I was part of the WW2 fire team. A great week stationed at Wellington Barracks. I had the opportunity to visit the Guards museums and stores, and held a VC. Great memories that I will always cherish.
i was part of the royal Corps of Signals Pipes and Drums back in 2000 at the age of 15 then a month later the lead drummer had to go back and do training which left me to be the lead drummer for the late HM the Queen Mothers 100th birthday. remember it like it was yesterday.
A wonderful event and a great honour to have been part of it. A delight to work with Major Sir Michael Parker on many events in London from VE Day and RMT 2000 to HM Queen Elizabeth II Golden & Diamond Jubilees. Thank you Sir Michael. Wonderful memories.
It brought a tear to my eye to see RMT 2000 again.....it was well worth all the heartache and problems on the way..from the complaints from the Prime Minister..Blair...who Whinged that it too loud....to the multitude of Bureaucrats who said it wouldn’t work...it was saved by Rear Admiral Rod Lees, who as The Services Representative in the Palace did well ‘above and beyond the call of Duty’ who supported me through thick and thin..Thank you

It's a shame that the Napoleonic part wasn't included in the video. I was on one of the cannons and would have loved to see that. I still remember our cue. When Nelson's body is brought back to England, there's a cockney woman's voice that says "WHAT WE WANT IS HIS SEMEN!" 🤣 And yes, I know the annoyance of Blair complaining about the noise, although I potentially didn't help with that, seeing as I was making our rounds up and I might have "accidentally" put more than 4 oz in when we heard he was complaining about the noise... *cough*.
Absolutely fantastic!! When I was in the RAF I was lucky enough to be sent to this, I was on ushering duties in the Royal stand with two gurkhas, it was one of the best things I ever did. This brings back so many memories. Thanks for sharing it.
Not the RAF Band I hope. We were getting nothing but complaints from them because the loud noise from the cannon's caused some injuries. They weren't impressed when they went on parade at Wellington Barracks to see our cannon's fitted with silencers and everyone with cotton wool in our ears 🤣
