Crazy how if it was just an ‘average’ everyday dog, God forbid they died during the prank, no one would’ve gave a pure shit about em. But once you put them in a warfare type scenarios involving different schools, they’re so special, it’s as if they’re an elected official. Now I have NO problems with that, I friggin Love dogs. I know this video is older, but here’s why Reveille is the highest ranking member: in the military, working animals are traditionally one rank higher than their handler, even though it’s not officially recognized by the individual branches. There’s no clear reason, but some people believe it’s so harsher punishments could be inflicted on the handler for abusing the animal, others think it’s because some of the more seasoned dogs had just as much to teach new handlers as the human instructors. Either way, the military tradition is for the animal to be a rank higher.

I remember while i was in job training for the navy down in florida, we had a similar story. A bunch of marines somehow got a squirrel drunk and shaved a lieutenants bars (Captain for other branches) into its back. Now every time you see it, you salute it like it's an officer.

Both Reveille V and VI were staying with Mascot Corporal John Lively's family's home in Dallas ahead of the New Year's Day Cotton Bowl game against Notre Dame. Reveille VI was let outside in the fenced backyard early in the morning, according to The Eagle. When a family member went to let her back in the house, she was gone. Lively and other E-2 cadets spent the next few days searching for Reveille before notifying A&M officials on Dec. 29. The alleged kidnappers, who called themselves the "Rustlers," contacted the Austin-American Statesman and demanded a ransom: "A&M had to publicly announce that Reveille had been stolen and state that UT was superior to A&M," according to The Eagle.
