Lava has earth substances, just like metal. The only thing firebenders can do is absorb the heat from it, just like Sozin did while helping Roku before he got betrayed. Rob was right all along, he just didn't explain like he was supposed to. This argument could've been avoided otherwise.

Facts

Whats crazy is they didn't realize this is about different states of matter. Fire is a plasma, hence why they could bend lighting. Earth is a solid, hence why they can bend magma. Water is a liquid hence why they can bend even blood. Wind is a gas.

It's actually a loss of pressure that allows magma to form. It's harder for heat to be conducted in states of high pressure, thus as magma rises through the mantle and depressurizes it heats up; the incorporation of water can decrease viscosity increasing rate of flow!

Thing is lava does have water in it. And the way Pat & Rob explaining it. Water benders should be able to lava bend too

@Iteswhatetis I think it's hard to justify it to anything because it's hard to reason. Like why are water benders allowed to change the state of water? Is earth changing to lava a state change or an actual form change? What would lightning be? There's just too many questions that could lean the answer either way to be honest, so I just roll with whatever the creators go with. I think it's just too perspective based of a question to nail on the head exactly

@@creativeartivity Each form, except Air, had shown a second level. Water benders can bend blood, Fire benders can bend lightning, Earth benders can bend metal and/or lava.

@@JRY17 Yeah I'm aware of that, but what I'm trying to say is that some of their second levels are a bit harder to apply a blanket rule over them to justify. For example, a person could ask what lightning has to do with fire. The answer to that question may be different than the relation of water to ice. And the relation of water and ice may be different from the relation to earth and lava. Basically my point is that because bending is rather arbitrary, it's very hard to say whether lavabending should be earthbending or firebending. My point is that it's just the easiest to go with what the creators say, which is earthbending. Sorry if I worded this kinda bad did not really proofread it

Lava is flowing magma; Magma is created when Rocks undergo extreme pressure and melt creating Magma. Lava bending is no different from Metal bending in that case since at their core it’s manipulating earth just in a different way

I remember this argument 😂😂😂😂 I cannot with them. Wellz took a big L that day. It's been a long time since I saw either Avatar series, but if I remember correctly isn't there rock in the lava? Cause I definitely remember Bolin turning a wave of lava into solid rock at one point 🤔 I feel like that was the answer to this debate 😂😂😂

What about when Avatar Roku used lava bending to destroy his own temple ? Was that earth or fire bending ?

It's even more basic than that. Waterbenders can manipulate the temperature of liquid water to the point that it changes state and becomes ice and can still manipulate it. It's not a stretch to believe that Earthbenders can do the same thing by heating rock until it changes state into a flowing liquid.

Nah they weren't saying that, they were saying lava comes from the core of the earth that's why it's earthbending, it's just earth bending because it's molten rocks.

No lava is just actually earth. Like if you get some rocks and heat it it becomes lava.
