This video shows the installation of my new DNA Air Filter, and a test ride afterwards to see if I could tell the difference between old and new.

Nice, easy to do mod. A must have, for both added smoothness and a bit of more rumble. I do resonate with the care you handle your bike, being a bit of OCD inclined myself. I'm in a market for one too, also considering getting a windshield and heel&toe shifter. You got a new subscriber here, sir!

I’m from India and I have the DNA air filter installed with the OEM plastic cover with the snorkel unclipped and saved me some cash. It works really well and I did notice the throttle to be a lot smoother as well. Not to mention the induction roar 👌.

The difference between the dna snorkel eliminator vs the OEM plastic cover - even if v unclip the OEM cover , it does have some minimalistic air intake block due to its design nature! Whereas the dna snorkel eliminator opens up fully

Thanks for sharing this with us. I also find the gear shift rubber to short and maybe I will do the change. To bad you did not made a video on that. As for the DNA filter, the bike must have a certain number of kilometers already done to change the filter? I have 1.2k km done in two weeks since I got my SM650. Love your videos. Keep it up and ride safe!

Hi, thanks for watching, I cut the fitted bolt in half and welded another section on. Then the rubber just pushes on top. Another way of doing it (without welding) would be to cut the bolt off completely, and drill a hole in the arm, and use a long M8 bolt.

clip starts with a rumble - Oh My… what a great heart beat sound .as if …its asking for a ride.. the sound kicks up your DNA to ride…

I'd advise you get the dna air filter service kit, which has a solvent cleaning fluid which removes the old oil, then dry and re-oil 😊

Putting a usb in the lockable side panel is very useful, you can put a usb tracker in tgere and itll charge itself

Good show Mate! This DNA air filter looks to be similar in concept to the K&N air filter, touting familiar benefits though I was a bit surprised to see the price tag to be $80 on this side of the pond (Florida). Not complaining really, what hasn’t moved up in cost recently?

Hey man, just watched another video on the DNA filter....it seems you loose the top end power because the mix is real thin ...too much air and less fuel...so a fuel remap is recommended....did you try pushing the bike to the top end?....any advice on this?

That plastic snorkel actually unclips from the standard intake as well opens the air way up a bit just pops off 👍🏻 is the dna filter worth the money then did you notice any sounds difference? Cheers Will

Am going to be making this change to my SM650 soon, but not necessarily for any performance increase (various reviews seem to be subjective on this matter), but I am told that it changes the noise of the engine and sounds a little better. Did you have any experience with this as your SM650 sounds louder than mine?

Hi regarding the sound you can hear the induction of the air through the filter. It's possible that my exhaust note is just how the gopro is picking it up. Ride safe.

Thanks for watching, I purchased the rubber from amazon, it gives the dimensions on the advert, if you find it is too long, just cut it to length. I just welded a piece on the end of the original gear shift, if you can't weld you could use a large bolt in place of the gear shift. Lewis 👍 The advert link is now in the description of the video

Oh yeah and I'd de-cat it too, makes more difference still, and for the holy trinity of upgrades add the fuel X lite or pro 👍🏻 then you will really appreciate the difference 😊

Hey! Lovely video and thank you for the info! I have a question in case anyone could help me...I'll soon have the bike delivered and I was wondering if its okay to install the air filter as soon as I get the bike. Does it hurt the breaking in of the engine, does it help or it doesnt rly matter? Thx in advance!

I’ve taken my air filter off for a look, the metal adapter will allow more air flow, the plastic adapter on the bike has a smaller air flow hole which would in my opinion restrict air. Will opt for what you have fitted. Thanks for your help 👍 Very informative video 👍

Hello again, i have a small question again, i have aftermarker performance exhaust, as well as dna air filter with stock snorkel, i did not rev the engine for 15 minutes after changing the filter .. Does it require fuel remapping or bosster plugs ?! It it running lean ? (Just read it online)

@priyankpatel59 No it won't. A remapping of the ECU would just improve the overall performance and smoothness on and off the throttle.

Hello, can you please help me, I am worried about water getting in the filter while bike wash and heavy rain riding because of the removal of the snorkel Will it damage the engine or hamper the performance and how to overcome it ?

Hi thanks for watching. Yes if water gets in to the engine it would be a big problem. However because the DNA filter is coated with oil water should not pass through. When I wash my bike I always check to see if the filter is good and have never noticed any water ingress in the filter housing. I hope this helps. Ride safe Amigo

Hi thanks for watching yes the rear suspension is a bit hard but the bike handles really well so I won't change it.

Save your money and just buy the plate. The filter makes no difference other than you can clean it. The problem is many think they are fit and forget. They need maintenance to protect the engine properly
