I found there had been no petrol getting through the fuel tap, when I last tried to start this machine. Obviously, I failed to start it on that occasion, but with the fuel tap unblocked, it was time to try again, and here is the result.
There are few things as wonderful as a Connie. For me, the Meteor Minor is a better balanced bike but the Connie has to be one of the five best British twins ever made.
I love the look of the Connie but if I were rich my favourite looking brit bike ever is the Interceptor mk 2 with the US handlebars upswept silencers and small chrome tank I can dream 😂
Love it! Forgot the history though, I take it this is one of your own machines? I had a rusty Connie engine when I was 19 but couldn't find a frame locally (no internet then) so I sold it before I went to Portsmouth Poly. First or second weekend in Southsea, what did I see but a rolling chassis in a dealer's window! One of life's regrets. The older twins (whatever marque) sound so much better than current ones - notwithstanding that I enjoy my 650 Interceptor. When's the test ride? Great videos, thanks.
You should just hold the tickler down till you see fuel, this pushing and releasing does nothing, its not a pump it simply holds the the float down to open the needle and seat witch floods the carb. Really enjoy your videos I am 72 ,Aussie with a life long passion for English made motorcycles ...
An advantage to jabbing the ticklers is you can hear the floats rattling, if they are moving as they should. The subject of jabbing, or holding them down has been discussed recently in one of my other videos. It is very much a matter of 'each to their own', though.
Yes OK I do listen to other peoples opinions it's a way of learning, but when you say you hear the floats rattling I don't understand, you hold the tickler down till there is fuel, when you release it should stop, I never owned Meteor or Constellation but worked on and rode a couple. I could rattle on four hours about my motorcycle life but I might bore everyone to tears. Thanks Paul for your reply. the 20 mph is caused by big headed fools who have a need to control the people..
Connie/Interceptor or A10/65? Is one pair much better than the other or are they too similar to split. Which are easier/simpler to work on? With most brands having a 650 in the line up, used to be lots of choice back in the day, if you had the money.
Sounds like a new bike how do I know? I heard one running that was original and an elderly gent like myself had traded in. It was being sold for restoration at 3.3k it didn't smoke but it rattled in every department!
