You are doing something wrong. I have RTX 4060 and it works very well with FG at 1080p Very High + DLSS Quality. At me, VRAM reaches 7.4-7.5GB usage and DRAM 10-12GB without problems. You have very high DRAM usage.
He didn't test frame gen at 1080p with DLSS on. He tested frame gen at native 1080p. Turning on DLSS upscaling reduces VRAM usage which gives frame gen resources to work. That is why it works for you. @@mikymouse7525
It's nice to see someone point out the impact of frame gen from lack of VRAM. Frame gen in this game can also cause crashes if you push your VRAM too far.
My game crashed with 6GB on maxed out settings with DLAA and no FG. Having 8GB would be an absolute blast. Maybe you can adjust the NVCP to Prefer Sysmem Fallback. That's quite useful for me in this particular title. I was able to use Medium textures instead of Low with No Prefer Sysmem Fallback. Try it. 🤷♀
Thanks for the troubleshooting advice. However, I don't think we should be engaging is such acts when we're talking about brand new GPUs that are supposed to deliver good experience out of the box. If it was a bargain used GPU... that would've been a different story.🙂
Why didn't you try the FSR FG to see if it is useable with that much vram or not? Especially in the 4K ultra performance DLSS section since the vram usage dropped so drastically

There is 0 problem with 8 gb vram cause most of 8gb gpus are meant for 1080p. Only 2 exceptions the 3070 ti and 3070. But they can still do comfort 1440p gaming
Actually, according to some tests on YT, even at 1080p 8GB cards can run out of VRAM if you play long enough and use Very High textures. And of course Frame Gen is no go here, as it needs around 1GB on it's own. Unless you are willing to reduce textures quality down ro Medium. Nvidia did such a bad move eqiupping their 60 class card with just 8GB this gen. 10GB should have been a bare minimum for 4060. And all 4060 Ti's should have had 12GB.
@@mikymouse7525 Try to monitor RAM usage and PCI-E load. With 8GB cards PCI-E load is more intensive and RAM usage increases by quite a bit, indicating that a GPU lacks VRAM capacity. Thus performance decreases, frametime becomes inconsistent and there are quite frequent stutters. Kryzzp tested 4060 and once he enabled FG at 1080p/Very High/DLSS Q, the card immediately run out of VRAM. So he had lower texture quality down to High.
Love your videos. Testing my RTX 4060 at 1440p with your exact settings and in the same spot on the map. I get a tad higher FPS and a bit lower VRAM usage. They have put out some patches since this video though. My RTX 4060 is currently in my secondary system which is using a R5 5500GT CPU (Like 5600G with only 16MB L3 Cache), AM4 and DDR4 3200 RAM. Which is quite a bit weaker than your R5 7600x, AM5 DDR5 setup. But looks like for this graphics card, in this game this CPU is no bottleneck. My primary system has a R7 5700X3D and RX 7800 XT. Will compare that one to your 4070 super video. But I think I had similar results your 4070 super in ghost of tsushima at 1440p.

I'm not even sure how to make that happen. Some kind of downscaling technology? However, if you have extra GPU compute power to run your games at 4K then it makes more sense to actually use a 4K monitor instead of 1440p.
If only we could actually use frame generation on the RTX 4060 in the latest games😄 Having only 8GB of memory sucks. And gaming on the RTX 3060 kinda sucks as well.
@@theivadimdepends on what you are looking for. For us, the 4060 isn’t enough but for some people they might enjoy it a lot. This gpu is especially great laptops and small form factor PC’s. My friend has a 4060 laptop and he says he loves the performance on his computer. So to each’s own pretty much 🤷🏽♂️
@@theivadimif you drop textures to high dlss fg will work fine.Very high textures are not made for 8gb vram cards.Medium to high textures are fine with 8gb vram at 1080p.
what you have against 3060 bro ? this gpu is from february 2021! And idont think anyone should buy 3060 today but 4060 is just new garbage from june 29 -2023 with 8 vram nothing interesting at all
If you look at this game textures, one would think 4060 will crush this game at 1440p very high, this isn't like TLOU which is a remake for PS5, this game only add more details and higher resolution from it's ps4 version.

GPU is burning 83c and downclocks. You need to ramp up fans on whole system, even cpu is quite hot.. With 1080p screens you can use RSR and get great results with downscaling from 4k esc if you use it with dlss.. esc on big 1080p screens like 27...
You need to add actual vram usage to your monitor. Micro stutters are not always a vram issue, and looking at your graph it still hasn't pegged all 8gb because that reading is what is being requested and not necessarily used. I know 8gb limitations because my 8gb 4070 laptop simply chokes on Cyberpunk 1440p DLSS quality High settings with Psycho RT on. I will get random actual stutters and not frametime blips. Actual vram use in that case is 7.9gb. it says something like ~8.6gb under just the vram monitoring which is what the game is requesting.
It's pretty clear that it's a VRAM issue in this case. When memory is not loaded - the game works smooth. And once we load the memory stutters begin. I'll have a look if my monitoring software has that metric. Which software are you using to get it?
