I would love to see if the LV80 heads would work with the EAD10 without adding triggers like they recommend for regular mesh heads.

I don't have an ead10 unfortunately. I think physical triggers will work better. This was more or less a proof of concept to see how it would work. It turned out pretty good but physical triggers are a better choice.

They are pretty fun, especially if you have some triggers to add

Great video! I'm glad this video popped up. I was already subscribed because of some of tutorial videos but I've actually been considering getting RTOMs and L80s (or something similar) for the kit in my apartment. Although I could continue playing loud at reasonable hours and hope it doesn't disturb anyone, I'd prefer to have more windows of opportunity to play, so considered either getting an electric kit or converting my acoustic kit to a quiet one. Because I'm also interested in getting into recording my own music again and possibly doing some recording sessions for others, I was wondering of the best way to do this as a quiet kit as opposed to swapping back to regular heads and cymbals, which is at least easier to do with RTOMs. Most videos I found mentioned triggers but I already have a set of drum mics as I've actually managed to record the kit a bit in previous apartments. One needs fixing, one cable needs fixing and I could do with a couple of overheads (I'm missing a tom mic too but not sure how important that is for now.) I've even already downloaded the Steven Slate free version and have been following some videos to input MIDI drums on Reaper. So maybe I can get a new multichannel audio interface (my old one is no longer compatible with the computer I'm now using) and just hook the mics up through Steven Slate/Reaper? Seems to sound cool how you're doing it. However, can it also work with LV cymbals through just 2 overheads?

Thanks for the comment. To trigger this way, each drum needs its own mic. You will get MUCH better results with physical triggers but I was showing it can be done. It really depends on the style you play and speed. If you play alot of fills etc or fast, you might spend alot of time manually gating tracks for example if you need to set the trigger software too sensitive. If you are playing more beats ans slower fills, this worked pretty good. I really had to put some volume into the ghost notes too. These heads with physical triggers would be amazing, I just don't have any snare/tom triggers. For apartment playing you would want to remove the bottom heads as they still have some volume to them. Id love a set of lv cymbals but don't know your living situation. In my mind those seem loud for an apartment lol. Both sabin and Zildjian make a good set. I like that Zildjian can have theirs electric, while Sabian are just lower volume. I only used 2 overheads in this video for cymbals, lv cymbals still make a decent amount of noise. If your are looking to play late at night id say get some used ekit cymbals and some triggers for these and use with no bottom heads or an ekit. The main point of these LV heads is lower volume. Not silent. Same with LV cymbals. Ekits are almost silent but still can be annoying in apartments from the vibrations so just be careful, wouldn't want you to get evicted :).

Are the heads one-ply, two-ply? If they are a thicker single ply, is that considered the equivalent to a two-ply?

Not sure off thr top of my head. I think they are thicker one ply. They are quite durable.

Nice! Would these be quieter than black holes?

Tough to say as I don't own the black holes. If you have a dedicated kit you want mesh heads on I'd recommend it, but if you take them off and on a lot, the black holes are more convenient. If you want to add triggers and make an E-kit, i'd use these
