The Irish Independent has revealed the real RTÉ top 10 earners, as executives match star presenters’ pay. Joe Duffy and Adrian Lynch head the table as five management team members make list. The new figures put paid to the notion the so-called ‘talent’ were the sole top earners in RTÉ.
Fionnan Sheahan (Ireland Editor, Irish Independent) joins Pat Kenny to discuss the story.

I wrote something similar and my comment was deleted . Pat kenny also objected to a rehab being built near his home because he was worried about the badgers living there

@@gxhhher3896 I think it was more to do with the fact he tried to annex the land but lost the court case, the actual owner sold the plot of land to another party and PK objected to the development probably out of spite, €1,000,000 a year does not buy morals

Yeah pat. And you were RTE’s highest paid EVER in 2008 at €950,000. The Irish establishment gravytrain. Now the gravey train kings in government are giving RTE €750m on my money. The gravy train rooks on. 😤

RTE needs to be dissolved at this point. The Government has completely failed in getting this addressed. They brought back the tv licence, with these wages it seems like the license payments and taxpayers money Top-Up not to mention that RTE gets additional revenue from ads on multiple platforms, sponsorship deals and product placements. This is blatantly fleecing the tax payers

Seven Hundred and Twenty Five MILLION Euros of Tax Payers money for a Third Rated broadcasting organisation , What a waste of money , Privatise it the government should do as it did with Irish Shipping / Aer Lingus those companies are making money for the Irish State ,R T E is a Burden on the State and it,s Tax Payers , Should the Government go down that rout you,ll see a lot jump ship .Keep the transmitting it,s valuable .

Public sector state broadcasting is essential for Irish Culture and Democracy and havent been given their full budget so more redundancies will be required thats scandalous mismanagement by these senior executives who should all be limited to a ceiling of 150k or face redundancy. The Talent and senior technical operatives with key operational/ production/ investigative journalism/ fact verification skills are more vital to the RTE public service than any ceo or fin controller.

But even still, even if it's public, even if it's partly paid by taxes (and their own ads etc I should point out), why is this a big issue? I mean if you rise to the top of your profession why shouldn't you get compensated? AI researchers in the US are paid 400,000 on average, what RTE is being paid is not much in comparison.
