I'm looking at getting a new set of shocks for my Silverado, but was shying away from these because I live in the rust belt and saw a lot of people saying the adjusters start corroding/not working well before the shock dies. Excellent idea to grease the adjuster. I'll be getting a set and doing the same. Thanks for the video.

What kind of company make it’s customers put on its stickers for them. Make you install the dust guards and make you disassemble the new product and grease them? lol Thanks for the video. You’ve convinced me to stay away from these.

Rancho does those things for a couple reasons I imagine. They don’t put the stickers on because shocks all get installed at different angles and orientations. I imagine the reason they have you put boots on is to save the cost. They do grease them, just not enough for people like me who live in the rust belt. If you live in the south you can get away without greasing them. Thanks fir Watchin!

U can also use white lithium grease right? Instead of the blue grease?
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 2 месяца назад
Yes that’s a good one to use. The only bad thing about white lithium grease is, it doesn’t like plastic or rubber (they say). I’ve never had an issue though. Thanks fir your comment!

What kind of tape did you us, Silicone, Duct? Link to purchase it. Great Idea.

Hey I’d love to link it but I’m a new RU-vidr so they won’t let me use links yet. I just used red electrical tape. Whatever ya want will work tho.

What kind of grease did you use?
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 4 месяца назад
I used Lucas Marine grease. Any light or white lithium, (petroleum jelly) would probably be the best even. I like Marine grade or white lithium because of the cold temperatures and excessive moisture here. Just a dab will do tho!

Nice video. Can I use my own boot protector ?

I imagine if it’s near the same diameter and length it’d be fine 👍

Heavy springs or mild springs matter with the ranchos Sir???
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 2 месяца назад
They’ll be fine for either since they are adjustable. I always start at a low setting and adjust up till I get the best performance. I definitely recommend keeping the front settings the same and the rear the same. For example, the front setting #4 then setting #2 for the rear.

I took out the 2 allen screws and the plunger/cylinder shot out! Along with all the oil!! $130 shock ruined.
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 6 месяцев назад
Never had that happen. Did you have it on the lowest setting? I’ve done it countless times always on the lowest settings.
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 6 месяцев назад
David I’m sorry to hear that happened to you bud! I’ve done this to many dozen of these and never had an issue. You’re the first to let me know of an issue. If you can’t warranty it or I can help in anyway let me know. I plan to try to reach out to the manufacturer to understand more. The design may have changed.. If I can help lemme know David.

Good news! Called Rancho to see taking off the knob is recommended. Tech said that it’s probably a good idea. Took it back where I bought it. Rancho made it good. I checked the other 3 with no issues. Shocks are on!

@@davidsouza200 Hey thanks for the update David! I truly was concerned when you had that issue. I seen feller years ago do it and I’ve been doing it ever since.Im glad you got it sorted! Hopefully you’ll enjoy them. Play around with different settings. I’d at least keep the front sides the same. And the rear the same . Such as 2 clicks up in the front, 4 up in the rear. Just an example. Enjoy!

Maybe he removed the screws with the shocks compressed/under pressure. Maybe that's why the plunger/cylinder shut out

They don’t come greased
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 5 месяцев назад
As you can see in the video they have a very little and very light amount of grease like petroleum jelly. In this climate I prefer to have extra grease. I stated in the beginning of the video that it isn’t necessary, I just prefer to do it. You may not want to mess with it like a viewer David did. He said it came out and leaked the oil. I’ve never had it happen in 10 years of doing it but you may not want to. DO NOT DO IT WHILE THEY ARE INSTALLED!!! If you do remove it be careful to have it on the lowest setting and fully extended as I stated in the video!

It can fit to 2004 infiniti qx56?

It looks like you have coil overs (struts) in the front. The rear maybe the same as my truck. I’ll check with my guy’s and gal’s at o’Reilly’s when they open.I’ll get you the part number. Is that vehicle lifted?
@abdulnooh9002
@abdulnooh9002 10 месяцев назад
I only need rear shock, not lifted all stock, my problem is no oem shock available in the market, that why i want know if rancho rs9000xl can fit to my vehicle.
@abdulnooh9002
@abdulnooh9002 10 месяцев назад
I think it can fit base on ebay and autozone online store, but maybe the shock will be compressed completely because of the stock height. Maybe i need to lift my vehicle in order to maximize the performance of rancho shocks
@unclelemme
@unclelemme 10 месяцев назад
They do make a kit for that has all four without a lift. A lift will definitely help with travel. I’m assuming you are planning on doing off-roadin. Usually you can lift upwards of 4 inches without too many modifications. If you go six or more, there’s a lot of things you need to change.
@unclelemme
