Obviously can't be sure if this is the case for Ginge's (because it's fucked) but Aprilia V4s tend to sound like a bag of spanners on start up. The cam chain tensioner is oil fed and it takes a little bit for it to settle out. They're also fairly agricultural at low revs (below ~4k rpms). That shorty end-can won't be helping either. They're an absolute peach of an engine though.
