To all the people who have written on this song , this is my friend Darryl aka Royal Cash and his family are so appreciative in your effort to keep his music still going . I met Darryl many years ago on a Sunday in NYC walkig down the street with is guitar and a split second as he walked by I ran back about six blocks and introduced myself and the rest is history . Long Live the memory of Darryl " Royal Cash " Cash !!1! Rest in peace !!!!
i for one,at 57 years of age find this song so inspirational and ahead of its time,so many multi layers of creativity, only once in a lifetime do we hear such brilliance.
@@simmsive71is if i wasn't so lazy i'd go downstairs into the garage and dig out the 12" record I bought in 7 or 8th grade. no player, but I couldn't let go of the vinyl.
Man I was 6 when this came out and man all of my cousins &friends were hanging out bumping this and break dancing..Theres nothing like the 80’s and 90’s..This Generation and era is weird
This song reminds me of the innocence of original hip hop. People may not remember this, but the bloods and the crips called a truce, and instead of killing each other, they decided to battle each other with popping, locking, animation and mime skillz! That was a powerful time in music history! This song touches my soul and I hope it gives the younger generation new inspiration to push the creative limits while staying positive!
I remember my mum and dad bought me a sentra turntable and this was the first record I played on it! there are so many different layers to this track, blows my mind still and I am 56 love old skool electro until the end of my life.
This song was one of the greatest hip hop RB song of all time. It doesn't get enough love, so creative and unique, so perfect and timeless. RIP Darryl Cash

I live in New Orleans and used to go to the FAMOUS DISCO and this jam used to pack the floor BIGTIME!!!!!!! This song was one of my all time favorites. Thanks Darryl. May you rest in peace my friend.
An elderly person in 1983 even on their last days had to swing grind and funk to this. 40 yr here and will be playing g this to my hospice days "if I get there".....
soon to be 72 years young & this song still gets me moving---it shall live on forever because it lets the old stay young & makes the young think they invented something---my-my-my!!!
These youngsters killing it popping and breaking.wsy better then we all were. In my opinion anyways there's these twin brothers holly smokes they are the best. Google les twins! And puppet master I think it's world of dance maaaan that Russian lady got skills. Mad skills I think she's a little older too. Maybe 30s , early 40s. Not by her looks just by her demeanor. She's a bad1 . Bad in a good way lol
My stepdad showed me these songs in the late 70,s .. he was a regular on soul train and had his dance show with his twin brother on the strip in Vegas back in the good ole days.... They have passed on so hatsof off 👍👍👍
This is the ultumate party song! I can dance all night to this, RESPECT! Its Radio Active, back in the day, from Cali to Carolina to Chi Town, we rock!
Loved this song when I 1st heard it in early 84, was living in Florida and the ONLY WAY to get good music back then was to have a family member from n.y. make a tape and send it to you, BEST OF TIMES.
Yup and I was a skinny 15 with that heavy Sanyo boombox with the 2 mics on the end with the dual center antennas . I think it was the top of the line Sanyo boombox and cost me like $300. in the late 70’s. I loved that machine and it had a phone pre amp and I used to just plug in a turntable and tape records . It sounded incredible
This is the music that brought people together from different cultures, different backgrounds, from everywhere!! All breakdancing, popping, poplocking and just having fun!! Still jamming summer 2020 ! Much love from Virginia, but my best memories growing up in Cali!!! ❤🙏❤🙏
Let’s Jam…Let’s Jam…Radio Activity…Let’s Jam…. Brings back memories!

This takes me back to my college days especially 1983-84 where we partied 6 days out of the week. The DJ kept this on heavy rotation and we danced our tails off. I'm now a grandmother and my 14 year granddaughter loves it too!!!
this makes the feet, & everything else start moving---i don't care what others may think or say but, being almost 70 years young, this track brings out the 'youth' in me...
I was 17 in Cheraw SC visiting family, cousins took me to hole in the wall club in the sticks. Had a blast dancing and this song came on. The whole club was jumping up and down. The beginning of being grown.
I was station in Germany and my room mate was a New York born black German, who's grandma live in Kist , Germany where,in his room ,at his grandma house has the bad DJ Equipment and make the best mix tape ever. Big Ups, Oliver, much Love Gordon.
Tha Dogg Pound paid homage to this group by doing their own version in the 90s which is called Cali Iz Aktive. All in all, this is legendary and iconic. Skating rinks all over still play this and great. I’m just 24 btw. Was raised right musically. Father was a DJ back in the day.
@EddieHolmes TOTALLY FORGOT I knew/liked/used to have the vinyl of this song!😯🙄 MAJOR THANX 4 posting 😁 Reminded me of Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express and explains why I instantly connected with Klimaxx's MEETING IN THE LADIES ROOM / Young MC's BUST A MOVE when they were released 😏 Even the guitar parts remind me of Slade's SLIDE❤ When you mentioned roller rinks still playing this song it took me back to a uniquely special memory: the only time/song my children's father felt comfortable dancing to was Vaughn Mason & Crew's ROLL BOUNCE, another roller fave🤩 Since you mentioned your Dad was a DJ back in the day, maybe you both can help with an "ear worm" that's been bugging me 4 months: it's a line (incomplete) to a song can't find thru Google, singing into the mike, lyrics sites or friends who listened to same music ("Wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it? Here we go!..."😁 ) It's: "...Hippin and hoppin...New York (blank, blank) ...and Compton..." WHAT SONG IS THIS AND WHO DOES IT?????🤪 So I can finally get it out of my head! ("Obi One Kenobi, ur my only hope..." 🙄 ) Anywayz, thnx again 4 posting and taking the time to read this. Hopefully SOMEBODY knows 🤔
This track has nothing to do with the west coast.. give homage to NYC and the early hip-hop culture there (who invented it)(in the Bronx).. instead of mentioning "Tha Dogg pound" who all they did was try to emulate all the old school artist's..
"New York, its radio active....LA, its radio active....DC, its radio active, San Francisco, all systems go"!!! #lovethisbeat #electronicfunk #1980's #oleschool 🎤🎧🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Me and a young lady roller skating to this song, we became good friends. We both loved this song. After the skating rink closed. She moved and everytime I hear this song I THINK OF HER. It was a happy ending. Take care D. YOUR miss.
I was so glad to find this song after so many years! I've saved it to my FAVES and now I'm finna dance all over my living room! Let's JAM RADIOACTIVE!!!
Man this brings out memories. I have an older brother who had the big receiver with big speakers, and when he'd come in late at night, he'd let me come in sometimes and jam to that and others! Sniff's a little bit because my generation is........ I guess, I'll just say, Going away!
WE the near 50's ...call us the pioneers of Electric Boogie ... & ...Break Dance.......treated these sounds as a new religion ....thank God....WE grew up ...not rich...but proud to be a B-boy or a B-girl...black/white/yellow...we didn't care...it was ONE BIG FAMILY and that brought us to be the cool parents that we are till present days! Goooozzzebumps ! ! ! Cheers from STAGE73 Bboy Cosmic Breakers (ReuTlingen) South Germany
In a bad mood? Play “Radio Activity”. Depressed? Play “Radio Activity”. Empty dance floor? Play “Radio Activity”. It’s truly a panacea. #CompetitionIsNone
I’m 24 and I grew up listening to this great music passesd o to me through my uncles/aunts/ and my parents. I just wished I could’ve experienced an era but I have my families stories as well as all of you OG sstories in this comment section. JAM ON!
My talented, handsome cousin! Darryl Cash, graduate of Bartlett High School, born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Thank you all for the wonderful comments. Darryl did everything on the wax. When I was growing up all we heard in the House was Darryl amping his electric guitar. He played every instrument and did every voice in this cut. He was also the drum major when he was enrolled at Tennessee State University. May Darryl continue to RIP. He passed away in 2000. "What kinda music do you like?" Long live Radio Activity. The Cash Family
So sorry for your loss! My condolences to u & ur family! He was a gifted & talented person & this song created many a blisters on my feet because I would never leave the floor until the last beat! Ouch! Lol Great memories from a great song. RIP... Darryl Cash
This generation missed all the jams from the 70's 80's 90's !!@ we kut up back in day ! ( GROWN FOLKS STILL DO ) We all packed the floor, not stood around and looked at one another (mean mugging) what's up ? why ? Skating it was over we rocked that too ! THIS THAT SHIT STILL ! YALL MISSED IT KIDS !
That's when it all started for me. High school dances. Backyard parties. Nothing but pure fun and partying. Sad for the kids today. We had fun back then.
This song brings back so many memories for me! I remember listening to this chilling in the living room with my large headphones on that were attached to the big stereo! I can think and work to this song...
