the ray tracing in witcher 3 is completely broken lol. not only are the shadows and AO extremely bugged, but the performance is also incredibly bad and unoptimized. cyberpunk with RT literally runs better than witcher 3

@@_Pajek_ because the implementation was horrendous lol. if anything, a game from 2015 should vastly outperform a 2020 game if the ray tracing was correctly implemented, but it was so unoptimized to the point where it runs worse than modern titles with the same lighting technology (and even better/more demanding non-lighting ones)

@@pedroduran8927 in the patch notes they claim to have "improved" it, but the optimization and performance is still subpar. the only time they addressed the core utilization in the dx 12 was in patch 4.02, which barely made a difference. point is, ray tracing is still extremely broken in this game, not only performance wise but also in terms of bugs. especially ray traced shadows, which have massive pop-in and draw distance problems, and the GI which looks bleachy and has artifacting in certain areas.

works fine on my system when capped at 120fps. Pretty much stays locked in most areas except for downtown Boston and Far Harbor.

Most people don't install mods, the physics mod doesn't change performance and it makes the gameplay funnier and I can test more areas faster because of the speed. Also, Bethesda should be the ones fixing that, the fact that they released a next gen update and didn't even fix that issue is mind boggling, they're the lazy ones who don't acknowledge anything... The physics mod is now broken because of the update. I showed the full patch notes in this video.

How do You have over 48fps ? I have RTX 3060 and my game is caped at 48fps :/ I switched the build-in vsync to off changing all of the .ini files, but i still have only 48fps... before patch this worked perfectly.

Edit the prefs file. Search for ipresetinterval and change it to either 1 or 0. And in control panel you can cap fps I turned on triple buffering too

Don’t use it, causes crashes, instability and uses up a lot of storage space. You can barely notice a difference between normal textures and the “High Resolution” textures either.

There is a simple tool called bethini which can greatly improve the games look and draw distance and scene complexity by editing the ini file and pushing well past the games ultra settings. There is also a mod that will unlock the framerate and fix the physics. There are even graphical overhaul mods which are effectively 'next gen'. However nothing to cure the performance woes if you don't have a good pc.

The update was meant for the latest consoles. This game has been stuck at like 1080p medium/low settings since the game launched on consoles in 2015, with the only benefit it's seen being the "FPS boost" on the xbox series consoles. Now the game runs at 4K ultra settings at 40 fps (quality mode) or 1440p ultra at 60fps on an xbox series X. It's a welcome update, although it's not really a next gen overhaul

I deactivated all my mods and went thru that whole damn intro in vanilla, just to find out my fps was just as bad as before without all the performance fixes.... Well now i'm gonna check each of them and see if they say they work with the update... On the bright side, little changes means few broken mods hopefully. I guess at least i need one less mod now for my 21:9 monitor ha.

for anyone wanting to fix the very very slow loading screens and you for some reason haven't yet, you can use the >load accelerator< mod. just drop the unzipped mod files into the fallout exe folder, in the nvidia settings set vsync to use 3d settings and now the load times will be a few seconds instead of minutes. use an overlay such as msi after burner and you will see the fps go up to 350 fps during load screens and revert back to 60 fps when in game.

On PS5 is 1440p at 60FPS better than performance mode since it’s 4K 60FPS but it’s dynamic 4K which uses upscaling 4K

This upgrade was for Consoles. It looks much better now and it has 40fps mode for 120hz TVs which looks so much better than before 30. And also performance mode 60fps. On console everything works perfectly, why on PC your character running like 70mph?

Yeah, I was expecting more from this "UpDatE", but now even High FPS Physics Fix mod is broken, so in order for game to work properly, I need to lock it to 60 fps, because the game itself automatically locks to 90 fps on my PC, but the physics are broken on 90 fps, so I had to decrease it myself, which is a pain, considering I play on 180hz monitor

Just lock it in at 62, and it works fine lol better than 60 I guess? Just gotta pray and hope some of the mod authors update them

1440p Ultra on a 4060 and getting like 80-90 fps for a 9 year old game is just f-ing crazy at this point

Just FYI, Bethesda did actually next gen update for consoles so the game can run native version of series x or PS5 game instead of the game version from previous gen. I have no clue why they did that for PC 😂
