Join me for a brief walkthrough of RSW’s Midfield Terminal Concourse C. This beautiful facility was built in 2005, and included the construction of 3 concourses (B, C & D) with a total of 28 gates. The C concourse is located at the center of the terminal, and houses Delta, United, and WestJet. I have many fond memories of flying in & out of this concourse-especially on NW & DL 757s. Prior to the NW/DL merger, Northwest used Gates C7, C8, & C9. I’ve always been fond of the C6-C9 area, as it provides great views of the entire airfield and the old control tower from 1983. That specific area of the concourse also captures the coziness and character of RSW’s original terminal concourses-but with much larger windows & modern amenities! At the front of the concourse, Gates C1 & C2 are currently closed off to accommodate a new centralized security checkpoint for all concourses. Those gates will be relocated and re-open once the construction has been completed. Future expansion plans also call for the construction of Concourse E in the coming years. Previously, a few small scale upgrades were implemented back in 2019, including new carpeting, gate podiums, and flight information displays. New jetways were also installed in 2021. This facility has aged incredibly well-and looks just as spectacular, bright and modern as it did when it opened 19 years ago!
