If you were not already aware, Royal Enfield are also bringing out an update to the scram 411 sometime within a year from now. It will not use the new water cooled 450 (that is the Guerrila being released in the next few months) but will use an updated 440cc version of this air/oil cooled engine. They want to continue the scram line as a lower cost product, and the 450s as the new more premium product line.

Another great vid. I've gotta agree with you on the speed. This genre of bike doesn't beg you to ride quickly anyway. I don't go much over 70 on a 1200 scrambler. Admittedly it's handy for the odd overtake here n there but aside from that scrambler style bikes are great for having a bimble in the countryside. Chilled riding all the way 😌 🙂

Yeah, these bikes just make sense. With today and the increasing traffic, stricter speed limits and not to mention the price of fuel! So so happy with this bike

@njepisodes yep thats just it. Better to spend money on a bike that had bags of character than loads of power you can't use.

Those performance figures seem consistent with all the REs equipped with the 350J motor, allowing for diferences in bike weight and load carried weight of course. A free flow air filter will certainly improve the acceleration time. When I tested the speedo on my RE I found it had about a 5% error (reads over) which seems to be standard for most speedos whether two wheels or four.

At the end of the day it’s a 411cc air cooled bike, but after owning a Himalayan for nearly 3 years it’s not enough. To safely go highway speeds of 70 or 80mph you need a bike with a top end of 100mph or 160kmph even if you never exceed 80. Loved my Himi on all but highway roads. All the reasons why I sold it on my channel.

Some of the freeway speed signs here in Texas are 80 mph. Others are 70 mph. And because Texas is the anti nanny state everyone seems to do 10 mph over the signed speed limits. This is what makes it so hard to find a Royal Enfield that would work here 😕... Waiting to see what the new water cooled 450 will do. But on paper my calculations show it will still be on the edge of just not enough for here.

@@nicksepisode it’s normal for here. What you are used to. It’s not the autobahn but it’s close to what it’s always been. Back in the Nixon years with the oil embargo at that time President Nixon signed a federal law lowering all national highway speed limits to 55 mph to conserve fuel in the country which is 86 kph in the funny new standard parts of the world. Then it creeped up later to 65 which is 104. 70 is 112. In metric countries they just round down or up so you get speed limit signs saying 100 kph or 110 kph. Nothing different to a country highway in Australia signed at 110 it’s just that they don’t hide cameras in boxes strapped on bumpers next to the license plate of little old ladies cars parked behind trees behind blind corners with steep downgrades trying to catch motorists going what feels like 3 kph over (inaccurate speedometers in cars as well) and generate a fat revenue raising infraction ticket like over there 🤣.

My Interceptor cruise at 70mph all day 75mph all day as well once you swap mufflers for lighter one's 6kg lighter & 80mph for 30mins easy.Put headers on 80mph all day & you can change cog to increase top end.I rode with Harley boy's all the time & do 75-80mph & ton it up occasionally but had done some mods.T100 be better for 80mph all day motorway.
@ruahinesrider
@ruahinesrider 9 месяцев назад
80mph is 129.7kmh I thought it was more like 140kmh Interceptor 650 with lighter mufflers do 80mph(130kmh) all day & max out at 160-165kmh.Stock bike with my 90kg on it did 158kmh with the S&S slip on's did 163kmh at Altitude.Put headers on Into 650 hit rev limiter especially with 2-1.My mate had TEC 2-1 on HIS RE 650 & was doing 180kmh but he only 65-70kg. 2-2 big bore headers have less top end than 2-1.Sweet spot on RE650 with slip on's is 125- 130kmh all day depending on riders weight & mods done. 2-1 TEC sheds 13kg in weight & 2-2 big bore headers sheds 10kg in weight & slip on's is 6kg in weight.Euro 5 bikes leave the baffles in. Fuel X is a great upgrade for fueling too.I don't know how Super Meteor 650 will perform as not rode one & they're 20kg heavier but have different map.

Hi Ian. I much prefer the scram because of the way I rode. It's nimble and feels more like a hooligan bike. The himmy is slower at tipping and u can feel that. The screen on the himmy causes more wind then my scram. If I could go back and pick a himmy instead I'd still pick the scram. We swapped bikes the other day (vid coming soon) and I'm so happy with my choice. Jodie also prefers the himmy as its slower at tipping in because she rides slower than me. If you are hyper buy the scram. If u are chill and plod then go himmy. Having said that I'd be happy with either one. Go for the best price with the lowest miles etc.

Now the real Question is how precise is the Speedo. If you take into account that Jo´s good old White Princes aka CB125F has an Electronic Limiter at 115kph / 71.46mph (yes i finaly found him an reached it with Nyx also nown as Darth Vaders Evil little Sister from Honda) than are 80 mph from the Hunter fast enough but not realy impressiv. But that is before you correct the CB125F down by 10 kph / 6.21 mph to get the real world GPS Speed.

Thanks for the video. I really liked the RE 350 I tested, but there wasn't enough power for me. The top speed was OK and the 0-60 was fine. However the more important number is the acceleration from 60-70. That is what dictates the ability to overrake on A roads or nip past lorries on duel carriageways. The RE took far far too long. The rest of the bike was great. I am looking forward to trying an RE 450.

No hate on the video, but I dislike 0-60 runs simply because its not a reflection of reality.. well at least not mine. My typical commute outside of neighborhoods is getting on what we call feeder roads (think y'all refer to them as slip roads) to get on the highway, which are typically about 30-35, then we get onto the highway at 80ish...if you don't wanna die that day. Anything slower, especially on a bike in Texas, and someone will run your ass over. The max of 80 wouldn't make me feel secure lol. Id prefer something closer to 90 to evade cagers. People here in Texas will routinely go 30 over the speed limit, especially in the Houston Metro... while stupid, Houston is such a sprawling place that I get it. The metro is bigger than some of the smaller states, and the joke is Houston is 30 miles from Houston.

I am getting on and hyper bikes and heavy bikes not for me. Now have v strom650 and the best bike I’ve owned ever. I test rode the himmy and interceptor but I could not like them mainly because of the power not the top speed but mid range. Also I am not convinced on the reliability. The service intervals esp valves is pants for a modern bike.

Not enough. If you meet anything even resembling a hill or a headwind you're wringing the neck of the throttle as the speed gradually subsides into getting passed by trucks territory. That's just humiliating, might as well get a 125 and embrace that gutter.
