Hello! In this video I teach you how to crochet this cute rubber ducky!
If you have any questions about a step or would like to recommend an idea for a future pattern (*I do not do existing characters*), please comment below! I will respond as soon as possible.
Skill level: This is an easy level pattern.
To follow the pattern successfully you will need to be able to single crochet, increase, decrease, slip stitch, make a magic circle, and work off of a chain.
Materials:
Medium weight yarn (yellow & orange)
Any size pink yarn (I used bulky)
4 mm crochet hook
14 mm safety eyes and backs
Tapestry needle
Common craft supplies (i.e. scissors, sewing pins, stuffing)
**You may sell items created using this pattern in limited quantity, while crediting Kress Krochet LLC as the designer. However, you may not redistribute/sell the pattern or video itself.
**Please do not write out the pattern in the comments! If you do, I will delete your comment.

For anyone else coming to look in the comments about how to do the bill and not understanding how to do it, i did a mc 6 for r1, r2 i followed the vid to get to 10 stitches and for the rest of the rows followed the video. Its not quite exactly the same but it worked for me. Im also using super bulky yarn so that could have been my issue with trying to do the bill? Either way still using a larger sized yarn, everything came out perfect! Thank you so much for this video!❤

I agree. Learn to read a pattern
@twistedknotz5485
@twistedknotz5485 2 месяца назад
Different people create different patterns. There is always some kind of difference other than what you are used to, and also, some people are VISUAL learners who struggle with patterns. I know enough at this point to figure out the pattern, but some people are going to want or need a clear visual demonstration as well. For those saying “learn to read patterns”, maybe chill out a bit and quit being snobs. Everyone is at different levels, and people come to VIDEOS for VISUAL demonstrations, not written instructions. It is nice that it is there, but don’t call something a tutorial if you are not actually explaining anything.

@@nath7557for real. I knew the stitches for years, but did not think I would ever be able to follow a pattern. I may actually try knitting again at some point. Maybe. And trying different patterns and translating them into something I can understand for future use, so that I no longer have to pull my hair out, makes me feel accomplished in ways that I cannot articulate 😂.

I don’t quite understand the increase intervals the way it’s written. EG. Round 6: 3sc, inc, x 6… am I increasing by 6 right at the start? For a specific shape, Am I increasing in regular intervals? Eg every 4th stitch? So it stays circular? It’s not specific enough for where to increase.
@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 5 месяцев назад
It depends on the row. I write out the stitches in the order you should do them. The shape that I am trying to achieve may not always be "circular." Thus, you will see some rows that do not have a simple increase pattern like (sc, inc) x 6 So, for your example, you would single crochet in the first 3 stitches, and for the next 6 stitches, you would increase in each stitch. Hope this helps! :)

I don’t understand on r2 for the body it says 6sc and then 3sc in the end to turn the stitch.would that be 3 sc into the 7th stitch?
@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 3 месяца назад
So when you have a chain, there are 3 loops per stitch: the front and back loops like you would normally have (these would look kind of like a braid), and then one on the opposite side of that (I'll call this the "c" loop for reference). So for R2, the instructions are to sc down the chain into the front and back loops (starting with the 2nd chain from the hook, you would use the 1st one as a turning stitch and tighten it) until you get to the last chain (aka the first one you made). Then you would sc 3 times into this same chain while also turning the project so you end up where the "c" loops are. The rest of the row is crocheted into these "c" loops. Hope this makes sense! :)
@samarneill6776
@samarneill6776 10 месяцев назад
To make the bill are you sc into every chain you made?
@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 10 месяцев назад
Good question! First, you need to tighten the last chain you made (you will not crochet into this one). If you look at your chain, you will see 3 different loops: 2 on top that are your normal front and back loops and 1 on the underside. Starting with the 2nd chain from your hook, you will sc once into the top 2 loops until you reach the 1st chain you made. In that chain, sc 3 to turn to the other side and then start crocheting into the loops on the underside of your chain. You should increase in your last loop. Hope this helps!

@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 10 месяцев назад
Thank you! I am happy you like it! And good question; an easy way to make it bigger would be to use a bigger yarn size in addition to a bigger hook. For example, if you used bulky sized yarn and a 9 mm hook, the duck would be approximately double the size of the one in the video. Hope this helps! :)

I’m late to the question, but you could also use 3 regular strands of yarn and a larger hook

Absolutely! Two strands may be easier to manage (as there are two ends to a skein of yarn), but you can do three if you want a bigger yarn weight than that! :)
@haileynicole3208
@haileynicole3208 28 дней назад
The way this is written is so weird. Round 12- 4sc, (2 sc, Dec) do you mean decrease two times?
@haileynicole3208
@haileynicole3208 28 дней назад
Now it’s even more wrong because it says 4sc at the end but that would leave 24 st not 20
@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 26 дней назад
Thanks for asking! I'm assuming this is round 12 of the head, so for that instruction, it is actually: 4 sc, (2 sc, dec) x 4, 4 sc [20]. For this, you would first sc in the first 4 stitches of the row. Then you would repeat the pattern of (2 sc, dec), 4 times. Lastly, sc into the final 4 stitches of the row. This should leave you with 20 stitches, as you would decrease 4 times in this row. Hope this helps! :)

@@KressKrochet the head attaching to the body. The "neck" seems to have a point so I was trying to decide if that goes to the back (tail side) or the chest.
@KressKrochet

Where you end crocheting is the back of the neck and should be pointing at the tail side of the body. If you look at the finished project, the front of the head is protruding a little bit over the neck (this is where you decreased), and the back of the head is more flat. Hope this helps!

@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 8 месяцев назад
Hello! I am assuming you are struggling with Round 1 & 2 of the bill, so here is a quick summary of it! When you chain 5, you will notice you have 3 loops per chain: the front and back loops like you would see normally when crocheting, and you have a third loop located behind them. For R2 (after you tighten your last chain as you will not be crocheting into it), you will be single crocheting through the front and back loops like normal until you reach the last chain. Then sc in the last chain three times while turning it around. Now, you will be crocheting into the third loops mentioned previously. The last stitch is an increase. I would also recommend watching my "Learn How to Crochet Series Part 1: Stitches," specifically the section on 'working around a chain' for additional instruction. You could also watch my Version 2 of this pattern ("The Gentle-duck") if you would like to see a better quality video tutorial for the bill. Hope this helps! :)

@@KressKrochet not saying for every step but for like where to put the eyes on or the wings. And when you used 2 stitch markers on n the same round why did you do that what were you marking
@KressKrochet
@KressKrochet 5 месяцев назад
For the eyes: You need to sew on the bill to the head first (between R8-12). Then insert your 14 mm safety eyes on either side of the bill (between R9-10), with 2 visible stitches between each eye and the bill. Also, as a tip, the front of the head is directly opposite where you finished crocheting (aka where the stitch marker would be). Timestamp: 08:20 to 9:47 For the wings: If you draw a line from where the outer edge of each eye is --> down to the body, this is where the rounded edge of each wing should be. For me, this was around R7 of the body. Other than that, make sure they line up and are centered vertically. Timestamp: 26:23 For where I put 2 stitch markers in the same round, would you be able to give me a timestamp? Hope this helps a little! :)
