I feel fortunate to have driven our 1990 Pontiac Bonneville across the bridge back in the early 90s.

What an amazing memory! These days one of the few ways you can drive across the bridge is via a guided Jeep tour, which we've done and it's incredible. But I'm sure it's nothing like driving yourself back in the day!

I was there this May when I went to Colorado to visit my friends. We went on the Gondola: I was hesitant at first, but I'm glad I did it, as it was very enjoyable, and rode on it three times! I would most definitely do it again. The time we spent in Canon City was very memorable.

Yay! So glad you had a nice time and were able to ride the Gondola more than once. It's a memorable experience for sure!

I remember my dad driving across the bridge in probably a 1946 Chevy. I thought it was a bit scary at the time, but if it was before 1955 I would have been 10 years old or less. Would like to see it again because I remember little of the occasion.

What a great memory! It's still a bit scary to us to drive across the bridge, or even cross the bridge on foot. Quite an experience even today though!

I remember being 8 years old and my parents driving across it and I was in the backseat. Praying to God because I seriously thought we were going to die.😂😂

Thanks! I remember that too!!! The Bridge has a few days a year you can still drive across for some special events. I know there is some car shows they have for that. And that fishing sign is still there xD

Like 1000s of feet terrifying. That swing over the cliff. I told my wife I didn't feel good so I wouldn't have to go on it. Royal Gorge is pretty cool though. Mesa Verde is so impressive.

Looks like fun! Any suggestions of other things to do in the area if we go down from Colorado Springs for a day trip?
@HashtagColoradoLife
@HashtagColoradoLife 2 года назад
YES! Pueblo isn't too far away and could always swing by there and go to the Riverwalk or Lake Pueblo (if it's warmer out). Going more west, you could spend an afternoon in Salida hot springs. Any of the Natl or State Parks or Forests would be a great pick in the area. Some real undiscovered gems. But if you want a real adventure (and a bit more of a drive) check out the Great Sand Dunes Natl Park.

Just saying I'm a 5th generation Colorado native. That means my family has been here before there was a Colorado. The hike above Brainerd lake to Blue lake is amazing. If you like water falls, glaciers, and stuff. Really beautiful.

Is it open during October or when it's snowing

Open year round and probably open in the snow. Might not be open in a thunderstorm or a massive blizzard.. but simple snow I think so.

Where does the bridge lead too why was it built ?
@HashtagColoradoLife
@HashtagColoradoLife 2 года назад
Well.. the bridge leads to the other side of the gorge. That's about it. And the bridge was constructed because they could. It's a tourist thing. It was build many many many decades ago as a tourist destination unto itself
