On Saturday the 22nd of April 2023, the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland ran a diesel tour from Dublin Connolly - M3 Parkway, Sligo & Grand Canal Dock with a very rare appearance on the Docklands Branch.
Ex Belmond Grand Hibernian 201 class loco number 216 had the honors of being the first ever 201 class locomotive to haul a passenger train to Sligo.
This was also the first time a railtour has appeared on the Docklands Branch since the 9th September 2017, and the first time the Craven Coaches have appeared on the line since the 10th May 2015. So a very welcome sight indeed!
071 class locomotive number 075 was on hand for the various return trips where a run round was not possible,
Sunday the 23rd April 2023 saw steam locomotive number 85 'Merlin' run to Dundalk and preform shuttle trips to Drogheda before returning back to Connolly. These clips were filmed at Raheny & Portmarnock Famers Bridge.
All in all it certainly was an action packed weekend, I just wished there was more sunshine!
