big square stone tiles between the legs of the base or you can buy special weights for this kind of base that you can fill with water or sand. Or you can buy a separate base with a certain weight attached to it.
Update yes . You will need some type of weight which they do make specific ones like a square with cutouts to hold the umbrella down . With a decent breeze it will nock over .
The quality remains good from opening and closes perfectly fine after many of seasons . We did a diy $20 concrete planter box with cement to hold it down instead of paying $90-$150 for weights .
Appreciate this video very much! Living in Florida with ocean breezes, there will be times we will have to close it so we can lay it down completely. We put a concrete block on each side and small flower pots in those. It will have to be put in the garage during any hurricanes or storms from hurricanes that might be near at times.
What's the size of the screws you used to fix the base, I received similar umbrella without them, and I am struggling to get the right ones online, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Be very aware this umbrella is not to be open in any kind if wind . It does not lock in place and it blows all over the place like a kite. If your intentions are to get it set up and locked for constant shade this is not the umbrella for you
socalsilver I am wondering the same, I just got one a couple weeks ago and it’s blows around in the wind like crazy. Only time it can be used is when there’s no wind at all. Wondering if there’s a way it can be locked in place?
Zack R hey Zack. No way to keep it in place unless you fabricate something or return it for a completely different style. It does suck.. I’m like you, can only use when wind is minimum.
I actually got 4 square 16” concrete slabs to put as weights on top of the base cutouts. The slabs are very heavy and it keeps the umbrella very sturdy in light/moderate wind and also looks much better than keeping couple of sandbags on it.
socalsilver haha yeah I realized what you meant sorry. The umbrella does move quite a bit in the wind so can’t help there but as long as the base is strong you should be ok in light wind conditions
Hasn't anyone come up with a better idea for mounting these umbrellas down to get rid of these bases that take up so much room and is a tripping hazard.
