I just got a Interceptor 650 Sunset and im crazy about it. Thins engine is so good and nice to ride in the city. We dont have the Super Metor in Brazil yet, its coming in a couple months but alredy know that i wanna one. Tks for the video!
USA was slow to embrace Royal Enfield I know a guy in New Jersey & has owned them for about 20 months & said HE never saw any if he did it was a Himmy.Westcoast & Texas seemed to have alot in that period but Esst coast was slow to embrace them he said it's Harley Davidson country which he has one too. When RE had the lottery for the 120yr anniversary model he entered thinking 🤔 he had no chance & he one🥳.He reckons less tickets sold on the East coast & increased his chances. He sold his blue Interceptor & kept 120yr model & then brought a Classic 350 with 1500km on it & of his 5 bikes the Classic 350 is his favorite for plodding along & if he needs to travel got his Harley.HE loves RE & said lately has started seeing more around that aren't Himmy's.
Like my area in NZ 🇳🇿 not alot of RE around & Dealership I got mine at went bust in my area which is Harley Davidson county & ADV country.Other regions of NZ 🇳🇿 RE been selling heaps of bikes. In my area if you see a RE it's usually a 500 & maybe a GT or Interceptor if you're lucky but usually a 500.I went on some big Run's with 150 bikes & my Interceptor & a RE 500 Classic were the only one's go a 90mins South there's a RE Club & Dealership & heaps around. They rode past once on Hwy 50 & I joined in on my Interceptor & rode for about 50mins with them then turned around.
Just a GREAT review over some serious mileage. I'm just about to pull the trigger on the superMeteor trading in my meteor 350 which I love, that single cylinder has a beautiful sound but just not enough power. Your real life review has helped confirm my desire to get one.
With the demise of the economically priced base model air-cooled HD Sportster 883, I can see RE's cruiser twins filling the niche as the 'go to' starting point for customising and general mid sized road riding machines for those who don't want a sports bike. The cost of a basic platform allows owners to personalise to their heart's content on a bike with character, and all the right 'essentials' already in place. I've certainly been happy with the Interceptor I've been riding since early 2019, where it's been the perfect bike, both on my home roads in the UK, and riding in the mountains of the Languedoc (SW France).
What a classy Bike. Congratulations from here in the UK, where Royal Enfield Bikes have become very popular. Thanks for your enthusiastic video of your fine bike.
Great review Fuzzy and I like your plans for next year, it'll be epic riding! I totally agree that cruisers make great tourers, my Softail Custom has taken me all over the UK and Europe in comfort. Wahoo!
Great video. I bought my first Royal Enfield Meteor 350 from Baxter Cycle. It was used and you actually test road it. Supernova Brown. I am going to be getting a Super Meteor in the future for the same exact reason you bought yours…Long distance riding. Wahoooo
I do love it's looks. And it's brakes and steel fenders as well as tail light , longer wheelbase and nicer control's .Alloy rims ,upside down forks, forward controls,50 lbs weight increase and deletion of lower frame rails I do not like. But I dare you to find a better cruiser.
What a pretty bike, what a pretty bike. Enjoying catching up on your videos as a newer subscriber. I'll be checking those and the Shotgun out next week. Looking for a second bike and RE has several great options.
@@forgottenmotorcycles I may get one of these. Looking for a second bike cause I can and want to😊 I currently ride a 98’ Valkyrie Standard. Best bike I’ve owed to date!! Be safe friend!
This is actually the best video about the Super Meteor on RU-vid. Why? Well, for me it is important to go on long or longer tours, even with some luggage. I live in Germany and love taking longer trips with luggage for a few days or even just 1-2 days. That is the goal when looking for a suitable motorcycle that will slow me down! The power and torque are absolutely sufficient. Also: Who still builds something like that today? Honda and Kawasaki have the new look and are not really what I have in mind. If, as you say, the seat isn't that uncomfortable compared to many statements, then that's my bike too, to be honest. I also imagine what it looks like for you, with the luggage solution. Thanks for the video and your assessment of the Super meteor 650. Thank you very much!
Thanks. Love this bike and plan on taking several (20 or more) long trips this year. Will video and keep everyone informed on this bikes performance and attributes.
Beautiful bike I checked on out at a showroom and was impressed with the switch gear upgrade and overall the Meteor looks great but I am waiting for the Shotgun. I like bobbers and love the 650 motor its a beauty and also like the rear seat/rack options on the Bobber. Both bikes are lookers really happy RE is putting out these top of the range but still affordable bikes. The luggage on your bike look sharp too which is not always the case.
Ya i am a dual sport rider mostly but RE is making me look at other styles of bikes I am really impressed with what they are coming out with....I test ride the RE bikes I am interested in so far have not purchased one but the Himalaya 450 and the Shotgun 650 have me very interested right now and the low price means I can own a few bikes. Lookig forward to all 11 new RE bikes over the next year or two...competition is much needed for us riders.@@davidburnside2944
I'm really looking forward to the Shotgun. Trying to get Baxter's to import the tank, fenders and running gear to make one out of a Super Meteor. Wahoo!
Me and my wife where just at RE Chandigarh and she sat on the 650 while I did my initial test ride of 452. Needless to say she immediately didn't like any other seat.
This is one of those cruisers that looks very good also with panniers. Great review bro. Enjoyed it. You covered everything. Just subscribed. Did you take also a pillion? What was it like?
Hello, Fuzzy. Thanks, again, for another review. The “Shotgun” didn’t wow me the way the Super Meteor did. Not sure I can put my finger on it, but… just didn’t. I have to say… despite how much I like the appearance of the SM, I now await the “Classic” adaptation of the powerplant. Different rides for different folks, obviously. But I think I’d still want a… well… more “classic” rider’s triangle over a “cruiser.” I wish you many more views in 2024! Best, John in Colorado.
I'm think'n the Super Meteor will be followed by a Classic 650, I should say hoping. It seems like a bike that should be a hit. After all, the Classic 350 is one of their best sellers. Wahoo!
I agree. I love the riding position on the Classic 350 but the freeway struggles are rather off-putting. I had an Int 650, The engine and transmission were glorious but the riding position was very uncomfortable and I sold that bike.
Now that I'm used to this bike and its seat I'm very comfortable on the long rides. First thousand miles seat took some getting used to. I'm a shrinking 5 foot 8 with a 30 inch inseam. No back pain. Wahoo!
Great review but I have a question. I have a Meteor 350 and it has a USB power port so the battery drain problem isn't an issue. Did they not include that feature on the meteor 650?? Also, do you know if a heel toe shifter is an available option for the bike. I rather like it on the 350 and if I were to upgrade I would certainly want it on the 650.
The Super Meteor does have a USB port but it is located under the left side cover. Don't know why they put it there. I've heard that there is a heal/toe shifter option but have not seen one yet. Have about 4500 miles on my Super Meteor now. Wahoo!
I'm 5-8 too, inseam is 30. Valve adjustment was easy and didn't need to replace the gasket. Will be putting thousands of miles on this bike this year. Hope to video a lot of that. Wahoo!
Love the Interceptor, it's lighter and faster. However, the Super Meteor is more comfortable for the long rides. Am planning to really put on the miles with it this year. Wahoo!
Hey fuzzy. How much weight in gear fo you figure hauling on your camping trip om the meteor. And do you feel like your wringing the bike's neck at 70 moh?
I'm guessing I've got between 20-40lbs of gear. The bike runs smooth at high speeds and does not feel overworked. She does 70 without any problems at all. Love this bike. PS I'm out on the Super Meteor on a long trip as I type this reply. Love this bike. Wahoo!
Thought you got the bike from wahoo, NE lol . I can’t decide whether to keep my classic 350 or upgrade to super meteor or continental gt. Don’t want more than one bike. Really enjoy how simple and retro classic is, the fuel economy, just wish it went to 80mph not 70
I’m not sold on a parallel twin 650 on a 500+ motorcycle. I’d have to ride one. I rode an 80s XS650 once, and it probably had about 35hp and was not safe on the highway.
I hope you continue to enjoy it. It’s a no go for me I’m sad to say because of the 3k service intervals. If a person does a lot of miles that is a concern. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to this bikes release.
Oil change and valve adjustment is 6,000 miles. This is my third RE motorcycle, my Himalayan has over 24,000 miles on it. Every valve adjustment on the Himalayan has had the valves within spec, never out. For my purpose, long rides, this bike should work well. I invite you to follow along and we'll find out. Wahoo!
Two questions for you. (1). Is there any/ much buffeting with that factory windscreen? (2.) is there a good place to store/ hide your phone, and... route the charging cable from the USB port to it (With its cool navigation system, it seems foolish to also have a phone strapped to the handlebars) - Thanks Mike
Stock windshield with me wearing an HJC i90 helmet, I'm about 68 inches tall, has virtually no buffeting. Helmet is in clear air, if I lean down the air noise goes down, if I stand up the wind noise and buffeting increases. I'm planning a short video on this soon. Unfortunately, the USB port is under the left side cover, almost useless, and the stock bike has no place to store the phone. I'm going to run a USB cable into my left saddlebag. I can keep and charge electronics there. FYI, did use that tripper nav system, it does work well but drained my phone in less than two hours.
Thank you, very much appreciated for answering my questions!!!! BTW, IMO this/ your bike is one GREAT MACHINE (regardless of its low price). Anyway, based on what is out there today, this motorcycle is "overall" perfect for me, and hope to get one.@@forgottenmotorcycles
I really struggled with this too. Ended up with the Super Meteor because I love long ride, over 300 miles a day. I do think the INT650 is the funnest bike you can ride. Will do a video comparing these two very soon. Wahoo!
You make me enthousiastic, for that bike🫡 I want to buy a HD Sportster, but now I am not so sure anymore. With that RE you get a lot of bike for your money. But how about build quality? Or better say, do they rust? Living in nortwest Europe, with a lot of rain. Regards from The Netherlands🇳🇱🇺🇲😎
I've had RE's for 3 years now. Also have HD's. Honestly, I'd buy the RE Super Meteor any day over most any other bike. Put over 800 miles on my Super Meteor in the last 3 days, love it, and have a 300 mile ride planned for tomorrow. Wahoo!
Hi. That's really a great review of the SM650. I am planning to buy but still i am quite puzzled with the reviews i am seeing for stiff rear suspension. Can you please share any details on that like any specific settings or upgrade to aftermarket shock absorbers?
From the dealer most bikes are set on the softest setting. Works good until you hit a hard bump and get that spine jarring crunch. Be sure to adjust your rear shocks to your weight. For me, at 227 lbs, that was two clicks up from the lowest setting. Because I'm planning on riding my Super Meteor over 30,000 miles this year I've added the YSS Top Line rear shocks from Baxtercycle.com After getting these tuned in to my weight and adjusting compression the ride of the bike is amazing. Wahoo!
Thanks for the response. Can you share which YSS Shock Absorbers you have installed and also it would be great if you can share the video of the setting you have done in YSS suspension.
@@somiyachakravorty6158 yss topline shocks from baxtercycle.com Baxter cycle hed these custom-made to be a one-to-one replacement with the factory shocks. As easy as undoing the bolts taking the old shock out and putting the new one in. Preload was set up for a 200 lb person I adjusted compression two clicks up from soft. I think I made two videos about this already and plan to make another video hopefully in the next week, a conclusion video. Thank you
The only thing It needs is a pair of small floorboards. I put some on my 2016 Indian Scout and really improved my comfort by the feeling of a well planted footrest.
VERY NICE Machine (regardless of money!!!). BTW what are its service intervals for oil changes & valve adjustments? Also, just saying..... if you need CRUISE CONTROL, check out an ATLAS THROTTLE LOCK (they are supposed to be pretty good?!?)
Thanks! Oil changes and valve checks are every 6000 miles, I plan on doing mine at 5000 miles. Am seriously looking at that Atlas Throttle lock. Have friends with it and they love them. Wahoo!
Those bags are perfect for this bike, look like original equipment. I had a 650 Interceptor, The engine and transmission were... perfect. I found the riding position uncomfortable, bars too far away, knees too bent, pegs tangled my feet, I sold that bike. I have never been a cruiser guy, but this bike intrigues me, especially the way you have it set up. It is different enough to declare itself something other than a "Harley Wannabe" . .I am 6'0" tall and weigh 185, 32" inside leg, do you think the windshield would be too short?
I've actually stretched up to see how it works and it did do well. I'd get yourself to a dealer and take one for a spin, if you have good weather. I love the interceptor but this Super Meteor is far more comfortable. PS Bags work great too!
Bike has plenty of torque, so power would not be a problem. I do what a passenger backrest for passenger comfort. Have not rode this bike with a passenger yet. Will make a point of doing so soon. Wahoo!
Seems to be a fair few complaints from India about excessive chain and sprocket wear with little mileage incurred. Any comments on how the chain is fairing up? Cheers.
When the original chain starts to wear out replace it with a high quality chain. That's what I've done on all my motorcycles, RE or otherwise. It's a good practice and does not cost a lot of money. Wahoo!
No, not to this bike. I want this bike for very long ride, 400 - 800 miles per day. The motor in stock form would be more reliable for this type of riding. Now, if I had an INT650 or that new Shotgun...that'd be another story. Wahoo!
2400 miles is long term? Just barely broken in. I have two bikes at 15k miles and wouldn't call it long term. But, very nice review and presentation even though my experience with Classic 350 is underwhelming both with machine itself and RE as company.
T120- 0-60 - 3.8 seconds RE 650 0-60 5.5 seconds. You could never keep up with the Triumph. RE is making very affordable, reliable, but no where near any competition performance wise. The beauty is in it's charm.
Bags were $290, Racks were $200, pegs $90 at Baxtercycle.com Love these bags. Pack them inside the house, put em on the bike, get to motel and carry them inside. Amazing!
Isn’t it the case that, even on the 650s, the valves are screw-and-locknut adjustable? If so, I think that’s fine, if not even preferable. And 6,000 miles isn’t too bad. The precision of shim adjustment comes with its own expenses and challenges. Getting access to the valves, doing it at home, and leaving the tank on?! Again, if I am wrong, please skool me. But my other bikes require tank off, valve cover off, CAMS off, measurement and shim application, then re-assembly. Full shim-set required. Hmmm! John-in-Colorado
It's all about purpose, in my case I wanted a bike that could do 700 mile days at Interstate speeds while being comfortable. This bike does that well. If I want to ride in other ways I'll ride a different bike. Follow along, I plan to roll on the miles on this bike this year. We're gonna test this bikes abilities and its Unlimited mile warranty too. Wahoo! PS get to your RE dealer and take one for a ride.
