@@MrJduke40 It had a few standouts but I agree, it doesn't hold up as a project. From what the MCs have said about it in retrospect, it sounds like an out-of-touch Eminem was forcing a mainstream sound on them based on trends and the group didn't push back enough.
@@calel5470 actually Royce put his hand up and said alot of the problems with that album was on him (Royce), cause he was trying to chase something that their core fans didn't really want to hear from them.
I think it was a mess because of the clash of the 2. If they picked a side that album would have been phenomenal. Even a full trap album if you will. Would have been one of the best trap albums ever made.
@@calel5470The production was terrible, if DJ Premier, Alchemist & Madlib were behind it, it would have been really good but Noooooooo Eminem had to add those pop artists in the hooks and beats, some songs don't need hooks because they ruin the flow
We don't look at it this way cuz these ppl are alive and with us right now; But our artists are the great philosophers of our time. From music 2 comedy, there's so much wisdom that can be gleaned from the creative mind forged from experience.

I feel they are in 2 very different places spiritually, there both right on the perspective of there level, but while Royce is still trying 2 learn about himself through himself lupe has already done that and is now looking 2 other angles to learn about himself.
Interesting perspective, I totally agree that at some point you can't just look inside for growth. You have to take in what's around you and express it through your filter.
Song do matter tho Lupe. Lasers and food and liquor 2 are proof of that...Lupe never lost a step with his rapping ability but I never go back to those albums
I agree more with Royce on his approach to creativity. When Lupe tries to do something too outside of his zone it totally sounds forced (lasers, friend of the people)

The reason Royce has a problem with doing commercial songs is because he can’t make them he’s a lyricist but he can’t make a fun song that’s entertaining and lyrical so he became hateful of making that type of music
