I'm still confused between the two, but from where I am the ground clearance will be an issue, so I'm more inclined towards ronin & it's features are also a plus point.
@@ThisĪsDeadpool-e1p I don't think that it would be a wise decision. The Thunderbird is a way too better machine than the Hunter with good ride quality and comfort.
Bro to be honest both front and back fender are metal and tank too( did excessive research )and Ronin gives far better mileage then hunter , My bike already gives nearly 40 before 1st service itself. Things which are better for Ronin 1.Milage 2.More metal parts in body 3.Gtt(glide through traffic) many people miss this point 4.Upside down front suspension 5.Mono shock back suspension 6.Total led setup 7.Lesser service cost of TVS. 8.Trip navigation and Bluetooth connectivity (doesn't comes as accessory) 9.Lesser body weight 160kgs 10.More bass in exhaust note. I have ridden both, and hunter doesn't has the RE feeling.
Everything is nice on the Hunter, but the ground clearance is surely an issue. This is India and not the US or Japan. The speedbreakers, especially with the weight of the pillion will have you scraping things.
it will not be an issue, i have Thunderbird X with just 135 mm ground clearance.. i did whole ladhakh trip and never faced any issue.. though in city some speed breakers need to be crossed very slowly
Being a Mechanical engineer and a designer in automotive field, I have following observations. I was looking for a family bike for city rides mostly with a flat (horizontal seat), circular headlamp and retro-like + premium design (not like 100-150cc bikes). After exploring lot of bikes, I finalized three options to compare. 1. Honda H'ness 350 CC 2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC 3. TVS Ronin 225 CC I test drove all 3 vehicles 2-3 times and following are my observations, 1. Honda H'ness 350 CC - *Pros* - Nice retro/classic look, Low end torque is good, Seating space for pillion rider is more than other two vehicles. *Cons* - Bulkier (Box size), Paint quality, Higher cost as compared to other two vehicles 2. Royal Enfield Hunter Rebel 350 CC - *Pros* - Beautiful Design/Styling/Look, Great color schemes, Turning radius is smaller than Ronin (Less space to turn the vehicle), Reasonable cost. *Cons* - The biggest issue (design flaw) is positioning of foot rest (pegs), just below the sitting position. This makes it difficult to keep your feet on ground while you are at signal or in slow moving traffic. Foot rest (pegs) keep touching your legs and is very uncomfortable. Another point is that seat on rear end tapers downward and seating space for pillion rider being less, pillion rider tend to move back and when you accelerate, pillion may feel like toppling/falling down at back side. So this is not safe and hence, back rest is MUST. Handle bar positioned in such a way that you need to keep your hands stretched straight all the times which is not a comfortable sitting posture. Low end torque/performance (2 & 3 gear) is sluggish due to bigger engine. (Not as good as smaller capacity bikes) 3. TVS Ronin 225 CC - *Pros* - Semi-retro look with circular headlamp, Driveability and Performance is superb. Handle bar position is very good for comfortable sitting posture with hands slightly bent in elbows. Very easy to handle in traffic. *Cons* - Very bad design/aesthetics of fuel tank (some odd shape), Color schemes are odd (not impressive), Turning radius is higher than Hunter (Needs larger space to turn the vehicle). Cost is on higher side for lower CC as compared to Hunter (mainly due to features). Overall, none of them is meeting my requirements (as mentioned above) and hence, I decided to wait for Kawasaki W175 or Yamaha XSR or Improved version of Royal Enfield Hunter. All the best! Regards, Jayesh Shimpi
I would say that you should wait till the bajaj & triumph collab bike hits the market and then compare all of them together, so that at the end of the day you won't feel disappointed.
I also have the same feeling bro, still waiting for Yamaha XSR 155, I hope they launch it soon considering the demand for retro segment motorcycles in India now............ Bajaj x Triumph design looks good (spy shot images) but not sure about the ride quality and price.............
Totally agree with you on Ronin's aesthetics. It looks confusing. I faced the footpegs problem as well when I test-rode the Hunter 350, 180 kgs of weight hitting my shins was not a pleasurable experience lol. I also test-rode the Hness 350. The newer version has better seats and feels more comfortable. Did you finalize your bike yet? I will buy a bike by 1st week of May'23 and hopefully make my decision by then.
@@rishabhanand01 Finally I felt that 350cc is basically not something which I'll enjoy but I'll be unnecessarily driving & handling a higher box size & higher weight... Then I shifted downward and bought new Bajaj CT125X...it has got a circular headlamp, flat & long seat (for family/kids) and a mini-srambler like look with enhanced sturdiness...so basically meeting all my requirements. I am OK with this 125x than any of 350cc models I tried. Best luck!
I got my Ronin past Friday and it's soo awesome.. with lot of features and all. My only issue is every variant of Ronin has only 2color options. I got the grey one but it would have been nice if we get all the available color options in every variant. Happy riding everyone
@@nilajitsinha6561 that's a plastic pannel.inside we can take a look at the battery,i think it's because to reduce the overall weight of the bike,it's just 160kg for a bike looks both like a scrambler and cruiser. It doesn't bother me that much but there are other's who think it would have been better if that's a metal frame. Maybe soon they will provide an metal frame side pannel accessory....
I know you guys are appealing mostly to your home market, but I can tell you that here in New Zealand, I find your reviews very informative. Thanks for sharing 🤩
If you can make us Indians happy, and convince them then you can convince anyone! XD Hope the vlogs of all our Indian creators are helping you a lot when it comes to the biking world :)
I bought the Ronin, the Hunter was yet to be launched and the prelaunch price was supposed to be higher. Now with this killer pricing they seem to have knocked Ronin a solid punch. Having said that I am going out on a limb and saying that the overall cost of ownership may tip it in favour of the Ronin.
Even though both have same power figure....since ronin is 20kgs lighter than hunter, it would feel much more pepy...additionally the lower weight permits lower torque figure too which is 7Nm less than a hunter. Also, due to GTT in ronin, it would feel much easier city commuter than hunter
@@sandypan777 for that u need a wider bandwidth not short gearing, short gearing makes u be on toes every time I do 10 kmph at times on my rtr 200 and dont press clutch, although 2nd would be a peppy gear to get out faster , 10-12 at 3rd doesnt make me worried about stall
4valve head , oil cooler , 20 kilo weight advantage , slipper clutch , USD fork , connected tech, LEDs , 30mm extra ground clearance. Ronin is an absolute deal unless you are a RE fanboy !
@@TusharVarma Is there any fake detail in the list? No... So, even if paid, it is not an issue, unlike the propaganda of some political parties through their fake IDs.
Thanks for the in detailed review, I have purchased the Ronin 225 as it is way too comfortable and features rich machine than the Hunter 350 which also delivers a handsome city mileage than the RE 😇
@@karunakarb2919 we can as it has a strong in built chasis which is a full metal body and the best in class premium tyres from TVS. The Hunter hardly has an experience of a RE machine like that of the Classic 350 or the Meteor
@@thelastsamuraiRonin No problems as of now, will update you if I get one. As of now it is a complete all in one cruser bike which is fun to ride in the city as well as in the highway with no vibrations and fully refined engine. You get every possible feature in this light weight cruser 😇
RE Hunter is good, but I bought Ronin which is VFM with refined engine, loaded features and build quality fit & finished. I did completed 780 kms till now and i didn't any issues yet.
Everything is perfect in hunter except the most imp part which could change anyone's mind within seconds to consider it is its ground clearance, 150 is damn to low for a cruiser like this Biggest disappointment
I took test ride of both the bikes. Initially i was inclined towards hunter as i am a huge RE fanboy but seeing the practicality of everything i feel Ronin is best value for money for 95% of consumers who are going to use it as a daily commuter and weekend rides. Top speed 135+ , Glide through traffic feature, very nimble to manuaver in day to day traffic, super comfort , best riding posture , engine refinement , smooth gear box power to weight ratio is better than hunter so in real world it delivers slipper assist clutch Showa USD forks LEDs all around Bass heavy exhaust note and best of all 40+ milage that will pay dividend in long run. In a nutshell Ronin is complete bike whereas Hunter feels like a downgraded 350 classic.
I was obsessed with Ronin when it came out, But after that when hunter got introduced I changed my mind!!. Yes, Ronin is better when it comes to it's key features, like glide through, slipper clutch, USD forks etc. which the hunter doesn't have. But personally I think these features are not a deal breaker for me. 1) Slipper clutch for Ronin is exactly where hunter lacks, hunter with a tighter clutch is a concern. I believe this problem can be solved with a hydraulic clutch conversion's which are popular in 650 twins. 2) USD forks are always better but with this segment, it is not very important. I think hunter is a better choice with it's unique roadster type design and road presence which makes it a one of a kind motorcycle like that of a triumph. Also this bike's got a great potential for future modification's and bolt on accessories which is awesome if you are an enthusiast. Right now my favourite picks of hunter accessories would be tail tidy, bar end mirrors and seat if needed. Overall I think hunter with it's unique character would be a great choice over Ronin. Test driving both and picking one that fits your taste is always the best way to go.
Slipper clutch is very convenient and usd forks are way better than regular one’s on hunter. Both these make a huge difference in riding. So take test rides on both
Slipper clutch makes a huge difference when you are a daily commuter and ride mostly in the city. Till date we don't have a machine like Ronin in Indian two wheeler market which would offer you so much at a reasonable cost. *225cc Liquid + Oiled Cooled Engine. *Power of 20.4 PS and with 19.6 NM of torque with a descent city mileage. *Slipper assist clutch with Adjustable brake and clutch levers. *GTT Technology *Smart Connect feature with turn by turn navigation *Fully digital instrument cluster *Upside Down premium USD front folks with pre load adjustment. *Cruising speed of 130 kmph with no vibrations. *Premium roadblock tyres from TVS for stability and better road grip. *Dual Channel ABS with riding modes. *Full LED light set up with LED DRLs and LED indicators.
Hunter ground clearance is a big concern especially when a pillion above 80 or 90 Kgs sit behind. I feel it would hit speed breakers in such a case. All other cons are kind of manageable I feel.
I took a test ride of Hunter and Ronin. Last time I rode a bike was in 2013 my pulsar 180. Even after almost a decade I instantly got comfortable on Hunter and I loved every sec of it. Ronin for me was not as enjoyable and satisfactory like Hunter. Hunter feels so light and amazing in corner and sitting position was also 👌. I am getting Hunter Retro
Ive been for a test ride for the Ronin and what i feel : Cons: - I think styling and design is bit messed up because of the scrambler and roadster look combined with cruiser seating posture! - The forward set foot peg does seem weird at times and also - in flesh the Instrument pod actually stands up quite a bit high and kinda looks awkward (also has chances of breaking in case of a fall) , - Lot of plastics used (On the sides especially) - For tall person the saddle is ok if not great and eats up the pillion space a little and seat could have been a little longer - As mentioned in the video yes tank does not have space to tuck your knee and seating feels a little uncomfy at times since your knee search for that hold to tank! - The chain cover is a neat one but doesn't serve the purpose. Pros: - Attention grabbers : The T shapred DRL , Those Golden USD Forks , The grey color variant shown in the video is pleasing to look at! - The engine is good and has less vibrations till 80 - 90kmph! - The instrument pod is bright and shows lot of info. - Slipper clutch is really convenient. - GTT is kinda useful and not for all! - LED all around feels up to date bike!
I intend to buy 1 from either of these two. But am confused, my requirements are not just city use as I live far away from city. I need something for highway cruising, I am talking about approx 100-150 kms of highway ride, & city ride of approx 50-60 per travel, & not to forget wet, bad road conditions too.... Which one should I go for, Hunter 350 or Ronin ?
take a test drive of ronin and hunter, youll feel it your self that ronin is fit as per your needs, its light powerful and easy to manuver with 30mm+ ground clearance than hunter.
TVS Ronnin is the Champ here, Hunter is RE bike with different riding style but TVS have really put thoughts at every area putting customer need in time. Everything is modern and fresh on Ronnin, cost cutting on RE and great effort done by TVS is clearly visible. M going for Ronnin...!! No second thoughts..
These small bikes, I want a proper cruiser man, like Indian Motorcycle, Was expecting RE will launch meteor plus, Meteor too don't have much seating space for passenger. Need seating space along with power only then will be able to enjoy the ride. Bajaj avenger might be a good choice but it too got issues.
Thank you ! Someone said, if you are senior citizen and want a RE minus its weight and stress free riding in traffic, and reliable touring on the highway, Ronin is waiting !
@@ALIYYILA I assume the younger guys are stronger to manouvere the heavier bikes. My case purchases REH in 2016 when I was 62, later exchanged it for my son's Gixxer last year !
Ronin is better anyday .....then RE bike Ronin has 4Valve engine give 45+ mileage on highway. Has less weight -160Kg only & Good low n medium torque req for hills & city for overtaking. 180 -GC req for bad roads & soft offroading Only drowback is 6th gear missing & High end is flat on highway so crusing speed max will be 90kmph without stress.
yooo prateek bro any update about hero 400 impulse,in other video u replied to one of the commenter u have an update about that few months back,.so any update about that?????
I will buy enfield hunter for 2 reason one it has dual suspension whichs gives a good look and also is comfortable over mono shocks...plus hunter comes with rear tyre of 140 which offers better road grip...I guess ronin will be more of a hit with customers who fall in the age group of 18 to 28 and hunter with the crowd above 30s...
i will choose Ronin, the only drawback i see in Ronin is that i will not be get the off market accessories easily or at all..... and i also want to know which of these 2 is more stable and easy at 100kmph?
Different people... different choices. Some like light weight bike, some heavy... If i had to purchase one, wd hv gove for the low variant of Ronin. Absolute VFM.
Ronin look is very confusing either it will be hit or miss. Hunter will get you more resale value than ronin. Ronin is quite comfortable but. It looks very small.
It's like comparing a Porsche to a Tesla. Yes the Tesla has more power, more torque, more features, less acceleration time, but the riding and owning experience of a Porsche is far better than a Tesla. So yeah, Ronin looks tacky. Hunter definitely.
