Another weekend of stormy weather was on the cards and not wanting to waste a Saturday at home taking shelter, we headed out to see 46100 'Royal Scot' on the Pennine Peak's & Valley's Explorer which was heading from Crewe to Blackburn via Hellifield. The video starts at Twemlow Viaduct in East Chesire just outside of Holmes Chapel, where we see the Scot powering along in wet and windy conditions while making for a fine sight over the fantastic viaduct ! Having just passing over the viaduct, 46100 is seen on the long approach to Goostrey Station and making for another fine sight as she glides through the station in full glory !
Now back on the road and heading in the direction of Lancaster I made a last minute decision to divert to Preston Station, As I realised the train was booked not to stop which is rare with steam specials when heading to Preston. Thankfully modernisation has yet to take hold at Preston and plenty of architectural character still remains at this station. Even though the steam special was booked not to stop, there was no guarantee that this would be the case and there was even the chance of a wrong platform approach, a very risky shot at a very busy station but thankfully I think it just about paid off !
