Episode 10: Return to Goa: Celebrating the Ultimate Adventure Companion
As the sun begins its ascent over the tranquil shores of Murdeshwar, we prepare to bid farewell to this coastal haven and embark on the final leg of our epic journey back to Goa, where our adventure first began. With a mixture of nostalgia and anticipation, we mount our bikes, ready to relive the memories of our unforgettable expedition.
Before setting out towards Goa, we decide to indulge in one last moment of camaraderie on the sandy beaches of Murdeshwar. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, crowned the ultimate adventure companion, takes center stage, its rugged silhouette standing as a testament to its reliability and versatility.
With the Triumph Scrambler 400X and the KTM 390 Adventure flanking its sides, we engage in a friendly beachside race, weaving through the soft sand and racing towards the crashing waves. Laughter fills the air as we revel in the sheer joy of freedom and friendship, the salty spray of the sea providing a refreshing backdrop to our playful antics.
As the sun reaches its zenith, casting a warm glow over the coastline, we reluctantly bid adieu to the shores of Murdeshwar and set our sights on the familiar roads that lead back to Goa. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, crowned the champion of our expedition, takes the lead once more, its steady pace guiding us homeward with a sense of nostalgia and pride.
As we ride through the winding roads and lush landscapes of Karnataka, memories of our incredible journey flash before our eyes. From the rugged terrain of the Western Ghats to the serene beaches of Southern India, each moment has been etched into our hearts, a testament to the spirit of adventure and camaraderie that binds us together.
As we finally arrive back in Goa, the place where our adventure began, a sense of accomplishment washes over us. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, our faithful companion throughout the journey, stands tall as the ultimate adventure companion, proving its worth time and time again.
Gathering together one last time, we raise a toast to the memories we've made and the bonds we've forged along the way. As we bid farewell to our beloved bikes and each other, we carry with us the spirit of adventure and the promise of new horizons on the open road.
And so, with hearts full of gratitude and a sense of fulfillment, we embark on our separate journeys, knowing that the memories of our epic Southern India expedition will forever remain etched in our minds and souls. Until we meet again, may the road rise to meet you, and may the wind be always at your back. Farewell, dear friends, until our next adventure beckons.

Booked my Scrambler 400x today. Your ride gave me confidence to do so. Took a test ride yesterday and fell in love. It felt like a fast sofa on wheels. Wishing you many great rides in the future as well. Love from Kolhapur, India. Do visit someday. It’s close to Goa and we’ve got great mutton curry here. 😉

Gutted this has come to an end. Best motorcycle adventure vid of 2024. Saw bits of India and the chaos on the streets I have never seen before. Just fantastic and well done to the three of you. Question is now are these the all bikes you would ever need? Seriously questioning my choice of bikes and will take these out for a test ride. Once again bloody brilliant series 👍

Thanks. On my current shortlist for my next bike I have the NX500 and NC750 from Honda. I will propably have to add that Himi there also, it fits right into what I want from my next bike. I have a cruiser now, a Vulcan which I bought in 2012 and as I´m soon retiring I want something that I can ride all day long comfortably and transport enough luggage for my soon to be trips. My Vulcan is otherwise fine but my back gets a beating if I try to do longer trips with it, more than 250-300 clicks daily and it gets painful. So this series gave me insight in three bikes that I`ve been curious about and they would propably all suit me one way or another but based on this that Himi seems to deliver everything that I need. I had a feeling it might and your experiences seems to prove my hunch right. So thank for this and good luck with the next one!
@thatbikersimon
@thatbikersimon Месяц назад
I'm glad to hear that the Himi seems to fit your needs perfectly! It sounds like you've done your research and found bikes that cater to your retiring lifestyle and long-distance riding plans. Really enjoyed the whole series! I'm impressed with how you guys stopped for a snack or chai at random places... Most would have worried about delhi belly 😅 A couple of questions 1. What's the mileage you got on each bike? 2. Which bike had the most engine heat during slow speed or traffic? 3. Which bike was the best in winding mountain roads with lots of hairpins? ie cornering, long turns, acceleration... 4. Not sure if you tested this... Which bike had the best headlights in terms of throw and brightness? PS Looking forward to your Himalayan trip

Thank you for your questions and your enthusiasm for our adventure! Here are the answers the millage was just over 3,00okm :The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 exhibited minimal engine heat during slow speed or traffic conditions, thanks to its air-cooled engine design.The Triumph Scrambler 400X also managed engine heat well, with efficient cooling systems in place.The KTM 390 Adventure experienced slightly more engine heat in slow speed or traffic situations due to its liquid-cooled engine.Best performance in winding mountain roads:The Triumph Scrambler 400X excelled in winding mountain roads with its nimble handling, precise cornering, and smooth acceleration, making it a joy to ride through hairpin turns and long curves.The KTM 390 Adventure also performed admirably in mountain roads, with its agile chassis and responsive throttle providing excellent maneuverability in tight corners and sweeping bends.The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 demonstrated good performance in winding roads, offering a stable and predictable ride through twists and turns, although it may not match the agility of the other two bikes in this specific terrain.Headlight performance:The Triumph Scrambler 400X and KTM 390 Adventure both offered excellent headlight performance in terms of throw and brightness, providing adequate visibility in low-light conditions.The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 also had decent headlights, although some riders may prefer additional aftermarket lighting for enhanced visibility during nighttime riding.I hope these answers provide you with the information you were seeking! Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming Himalayan adventure, and thank you for your support! 🏍️🏔️

If i may ask a few questions. Can you tell how you felt the scrambler vs 450 in terms of cornering, mid range speeds 60-100 and maneuvering while riding in the city. Also, did crosswinds affect either of the bikes more in your experience.?
@thatbikersimon
@thatbikersimon Месяц назад
Sure, I'd be happy to answer your questions. In terms of cornering, the Scrambler tends to feel more heavy than agile compared to the 450. However, the 450 might have a slight edge in mid-range speeds (60-100) due to its higher power output. Maneuvering in the city is generally smoother with the Scrambler due to its lighter weight and more upright riding position. As for crosswinds, both bikes are affected to some extent, but the Scrambler tends to handle them slightly better due to its larger profile and weight distribution. It was a hard test with the wind as we had a lot of luggage and that would not be the case on a day to day ride for me. Hope this helps 🏍️💨💨💨

@mookyzook
@mookyzook Месяц назад
Obviously there aren't a lot of the Enfields in the UK to try out but the main reason I would not even think of buying one is the weight. There's a lot of mid sized bikes of a similar weight with more power. The problem also with the Enfield is that the engine has not been proved as it's too new and water cooled and the finish on enfields has never impressed me. If it was dirt cheap like they used to be I might be tempted as an experiment but I'll stick with my KTM which has more power and more importantly for me much lighter. I've had it for nearly four years and been all over the continent. I researched it well before buying it and found out the engine was tried and tested in the Duke for years before they brought out the ADV. I bought it after years of riding larger heavier motorcycles and will never go back owning anything heavier than this. As Itchy Boots pointed out on her tour on the new enfield it's a very capable bike off and on road but she wouldn't like to pick it up if dropped. I was pretty much marooned on a fire road in Spain when my boot slipped on gravel and I slowly toppled over on my Triumph Tiger. Luckily with the help of my friend who was following me I eventually managed to get it upright and I swore on that day that I was never going to own a bike that I couldn't easily pick up. I might try out the Triumph though as I have owned many over the years.
@thatbikersimon
@thatbikersimon Месяц назад
I totally understand where your coming from but i personally would just buy one on the basis there so cheap and take a loss on it if I don’t like it. I’m hoping to prove the Himalayan in the Himalayas and but the reality to the test. All the bikes performed really well over the distance with no issues. So a really off road test will (maybe prove the RE right or wrong. 👍🏍️💨💨💨💨
@mookyzook
@mookyzook Месяц назад
@@thatbikersimon But they're not cheap compared to what they were like in comparison to other bikes in the past. The Triumph is cheap, especially compared to what the price of Triumph's are normally and the KTM has really shot up compared to what they were when I bought mine in 2020. Brilliant videos by the way, I did a enfield adventure ride in India a few years ago but it was too regimented for me who is used to just going where I want. Loved it though and definitely want to go back soon. Thanks again for a entertaining and informative film.
