"Someone who wants to turn the trail into a skate park". That's exactly what I want in my next trail bike! You're saying all the right things about this bike for me. I'm sold.
Wow! What your able to do on that bike is amazing! I have the 29er 140 mm stock fork on mine, I wanted to experiment with it as a mullet. Hardtail party said change fork to say a 120mm with the 29er wheel. Alex said just throw a 29er wheel on it with my stock 140 fork. I did it, it made it a little more peppy. Do a video as a mullet and see what it does. I too ride 415 chainstays and can’t bring myself to change it. If it ain’t broke- don’t fix it. Do what you can to get this video out there, because what your doing on that bike is what I’m sure a lot of people wish they could do on a mountain bike. I don’t know if dirt jumpers can do that bmx stuff, but they sure can’t run those races you where in at any decent finishing time.
It's awesome how many tire/wheel size combos you can run on this frame! I'm glad you're liking it as a mullet. And that sounds like a fun idea for a video! My wife, Wendy, runs full 29", so maybe I can swap on her front wheel and try it out!
@@fischermtb I have Santa Cruz newer mullet, I love the way it rides. The RSD came in a 27.5 front and back, but it came with a 140 mm fork which is a a 29er. It is made buy RSD middlechild. I only ride it with a 29er in front(mullet). It is faster and it carves. Front 29er doesn’t get hung up. I think Maxxis Disector front and rear, I like these the best, they roll fast, but have plenty of grip. So yes mullets are Fun!
4:26 You should try VHS 2.0 chain stay protector, it has knobs with air pockets, so it greatly reduces the noise, it's strong rubber, with 3M VHB adhesive, which is the same stuff Go Pro mounts us, so will stay on for a long time.
Both super rad bikes! I chose the alloy over the steel Middlechild simply due to price. The Marley is great too, but I personally think the Middlechild’s geometry can’t be beat at the dirt jumps!
Nice! How do you like it? think that’s probably the better call for most guys our height, but I prefer the agility and playfulness of the smaller frame to the stability and speed of the larger. Both are great though, just different tools for different jobs!
It is, 27.5” x 2.4” tires with a 27.5” fork. The bike already has a pretty high bottom bracket and I run short 165mm cranks and haven’t had any issues with pedal strikes
Have you tried their standard dvo fork? Thoughts? I got this bike in March. I think you're spot on, however, I miss the compliant feel of my Niner SIR 9 sometimes. Really like it, and would like to see you get the steel and titanium frame to get your thoughts other than Hardtail Party's. Alex may agree too!
Hey there! I actually haven’t ridden any DVO products (I built the bike up from the frame). What are your thoughts on the fork? To be honest the aluminum Middlechild is more compliant than my previous frame, the Marin San Quentin, so I’ve been pretty happy with it! I’d imagine the ti and steel frames would be even more so though!
@@ridingwithjoshandwendy hard for me to say, my previous bike has a blown rockshox 100mm shock. Demoing bikes never last long enough for me to appreciate any differences. This dvo one feels fine, but hard to judge with 27.5 plus tires? 8 guess it's fine? Kinda miss a lockout
The DVO Diamond D3 as supplied with the RSD MC is nothing compared to the D2 or D1. Think of it like a Rockshox Judy Silver with 35mm stanchions. I found this out when I went to service the lowers and nothing matched the service instructions on the DVO website. A quick call to DVO New Zealand and I was told this is made by Suntour (as is all DVO stuff - under license. I believe). The service was easy once I knew the differences. Having said all that, the D3 works for me but I'm 5'8 60kgs (130 ish lbs) and I'm learning how to make the most of this bike.
Im digging deeper into buying one of those. I think it’s because I found your channel. I live in Sweden so a full build will be really expensive with tax, duties ,shipping etc. maybe I will go for a steel frame and build it up from scratch. What wheel size du you like the best? Not many options I wider rims than i30. I think that will work with 2.6 tires. It’s that what you are running? Or wider? I don’t fully understand if a 2.6 tire will be smaller in diameter than a 2.8 plus tire or if it’s just the width and it’s just called plus because it’s wider than a normal mtb tire. Thanks again for a great channel
Glad to hear that man, really is an amazing bike! I built mine up from the frame as well. In terms of wheels I run 27.5x2.5 on i29 rims. I’m sure you can fit 2.8s on your i30 rims!
Great Video. I am kind of confused between Middlechild, Chameleon and Banshee Paradox or Engima. Have you ridden those and what do you think about them. How do they compare with each others. Thank you
Thanks! All three are great bikes. The Chameleon is going to be the closest to an XC feeling bike, the Middlechild and Paradox are both great all arounders (with the MC being a bit more playful and the Pradox being a bit faster) and the Enigma is the most aggressive, freeride-like hardtail
love it and even more the i love the company any issues i ever had they handled directly with me i even had a cracked frame and they sent a new one out to me right away
Yeah ditto on that praise for the Rsd company and Alex! Many email conversations with him before buying and even after buying. I have asked questions on the chat line on the website on weekends and holidays and have gotten an immediate response! I kid you not. Maybe I just got lucky, but for sure that’s the experience I have had with Rsd. I like to support local bike shops, but honestly you will have more bike knowledge adout these types of bikes then they do. Rsd, one of the top shelf bikes and a lot of bang for your buck!
