The first song from Gothic 3 "Vista Point" is probably my favorite out of all of the songs on this playlist. It's very beautiful! Makes me want to try out the Gothic series! I also use this tracklist for reading/writing, it's perfect. Thank you for making this!
You really should... It's a bit tricky to get it running on newer PC's but it's one of my favourite games ever... I used to watch my father play it when I was like five... It is such a beautiful game... Especially Part 1&2
Play 1 and 2 first, 3 was rushed (the devs themselves said that they let the story have an open ending because they lacked the time to finish it). There is really no other game like the original two.
Philipp Christmann You probably should give GoG a go and look into their forums for support. From my experience GoG most of the time applies some fan patches and tries to make the older titles they have up in the store playable today, in contrast to Steam which I have heared has a bad habit of throwing a game out and not really giving a damn to check for any compatibility issues.
Yes, in fact, it's the only good thing that came with it. I remember, the first day the game was released, until I stop playing at, I was travelling almost everytime to get all those Vistas points. Despite of that, the game is empty-minded in the end... It's really a shame. It could have been soo much better. Those new MMORPGs and expansions of all sorts are absolutely bad compared to the old ones.
Bjornson R I wouldn't say that Guild Wars 2 is bad, I would rather say that Guild Wars 2 changed too much, the first game was very nice, I like the 2 class combination system, shame that they didn't include that in GW2...
Bjornson R I would say maybe nostalgia factors too much in the equation to "the new MMOs are all bad compared to the old ones". Then again, that's just what I think.
Kaedalus TheCrustiCroc You could say it, it's a logical thought and nostalgy use to be an important factor when you judge something on the first time... But not in the 2 or 3 or 4. Guild wars 2 was a huge idea that Arenanet had come to mind. There are more into the action thing (like most of new mmos nowadays, and forget that the first point in a MMORPG is rpg indeed, Rol). The first one was very good and well balanced overall, and very original. The 2 was intented to be the same in that aspect, but the game ended to feel like it was not made into the end (Lore aspects unfinished, quests rush, poor and repetitive content that people ended to hate, asking for more). No "trinity" was an idea they couldnt put well into the game, making dungeons too chaotic and bosses boring, and the gameplay was simplified to poor level, so simplified that it get bored playing at (gameplay on 1 was really great), I guess for who people use to call "casual players", thought I prefer to call them "people who don't want to learn how to play a game little by little and want it all at the same time" would be a better definition. For an MMORPG, it is bad, for an MMO, it is not that bad, though it's not my style. PS: class combination system on 1 was incredible indeed.
Bjornson R I do agree on the Lore aspects, though I myself did enjoy the gameplay - and I believe it is quite deep, just some people don't get it or don't like it. I myself took quite some time (around a year) to discover how it really was meant to be played and that did renew my interest in the game (I had stopped playing regularly, dropping by only once a few weeks). I admit there is probably something wrong with it, considering it took me that long to really grasp it. The game really needs some tweaking and the works on it will probably go a long way - still, I am having fun with it and know many people who like it and also many people who don't. What I'm most glad about GW2 was that, with it's proposal, it made a lot of MMOs stray from the WoW, grind/gathering-quest-based gameplay - but now I'm straying from the topic.
