the Meteor. That’s the only mode. Take care brother.😊
Just a wee thanks from me Your videos along with some from others on RU-vid inspired me to get a classic 350 in May this year to go along with my old roulette green triumph speed triple It’s a totally different kind of motorcycling be so much fun exploring back roads Perfect for Scottish roads, I stay in Glasgow area, have enjoyed the beautiful countryside we have here which sometimes gets missed on the speed triple as your concentrating on the next overtake, bend etc Thanks again 😜
I enjoy your videos and content very much! It's great to see another person that is budget conscious and real enjoys and uses their bike for the experience. I don't know how to explain what I mean exactly; maybe cares for but doesn't baby it. My bikes are my primary transportation year round in the States which is uncommon. I care for them because I need them to be healthy to do their job. They're not garage queens that impress other, but give me joy and experiences no car has been able to match. An old jeep might come close though 😂. It was great to see and learn a little about some of the Greens Keepers job.
Hi David, thanks for coming to say hi and I do love using the bike as much as possible!, so much fun and cheap fun at that! 😁 Be some shorts on Greenkeeping next few days for those interested 👍 Cheers Bruce
I love what you have done to the bike. I always thought I would eventually get the classic chrome, but I think the signals version looks great and alot less fussy when it comes to cleaning
Totally with you. I managed to survive all the the fast sports bike stuff. Bought a classic 500 last year and it's been a revelation. Taking me back to the early days of BSA singles etc. Totally love it. Haven't ridden the new 350 yet though. I think the 500 gives a bit more of the old classic single feel. I don't think it vibrates, it just shakes around a bit!!! Recently back from a brilliant week away camping and touring all the single track roads of mid Wales. Fabulous. Thanks for all your efforts in putting these vids together.
Thanks Tim for watching and your support and comments 😁👍 I still dance a drum brake Bullet in the garage, just for the Classic lines, noise, and nostalgia 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce, I really enjoy the green keeping content, it's interesting what other people do for a job. Did I imagine in previous videos you saying you wanted a red & chrome classic 350 and also the Desert Sand version? Anyway, enjoyable video. All the best, Ian
Hi Ian, I could quite happily own 3 Classics! A shiney red and chrome for summer days, and a desert rat slightly modded for green laning would keep me happy 😁👍👍👍 Cheers Bruce
Alright that’s it. East Lothian in July it is for my proper trip around that gorgeous land. A bit afraid the touristy spots will be a bit full but hey, that’s the cost of seeing the land now and not when I actually lived there. It’s ironic, back then I had the time but was skint and homesick. Now I’m at home and got a fair bit of dosh, what’s lacking is the time. And don’t get rid of the 350. Seems to be the perfect little bike for you. Great sound as well.
I will always keep my 350!, I’ve already talked myself out spending 5K on a 650 twin just to be able to go over 75mph! 🤣😁👍 Be some cheap used Classic 350s coming up for sale in the next year or so with low mileage so prob be a shiney chrome 350 added for summer days 😁👍
@@Coastriderscotland I saw a Scram 411 in good nick up for sale pretty close by my parts. About 3500 GBP. Can't say I'm not tempted if it wasn't for me being so bloody tall.
Cheers Bruce. I agree with you- I’d rather have my new Meteor than a second hand bike, for less money. Like you, I’ve spent too much time fixing the older bikes when I could have been riding them. The Royal Enfield’s just start and run but are so easy to work on for routine servicing, customisation and updates and parts are readily available! Thanks again.
Hi John, there is a growing theme with these bikes and all owners seem to love them 😁 A great comment is we’re going back to sensible bikes, but modern reliability 😁👍👍👍
Like it mate. Lots are going smaller bikes unless your a poser. I’ve had 50cc to 1300cc me and my son went to join o groats on a 125 grom and me on a 125 cub from the Peak District 1500 miles. Great ride. I’m going to do it again on my hunter 350.
Such a relaxing bike to ride, and enjoyable videos, every time I watch them. It's making me more impatient waiting for Wednesday when I go to pick up my Gunmetal grey classic, I've had my Interceptor for three years and 10,000 miles and after a test ride on the classic found it to be much more comfortable than the Interceptor, better seat ,better footrest positioning and the relaxed throb of that single cylinder engine down the lanes is marvellous. , I don't think I'll regret trading my Interceptor in for it . Cheers for your great videos, keep 'em coming! 👍
Have to agree with Bruce, Gunmetal Grey looks awesome. I was planning to buy Chrome one, but then I saw the grey one in flesh... Well to buy a different colour would have meant to wait a month for delivery, but it is different story. But I was a bit (a lot) disappointed that I have to wait for my first motor check a MUST NOT breach 500kms before that. What a pain!
@@Coastriderscotland I've now picked it up and the ride home from the dealer was brilliant, and yes the bike looks so much better in the metal than on the pictures, love it, and it was getting plenty of looks in the traffic and sat at the lights, and the thump of that engine makes you grin as you ride along, 😁🙌
Always enjoy your videos Bruce, loved the transitions from standard to how the classic is now , I'm looking forward to my next road trip to the isle of man on my hunter with my friends meteor in the beginning of August. I've just clocked up about 2500 miles in two months and it just gets better , interestingly I've had a GPS 80mph ( on a test track ) in the hunter 😮
As an american (in Utah) who works on our roads, I always like to check out the asphalt work in other countries. Even as small country roads go these don't look all that bad, mostly clean, not too many pot holes. I can see the asphalt seam work in areas separating, probably due to the heating and cooling with all the water you get. My main interstate highways here are 3-7 lanes wide and up to 80MPH in this state. With that said, 70 top speed is fine for me. I'm seriously considering the classic 350 as my second bike, my first is an Interceptor 650. Great video!
Thanks for an insight on your roads, and I learned a bit about our roads! 😁👍 the 35p is such a great wee bike, you will love it when you have a 650 that you can use for that top end buzz when required 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Hey mate, ref fuel: There's quite a bit of leeway regarding the octaine level in petrol. Supermarket fuel barely reaches the octaine level advertised. Other petrol stations sell fuel that is quite often of a higher octaine level than stated. Lower octaine means the engine has to work harder and therefore burns more fuel. You save nothing buying from Supermarkets.
Thanks Jez, my main gripe is local businesses closing by the big men under pricing, I know our VXR Astra and Mustang both run way bet with E5 fuel from local Jet garage than Asda E10 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Have to confess when I was young I caddied instead of doing a paper round. Mainly because if you got an American the tips were great. But I still find golf like watching paint dry. Sorry. As for the Enfield 350 Modern bikes are bland plastic high tech mode rockets . Very thrilling but with zero character or soul and I just got bored of them Hence the reason I got rid of a Kawasaki 900 and went old school Enfield 350. What a breath of fresh air they are.
I'd really like this bike in an army green, but I suppose the signals marsh grey is the closest. The airforce blue one is nice too, but I don't think it's available in the UK. So many nice colours to choose from, but I do like the military style.
Lovely video Bruce and you have a cracking part time job as groundsman. Congratulations with regards to 1 year of trouble free riding. My 350 classic will be a year old, middle of this month with 3700 happy miles of riding. However last week the speedo stuck at 50 when I was doing 30mph. I sorted it thanks to Wharro's video. Have you had any issues with your bikes speedometer.? Thanks again Carl.
@@Coastriderscotland thanks for your reply. The problem started when I left it on the drive in direct sunlight and the clocks were really hot. As per the Warro video I sprayed the speedometer connection inside the headlamp with electrical contact cleaner. It sorted the problem for a few days but the problem recurred with the needle sticking at 50mph. Again cleaned the connectors and so far been ok . Just for your info. Carl.👍
Hi Seeker I replaced the CAT with a straight bit pipe and fitted a shorty £60 eBay bottle tail pipe which is a bit louder and free flowing, also fitted the DNA/Stage2 air filter/end cap which increases induction noise and a bit more mid range power 😁👍
Another very interesting video !😊 I noticed that Hitchcocks are doing a performance cam for this bike. Have you thought about that or are you happy with the way yours is with the mods you have done already ?
Hi David, not been on the Hitchcocks site for a few weeks, will go have a browse 😁 I would like to have a ride on one with their cam fitted 🧐😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce, great vid as usual, did i spot a renthal handlebar brace on your bike? 8,000 mls. in a year, some people don't even manage 800 🤭 650 classic 🤔 that would be interesting to see. SS
Hi yep it’s a cross brace from an old pair of max bars I fitted to the stock bars, mostly for a different look but also to add a Go Pro mounts for when I wear an open face helmet I picked up 👍😁
Hi, I went for the classic 350 purely on the old look harking back to the halcyon days of motorcycles, and made my 350 look like them, but I’m sure The Scram 411 will be a good bike, you should get a test ride on both at a dealers maybe? 👍😁 Cheers Bruce
hi Bruce can you please tell me where you got the handlebars from and how you managed to fix the handlebars. how thick is the 22.2mm or thicker? …the problem is to fix the handlebars properly.. the standard handlebars are not the problem other handlebars are the problem 🍻 cheers Sil
Hi Sil, I swapped the stock bars for Stooge Moto Desert bars I bought from Ace Desert bikes London, they were 22.2 I found the bend a bit too straight and a bit lower for long days riding - I did 300+ mile days in the Highlands, so once home refitted the stock bars after adding an old Renthal MX cross bar brace I had spare mostly for looks and adding A camera mount 👍😁 Cheers Bruce
Hello from the USA. Video inspired me to purchace classic 350 and now I dream of driving through Skye. Enfield and Scotland should pay you for the good work.😊 Got a guestion. MY classic 350 (340 miles) sounds like rod knocking during deceleration after motor heats up (after 5 miles or so). Does yours? First service was completed by dealer and they say all sounds normal. Oh and your driving on the wrong side of the road. Lol
Hi Mike!, Skye was fantastic on the 350! 👍❤️ The engines can sound knocking until run in and they do take over 1000 until they really smooth out so try not worry to much 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Wonder if you think the Classic would be suitable for an almost 8000 mile trip. I’m riding next year to the top of Alaska and making the trip on a smaller bike has a strange appeal.
Hi I would not hesitate to do a big trip on the Classic 350, as it is so comfortable, economical and easy to work on yourself with minimum tools 👍 Tubed tyres also require just basic repairs if punctures, my bike has not needed any oil top ups between services unlike some other modern engines, so yep I say go for it! 👍👍👍👍😁 Cheers Bruce
WTF! "Posted 2 Minutes ago" ... and I am still not the first person to click "Like"! Yep, my Rebel was 1 year old yesterday, I celebrated by having to replace the chain 🤬
The stock chain on most bikes even Honda are usually rubbish, hence why at my first 300 mile service I bought a good quality DID chain and had the mechanic fit it. Now close on 3,000 miles and the chain has been adjusted once after the initial stretch at about 600 miles 😊
@@Peter234100 That seems to be the case. Perhaps the give away should be that they (the manufacturer) no longer bother with applying the very same chain grease they insist must be applied in the owners manual. It's just another case where these manufacturers seem to think that everyone has easy access to the (in most cases) significant sums needed to purchase their bikes. It doesn't do anything to instill loyalty in a brand.
