Yesterday, I have yet another Ignitor failure. This will be the 3rd ignitor I'm on now. Replacement is brutal. I feel like this is a flawed design. Y'al need to fix this. I used a kitchen torch to light it now while I wait for my 3rd ignitor. I wanted to buy another rec-tec but I'm starting to look at other brands.
Thanks for the video, and a shout out to Jeremy at recteq support! You folks' customer service is a big reason why I recommend your products to others.
Last year I had to replace my augur. This year I have to replace the igniter rod. I would like my RecTeq a lot more if I didn’t have to repair it so often.
Same as others, mine went out on my Bull. Started by tripping my ground fault breaker and ended with no more igniting. Got my replacement which included a new firepot. My wires were routed differently, but close enough (mine aren't bunched under fan, they are routed on the back underside, like that better). Close enough. Video was more than just helpful. Took about 20 minutes. Working great again.
The igniter on my 700 just went out, the support at recteq was excellent, David walked me through some tests and has a new one on the way. Used a blow torch to get the grill going while i wait for the replacement unit. Thanks recteq!
I am glad to see a video of how to repair this and don’t get me wrong I don’t watch the cooking shows because they are too long but like the other gentleman said in one of the comments if you slowed it down it would be helpful to people who are not mechanically inclined owner of a Rectec 700 Thanks
Left out one item on this install video. If you were instructed to disconnect a red wire on the control panel to perform an igniter test during troubleshooting call, reconnect this wire before plugging in to test new install. Other than that, this video is spot on. My old 680 is smokin’ again! Customer Service was wonderful!
Finally someone with a brain replacing the ignitor! Cutting the old wire and using it to fish the new one through is the only way to go! But I would have used a drill driver to unscrew and screw in the fire pot.
For people whom are little slow, it would help if this video was slowed down by 35-50%. This would make it easier to watch and understand better. A little audio narration would even be beneficial for some. Not all owners are real mechanical inclined and some are veterans with disabilities. Thank you!
My igniter went out on my 700. RecTec sent me a new one immediately. I watched this vid to learn how to replace it. Great vid but I gotta say, the first step should have been to clean up the inside of the grill. Always work in a clean environment whenever possible.
Just a heads up, the video and instructions say to rotate the firepot counter clockwise. After about 5 minutes or so of frustration I decided to try clockwise and it came out just like the video. Also the ignitor rod wires were white and red on mine. Otherwise the video was a lot of help.
The new ignitor rod does not seem to fit into the tube that goes into the firepot because of the little prongs on the end of the rod. Do I need a new firepot?
