Was born in 73. That was a seriously unique period when things were looking modern, yet there were plenty of old things around. That AEC engine is sounds sublime. The wheels look great without the dress covers on. Look even better with them in though!
Red Rover used a few ex. LT on many of their routes out of Aylesbury ( the more important destinations were served with Renowns.) An RT was my transport to school for five years in the sixties. I’ve always thought they were exactly what every bus should be. Well done for preserving some.
When I was about 12, was an LT spotter, living in Iver. Heard LT were selling off RTs. Wrote, dreaming, to LTEx, 55 The Broadway and received a reply detailing a selling price of £100 per. Dad said 'No'.
Nice bus and well done for the time and effort and expense in preserving our transport heritage. It sounds good on the audio but there is a noticeable clunk from the gearbox, low air pressure possibly?. Thanks.
Hi back in the 1960s we would go to school in a double deck red bus some times we had one like this with the long radiators of what we later learned were the R.T. sometimes the shorter ones of the Route master.
Having a bit of a workout there at the wheel turning it around. Doesn’t get any better with 60 passengers on board! Could just do with a better, more directional mic if your shooting any more clips but otherwise good to look at. Cheers
Thanks for posting part 2 Michael. btw, may i ask yourself or anyone on here. How do you manage to source components like an RT gearbox bucket and spring? I never saw that many break during my years on the tools, but then if one did go you ended up with no drive at all. Just a thought. Cheers.
Hi Michael you should make a DVD of the bus and sell it to aid the Restoration costs as that is what i would do i was the owner or if i had my own bus.
