sin city well why not embrace truth and logic? That’s what’s wrong with society today, you speak a little truth, and people get offended. Everybody is so soft nowadays.
I'm so proud of Royce and how much he's matured musically and personally. Em is my favorite artist of all time, but don't use his name for clickbait to get your views up. Royce deserves more respect. Stream/Buy "The Allegory"
People need to understand that Royce knows well that Eminem is going to come up in every chance they get and he still does the interview he is not stupid he is taking advantage of being close to Eminem. You know the two times diamond best selling rapper of all time, people come for Eminem but may stay for Royce and he knows this, if he did not want Eminem to come up all he has to do is say that before the show and it will not come up. People want his favor and so will not anger him.
M4X I completely understand that. Royce admits the Em questions don't bother him because he's a dear friend. Bad Meets Evil questions are fine because it's relative, but to use Em in the title when he is hardly mentioned in the interview is disengenuous and disrespectful.
Mikelangelo Think about it bro. Eminem and Royce are damn near on par with each other in terms of talent, but Em is just SOOO much more popular. If Eminems name is going to bring in more viewers, and therefore more audience for Royce, how is that a bad thing? Thats why i doubt he would care. We live in an era where there is so much media that you NEED to clickbait in some way shape or form
Robert Alvarado I second your comment. Assuming he’s referring to MMLP... But I wouldn’t expect Royce of all people to not know the name of that album... So confused... Did he mean his favorite song? Then goes on to say Revival was his least favorite so he knew they were talking albums... lol wtf
This is one of the best interviews I've seen in ages!! Big ups to Kev, Hed and Royce. Them quick fire thought provoking non-generic non-cookie cutter questions were dope. Excellent interview and mad excited for a new Royce Album
balle733 your comment speaks for itself. I don’t even have to reply. You don’t even know my ethnicity or anything about me yet you call me racist just because I call someone black a pos because he is a pos for not returning his call and hearing his side of the story. Also him saying the n word isn’t even confirmed it didn’t even come from a reliable source. Now your comments have made you look unintelligent and made you look like the one who is racist. Go away troll.
balle733 and this is how rumors get started. First it was one of royces friends now it’s royces son. You know who started the rumors? Vlad who loves to start drama and say shit that isn’t true. If Yelawolf really said something racist then how come Royce don’t come out and say what he said? Because he doesn’t have anything. Yela came to him respectfully with a phone call to discuss what the matter was about and Royce denied his phone call like a little bitch. Talk man to man. Hash things out and get it over with. Yela should come back with bars and destroy him. So me saying someone black makes me racist? You just said only a “white person” would say that and you don’t think that’s racist? Hmm. Search up the word double standard in the dictionary and study it. This is my last reply to you because you lack of intelligence isn’t worth my time.
@@GABA-Gool you have to understand he has a woman fanbase that likes and looks forward to at least one song per Album with her or a song like they always do together. I love all the Em and Skylar songs I understand maybe his male fanbase don't want to hear it but us EM women fans do so I think he's got to please everyone and that's why he always has a song like that on his Albums.

I hope to get to see her and Em at a concert. Hopefully he'll do one here in the states even if it's in Detroit I'll gladly travel to see them.

MMLP my fav Em album TES his best in mi opinion without being biased Relapse my least fav, though I still listen to it There's no Em album that I really hate

I heard Yela used the "er" when saying the n word in the studio. Which Royce wont let go till Yela talks to him personally. But anyways, Royce tried to squash it behind closed doors but Yela didnt return the call. Idk why man, Yela probably has his reasons but come on. Y'all are friends, just squash it✌ Both are great in my opinion, Royce is higher up tho. Just my preference.
i'm so tired of y'all interviewers and fans disrespecting Royce by asking him questions about Em, as if he ain't a solidified, top-tier lyricist in the rap game. Em is already solidified as one of the best rappers in hip hop history; let Royce, who is a deservedly great rapper receive some shine without needing to mention another rapper's accolades and accomplishments.... Put some respeck on his name...
Sorry, Eminem is the only reason anyone even bother getting him on interviews, Eminem put Royce on, no one would know him if it wasn't for what Eminem has done for him.
TH alb I agree. As an Eminem Stan I like all of his albums, but Revival just didn’t sound good. I can enjoy it for its lyrics since it’s em, but it’s hard to listen to if you’re not worth putting in the time to get used to it
Pretty much agree. Like I see where he tried to take us, & what he was going for, & why. I think he might've heard the criticism he received thru his career, & attempted to put it to bed, ("Too old, too lyrical miracle, not really saying anything, doesn't make the best crafted SONGS/ALBUMS, is an asshole to other artists lol, etc...mind you, I either don't fully agree with all of this, or think it's nitpicking & he's just set the bar too high in his career for even himself to reach, fans n haters too, seems like ppl place unfair expectations on him with a criteria they don't hold other artists to esp other rappers they like. Cuz his young past is really his only comp. So imo he should NOT have let criticism get to him, & almost force him to make music he didn't necessarily want to make or to fix minor negative shit that wasn't that broken...since the music/album kinda suffered cuz of this mindset. But he's just a hiphop head, respects ppl opinions, & listens to his fans n even his critics & tried to make up for it, whether the criticism was warranted or not. So idk if that was honorable n the hiphop head in him...or his competitive ego, which most goat artists have, wanting to quiet the negative noise. Basically He let the negative criticism minority n "fixing his weaknesses" dictate how we went about it instead of the majority positive props n sticking to his strengths. Just speculating btw idk shit maybe Revival just wasn't it lol ) But seems he Tried to settle into A mature grown folk lane w/ more "conscious" content, fully fleshed out songs, & a complete album. & Not afraid, love way u lie, relatable adult father his way thru the album plus with recognizable/young collabs tho to offset his mature content. Never felt..."right" to me tho, or him it seems. He got pissed that he listened to criticism tried to fix it n stillllll got hate esp for the very things the opposite got hate for in his past, said F### THIS, & took his anger out on current hiphop n reminded fools who he was lyrically on Kamikaze. But while Revival was just a failed attempt with good intentions imo, to me Kamikaze was a rushed emo response to Revival n it's own criticism. Lyrically it's all-time Inspired Em with flows pockets patterns bars etc just didn't have the best songs n wasn't really a complete album, totally diff almost opposite issues Revival had. But "Music To Be Murdered By" is what both albums tried/wanted to be, neither album was, & was the best of both combined w/o flaws either had. Kept his tried n true strengths AND fixed perceived weaknesses his work has esp recent years. MTBMB is a legit complete n cohesive album, with bops, bangers, conscious rap, bars, w/ good production, hooks, n features.. n just well crafted SONGS. & Was the best of all the diff Em/Marshall/Shady lanes, styles, bags, etc that made him a great, all combined into one great ass project. & His pen is still as good as it always is n ever was. To drop this in his mid 40s with nothing left to prove deserves major props, & should get new generation hiphop fans/artists respect, n cement his all-time great n legendary artist legacy. If it already wasn't that is, gotta be now (Sorry for the Stan-ish saga I just typed lmao but I just got going on the topic n wanted to make sure I did Em right n fully explained my pov lol my bad)
My favorite Royce's album is Book of Ryan. My least favorite is Independant's Day. My favorite Eminem's album is The Marshall Mathers LP. My least favorite is Revival. Voilà. Great interview by the way. Royce is one of my favorites.
@@skyj2172 The Eminem Show is my second favorite of Em. What a classic. Near perfect. The only songs I don't like on that are Drugs and Superman. I understand for Encore. It's certainly one of his worst but it got some good moments especially in the first part of the album.
I agree.... The Eminem Show is my favorite album of his. He dropped that funny shit and went hard af. I wasnt into his first 2 albums because of the theme on them. And the Eminem Show changed my mind on Em from then on.
@@joeyuzwa891 The first 2 albums were nothing but funny shit. He even said it when interviewed about the direction The Eminem Show took. The slim shady ep had like 2 songs that were serious and maybe 3 on the next. 90% of TES was serious.
It's always a toss up for me between MMLP1 and The Eminem Show. On any given day I could say either one is my favorite. For different nostalgic reasons for each one.
For me the list is really unique I think lol: 1. Relapse 2. Eminem Show 3. Recovery 4. Kamikaze 5. Encore 6. MMLP 7. SSLP 8. MTBMB 9. Revival 10. MMLP2 Basically I like both the new and old em. But I'm mostly bumping the 09-10 Era Eminem.
@@controversialmann5345 sry that's just me... He yelled a lot and rapped way too fast, and I just didn't feel it. I think on kamikaze he managed to do what he was trying to on MMLP2 and make it sound good.
I’m actually surprised Revival was his least favorite because he was vouching for it when everybody else slammed it. For me tho, Encore is my least favorite Em album. You can tell he was heavy on drugs with it and almost seemed to half ass it.
[Ids5621-Retro] it’s nothing about handling it. I enjoy all of Eminem’s work but for me it’s his weakest. For you it’s different. Nothing wrong with that. My favorite album is MMLP.
[Ids5621-Retro] encore is not better than recovery, mmlp2 or kamikaze or music to be murdered by. And i dont even really like those albums that much. Encore is so ridiculous and bad. The “comedy” is funny if youre like 12
Might just be how big of a fan he is of the other Em projects as opposed to how much he dislikes Revival. Like it's the worst good Em album to Royce ya know lol idk just speculating
Using logic, Royce was most likely talking about The Slim Shady LP, or else he would’ve said Marshall Mathers album. And Revival _is_ *indeed* Eminem’s worse album. That’s just facts tho
@KIRBOSKI no classic shady album to everything on the eminem show was a hit real slim shady was on mmlp which was the shady Mecca of albums of nofucksgiven 🤣 still till this day em slaughtering the M I C
The thing is he contradicts himself as being petty or vindictive when he’s asked if he puts yelawolf in the same category as kid rock as far as backpacking off hip hop. He says “right now...I do” meaning he’s only saying that because he’s got a current issue with him. Yelawolf came up off paying homage to the culture and was straight hip hop. Kid rock was as much hip hop as limp bizkit was. Lame ass comparison. Also it’s pretty lame to say “he could have reached out” then go onto say he did reach out and you didn’t respond. How fuckin childish are you?
Agree with ya. However Kid Rock started off rapping in the late 80s, nd dropped his first project in 1990. Are rap artists not allowed to venture out into different genres. Look at what Nelly did. Other rappers/groups like Pimp C, Nappy Roots have elements of country, rock in their music.
MarkB 1181 nobody knows those projects though. On top of that one could argue that although he may have started out that way he found his niche and went to more of a rock sound. Yelawolf has always stayed hip hop even through his country / rock mixes. Idk. It’s stupid for people like Royce to automatically make someone a culture vulture simply because they are white. He’s done that before.
I think you misunderstand that exchange. Yela didn't reach out until AFTER the verse dropped. He was saying he should have reached out BEFORE and that verse never would have happened. You sound like a super Yelawolf fan, so I'm not judging your intimate response to this, but Royce is quite known for having hands. If you think he is fake, you really are out of touch with who that man is.
Om Wow no I didn’t miss anything. How exactly was yela supposed to know how pissed Royce was BEFORE the verse dropped? On top of that it’s not about being a fan of one more than the other, if anything I like their music equally. If you want to know though I’ve done business with Slumerican, yelawolf , shady records and interscope etc. Its about knowing a little more than the average watcher. Yela and Royce aren’t best friends, they don’t communicate like that. The incident Royce is talking about didn’t even directly have to do with yela. It was a third party. My point is that you can’t mention he didn’t reach out then mention he did but you ignored him. I don’t care if it was before or after , one min you make it sound like he’s a total dick but then when he reaches out you become the dick? Doesn’t make sense on his part as far as not wanting to spread negativity. Lastly I never used the word fake. I said childish. Which Royce is a little petty. He’s proven that in the past. Even with Em. But finally idk how many years back you’re talking about but Royce hasn’t had a fight with anyone since the early 2000’s. Last person he confronted was Reakwon and he didn’t throw any hands. So all that talk is unnecessary. I’ve personally seen yela beat the shit out of people as well. Idk why we are talking about that though. 🤷♂️
I fully agree. So the story goes, royces bro was behind the closed doors with YELLER an royce album artist. White dudes have been using the Nword an Royce artist came to yelawolf wanted YELLER to handle the issue. But yella brushed it off as if your a man stand up for your convictions. An he reached out to royce instead. Son of course yella has zero respect for that approach.
So the thing with Yela happened "behind closed doors" and then Royce makes it public and accuses Yela of being "a racist" cause he felt a certain way about what someone told him Yela said? GTFOH.
Research it bro Wolf was calling one of Royce’s label rappers a hard R, along with his (Wolf’s) white DJ. Not in a kind friendly way, disrespectful and demeaning.
That 5'9-Butcher collab is crazy! Gibbs and Royce d be sick! Still don t understand people calling revival Em s worst album. To me it will always be relapse. Surprising that Royce agreed with the masses on that one. Dope interview!
The album was dope we see a side of em that we rarely see, i felt though the music sonically wasnt the best, meaning it wasnt as pleasing to me as other things em did. But walk on wayer and velive hit hard
@Will Pulera facts but that wasnt the first song they ever did. Em and Royce released BME Scary Movies on wax on Game records just before Dre signed Em

My take on the N word is it that it shouldn't be used by anyone. Like... My guy, if u feel offended someone using the N word on you... DONT USE IT EITHER! And don't be ok with with it when someone says it depending in their skin colour.
@@dannydan4634 well...? The people or the race? Because my personally I have nothing to do with those individuals. I live on the other side of the planet. Is it "OK" for me to say the N word since I am not in any way related to those people that have used it as a racial slur?
BEEF WITH YELAWOLF: Royce sent one of his artists to Alabama to work with Yelawolf, & his white DJ was saying the N word with the ER at the end. When the artist approached Yelawolf about it, YW started saying the N word, basically saying that he’s accepted enough by black folks to use that term, and that’s just how he speaks. Royce got pissed. DJ Vlad was told this from a reliable source (Crooked I) & spoke about it during a recent interview with lord Jamar on the subject).
Alex Wolf Alex Wolf yeah? Everyone you mentioned had a falling out/animosity towards one another. Highly doubt yela called someone the N word having black children he cares for lol
Does anyone have any source besides Vlad running his mouth to Lord jamar? Has crooked I publicly said anything at all? Or is this just something people are running with now?
I think it should be okay for a non-black people to use the N-word especially when hanging with people where they talk that way. If you're white a grew up in the ghetto and most and your best friends are black and basically a brother... Why shouldn't you be allowed to talk like those around you if you're considered one of them? We can't let history determine our future, the present should. Anyone can talk about Hitler despite what he did and no one really cares. He's a popular topic in comedy despite being one of if not the worst human being ever. The only line that should be drawn is not saying the the N-word with the 'r' whether you talk up or down someone or just casually. Because with the 'r' sound more offensive while with the 'a' it's more chill. White people can't talk like black people then black people can't talk like white people. Because if we judge from history some words being said by a black person one can interpret it as the black person believing he's equal to the white person and so have the privilage to use those words... That would be fucked up. So if it's one way it should be the other way too for fair game. Geez.
I dont think people talk about it enough but we are so blessed to have this man healthy. We almost lost him not too long ago to alcoholism and now hes literally in the prime of his career making his best work to date and spreading an extremely powerful message. God bless the GOAT!
Downtown Raps truth man. I’ve got a few friends that went through similar things, not trying to stereotype but once they get clean and STAY clean, they seem so introspective and see the bigger picture
Iny honest opinion, I think Royce gets asked about Em a lot bc of their history together. He seems closer to Em than anyone in D12 (besides Proof). They did an album together if not, two of them along with multiple songs. He's also one of the few people close to Em that honestly keep it real in regards to Em instead of dickriding him which a lot of other artists that know Em do.
Yelawolf doesnt need to call you about some fake news from your so called homie saying his dj said n word... You cant pick the phone up? Instead you start chatting on your album about it.... cmon bruh
How is yelawolf living off the back of hip hop culture? He's been in the rap game for over a decade and always shown respect to it. If these obviously bs accusations were true and this is really how yela treats black people, I doubt there would be so many working with him.
Yeah... I agree, and even though 5'9' is my absolute favorite, I feel like he definitely got this thing with yelawolf wrong... yelawolfs has 2 mixed kids, the momma of his babies is a black woman

I dunno how to react to the “N” word rules when it relates to Latinos, or better yet to New Yorkers, I feel like when we grow up poor in New York and we’re in a melting pot we pickup on our cultures and so if you’re hood you’re hood at that’s that. We come from a different world than the rest of the U.S. explains why Fat joe, the Beat Nuts, Immortal Technique, Cypress Hill, Joel Ortiz, Pun used it... I could keep going but I won’t my point is that we grow up in the culture and atleast from my Latino street view I’ve never seen or meant the term in a negative term. We grow up very differently from the rest of America.
I feel like if you are not black then you cant use the word. Why is there such a big want to use that word. You dont need to use it so why even bother complaining about it. It would be different if they said you cant use any other word but you dont need to use that word at all, so dont
@panthero but that's not the issue though. The problem is, people dont understand eachother. Black people have been through alot lore shit than any other race, everyone knows that. So if they feel like that word effects them because of there families past then why do you need to use the word? Respect their decision and then if you have a problem with people using the wrong word towards your race then they can respect that but, it starts when people just accept to not use the "N" word and grow up. Your complaining about not being able to use a word while our earths being destroyed and there are school shootings all the time. I think we have bigger problems
I grew up in Roxbury MA and it was the same. Puerto Ricans used the word. Dominicans, Cape Verdeans. I think black Americans viewed you all just like ourselves. I mean every hood probably has their own way they deal with the word. I know NY had this on a greater scale though because your city is bigger but we definitely had different races of people in my hood in Roxbury who used the word. To be honest I think generationally speaking black Americans dealing with the stuff they've dealt for 100's of years in America we were cool with any people who would deal with us like we were normal people. Of course we also most likely had discrimination aimed at us from the same establishment and that is how the establishment sees you anyway.
I wouldn’t overthink it.... most of what you say is how you say it or how you mean it. I’m a 38 year old white guy from Atlanta.... I’ve been seeing little white kids calling their black friends nigga to they’re face... and for whatever reason they all seem cool with it. I personally would never have the balls to call even my closest black friends nigga.... maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s where I’m from and the type of people that live around here and how that word has such a different context coming out of a white persons mouth to a black person in the south.... even if I didn’t mean anything by it I wouldn’t say it.... even if I wanted to say it affectionately I wouldn’t say it. Latinos, Asians, hell anyone not white it pretty well seems to fly.... Do I care??? Nah..... the only type of white dudes that get upset cause they can’t black guys nigga are the white guys that wanna called black guys nigga in the 1st place 😂... and that’s just a bad look
I think it's just the history behind the word, it was used to dehumanise a black person, oh he got beat to death, it's just a 'N'. Black people flipped the word and made it mean something more empowering but that's why it's offensive when other races say it. Simply put if you're unsure just don't. If you grew up with whatever friends and there's no bad meaning behind it because it's just the way you've been used to talking with your friends or society maybe just the simple fact that it could cause offense or upset avoid saying it for them reasons.
Honestly homie Hip Hop is a culture, not a race. White people can be Hip Hop to the bone- and for me, and to many my opinion may mot matter because I'm half white (half hispanic as well)- and in my eyes it's perfectly acceptable to say nigga. It's when you're not enveloped in the culture like people who just listen to music to listen to it and not dissecting bars and being engaged with hip hop that it becomes unacceptable.
50 Cent said it back in '03, Eminem don't like to take credit for the amazing things he's done for people, Royce Da 5'9 is amazing but the truth is, we wouldn't know who he is without Eminem, especially with the features Eminem gets him on and the whole album they did together.
victor keeps it 100 y’all lying!! Royce been around forever and nobody was knowing him until around 2010. He been writing songs for dre and em since dre released 2001. Why? That argument is so stupid. If it's unacceptable for non black people to say the word because it's offensive, why is it then not offensive for black people to say it?? It's such a flawed and stupid argument. It's either all bad or all good. If black people take offense when other skin "colors" say it then they shouldn't say it themselves, if they are going to say it then everyone else can say it. It goes both ways.
The Yelawolf thing is about loyalty to Em. The MGK song that Yela kept on his album. Royce is doing what Em asked him to do. Paint Yela as a racist. There is no proof of Yelawolf being racist. That's why Royce won't get into what Yelawolf actually did or say. Because there's nothing there. Except for Em being pissed that Yelawolf had the audacity to keep that MGK record on his album. That's what this is.
@@CrayzMark there isn't, you're right about that. But I do know that, that's what Yelawolfs camp thinks. They think Em gave Royce the marching orders to do what he did. What's Yela gonna do? Royce lyrically is the best right now. Best thing my guy Yelawolf can do is to keep it moving. I'm a fan. I ain't going nowhere.
