What I found interesting in this side by side comparison though was the CPU usage. Nvidia uses more CPU despite pumping up less frames than AMD.
@paul1979uk2000
@paul1979uk2000 Год назад
What's interesting about that is that it used to be the other way around, with Nvidia gpu's using less cpu cycles, but AMD gpu's have come a long way on the driver front. Still, it's surprising to see the 6700 not hitting the cpu as hard whiles getting better performance over the Nvidia gpu, which could matter to many gamers that are on a budget. It also helps that it's 12GB of vram, which we are already borderline on the vram front that 8GB is likely not going to be enough with near future games whereas 12GB is likely going to be fine at 1080p and 1440p.

Due to power constraints, the 3060ti lowers its clock speed in certain games, such as Cyberpunk, where the 3060ti's clock speed can drop to 1830 MHz, while the 6700xt maintains its clock speed at 2600 MHz without issue. For those who have a 3060ti, I would recommend increasing the clock speed by 130-150 if you want more performance (even if your 3060ti only has a single 8-pin cable). Generally, it should work without any problems, depending on the luck of the silicon.

I just did a build for my friend. Best thing is to undervolt the card at the highest clock and lowest voltage possible, with additional memory boost that makes the card perform better. I managed to do 1905mhz @ 0.912mV with +700 memory, rock stable and temps went from 70c in-game down to 61c absolute maximum, with a nice performance boost. It's a card from Gainward, 3060 Ti Ghost to be exact. Stock card jumped between 1830 and 1880mhz, now it hits solid 1905mhz and stays there while being cooler and quieter. I will always recommend undervolting, playing around with the clock, you can get better performance with lower temperatures most of the times.

You don't get to have ALL the eye candy, or RTX on without *needing* copious amounts of DLSS, with a mid range card for very long. That's why mid range only used to cost £250-£300. Of course - those prices are fucking GHOSTS of the past now, but getting 1080p for a good few years at max settings with framerates north of your refresh rate, isn't anything bad. The real kicker is, however - not only was the 6700XT the option you should have taken *then* but in a year or so, the gap will be even wider. And then wider. And then wider. Etc. Still, don't worry. You can make the same exact mistake with the 5060ti, I'm sure. 85% of people do, after all!

Pro tip for Hogwarts Legacy and RE games both of these games use its texture settings for texture VRAM allocation. In Hogwarts Legacy you shouldnt notice difference in high vs ultra or even medium vs ultra medium and high allocates enough memory to textures to prevent pop in and to textures be displayed in full glory. This same situation is in RE games setting textures to +3gb should be enough to display textures without any pop in or lower resolution. Higher settings pre-load more textures to VRAM when they are not needed and loads them in full resolution all time even textures that are far away from player to notice lower res. btw i guess price difference between 3060ti and 6700xt dont exist last time i check 3060ti was for 2.4k pln while 6700xt was for 2.2k pln or vice versa in some stores.

AMD has a VRAM advantage, while Nvidia has a ray tracing/DLSS advantage. At this price and performance tier, the VRAM advantage is unquestionably more important. These are both 1440p cards, and there's definitely games where 8GB of VRAM becomes a 1440p bottleneck (Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space Remake, Far Cry 6, etc). The 3060 Ti may have acceptable ray tracing performance in some games, but those are the exception to the rule. I'd undoubtly pick the 6700 XT. EDIT: Wow, I thought they were around the same price when I commented. The 15% lower price of the 6700 XT really shows how far ahead AMD is, at least on these last gen cards.

@@andrej7840 as long as they have 2 fans you cant really go wrong with the coolers, including Palit. That being said, The 6700xt is generally the better performing card in traditional rendering, but falls quite far behind when you factor in any RT or that DLSS typically looks better than FSR (not always but it is generally agreed upon amongst reviewers). Keep in mind the Palit cards are also clocked quite low. Definitely wouldnt spend the extra on a 3060ti unless you found one that clocks to at least 1800mhz on sale AND you plan to use nvidia broadcast. I cant use discord or stream to twitch without it because of how awesome it has been for me. DLSS and RT are hit and miss. Looks great in cyberpunk and the Witcher, not so much in Hogwarts. As far as worrying about the Vram, the RE4 remake had issues at launch on 8gb cards at 1440p which has since been resolved. There just really arent many games outside of extreme cases that are going to saturate that 8gb buffer on a 3060ti at or below 1440p. For the most part, if they do, they are currently broken, see Digital Foundry's review on The last of us. Closing thought here, In canada, Nvidia typically is priced a little more favorably than AMD purely due to availability (lot more Nvidia cards on the shelf). Neither are bad cards although it does seem odd to look into buying that tier of card right before the launches of AMD and Nvidias mid-lower end series.

I have a 6600XT and it's honestly quite close to the RTX3060 when running RT in a lot of instances (3DMark hardware agnostic RT Benchmark show us a difference of ~4800 points on 6600XT vs ~5300 points on the RTX3060). and It's objectively way ahead of the 3050Ti (which get ~3600 points). Once RT features are primarily optimized for consoles, I think it will further reduce the gap between the companies in this generation. I just wish more people would consider AMD an option. For me AMD GPUs just made A LOT of sense to purchase, ESPECIALLY during the GPU crisis. But honestly, there's no right or wrong, price and your priorities should always be the focus... Guys, when the voltage is reduced to even 1.025V and the chip frequency to 2333 MHz - it consumes 70W (!?) and is 30% stronger than the card I had RX 6600 (or you RTX 3060). It is the same (at worst) as the RTX 3060Ti and consumes 70% less electricity. I play Horizon Zero Down without any problems at max and consume only 70W (for that I don't need a single 8-pinac out of the 2 I have) and the temperature (hot spot) is not over 60 degrees. Only for Quake 2 RTX at max you have to set another profile (it should go to 140W) but it's + that you can have a different profile for that game (the driver changes it automatically, you don't have to touch anything when you set it up) and everything is stable again. I am very happy with the AMD card, this is a fantasy.

thing about that vram limit hitting, can be fixed by competent developers by the engine, to an extent, with smarter priority over texture streaming etc

Particulatly in this case, I was considering a 6700xt, watched a few release reviews and hesitated, but like you mention in the beginning so much changes with drivers, newer games, and price reductions. Planning on grabbing one today, seems like the best valie option!

Be aware of AMD if you're primarily an indie/older game player. You'll run into endless performance, compatibility, and driver issues if you step off the beaten path. I'd say 6700 XT if you only play the newest AAA games and can take advantage of the extra vram, and 3060 Ti if you're more into indie and older titles where guaranteed compatibility is a must.

I really like the 6700xt's price to performance compared to 3060ti. The only issue I have is it's hard to find a white color one. Unlike the 3060ti, there's a couple of options. Building a white build would be so much better with a white GPU.

Hi mate, I'm actually a 3D student so I am able to use an Autodesk licence, in maya and 3dsmax AMD GPUs don't have any issue but soon enough I'll have to use blender (because it's free and awesome), I wanted to know when does AMD GPUs struggle ? In modeling viewport I don't see any issue but maybe in rendering ?
@nikoladoes3d
@nikoladoes3d Год назад
@@marcocelauro6967 It comes down to Amd gpus not being able to use CUDA acceleration in render viewport or when rendering in general using Cycles engine. That left you with options of using your CPU for rendering which is dozens of times less efficient , or using alternatives like pro renderer which can give you similar results to cycles but the workflow can be totally different without many tutorials or useful links on how to use it...
