ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns as Queen of Country Reba McEntire claims her red chair alongside last season's champ, Niall Horan, and returning superstar coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon.
The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.
This season, the block returns to the Blind Auditions, and during Battles, each coach will have two steals to use. The Three-Way Knockouts are also back. This time, however, artists will select their own songs to perform.
Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

Smart girl. Mining the 70s is the best thing an up and coming country singer can do. Melody, rhythm, great lyrics, nostalgia. Youngsters will think she invented this new genre. Right when I believed we'd never see power house stars again here comes Ruby. She can't lose going forward with her rare modern day talent. WOW!

Ruby is fantastic!! For being so young, she has tremendous voice control and power! I love her style, her voice, she's the whole package overall :) What I love the most about her is that she is who she is and isn't afraid to go against the grain. Wonderful!

I love Ruby’s powerful voice and her yodel “breaks” are beautiful when they are not overused. This was not my favorite of her performances but she is one of my favorites singers this season. I would be thrilled if she won.

Her "yodel breaks", as you call them, are called "cries", and often, with a voice like Ruby's, come naturally---BUT, they can be "made", and I agree, can be overdone.

Basically agree. I believe the opening was overdone mainly because Reba pushed the overuse of her wonderful yodel.

I agree. I have been telling everyone to watch Ruby Leigh because I have been so impressed by her. But overdone is a good way to describe her performance of Country Roads. But I sort of blame Reba for that. Reba wanted her to add those voice embellishments. I still hope America keeps pushing Ruby through because I’m still a fan. But I did not enjoy this performance.

I'm blown away by her poise, maturity, professionalism and of course raw talent. This is basically live. I know they tape the program, but can you imagine if she had more time to practice and then went in a studio with multiple takes and a bit of editing? It would be even more amazing. (And whose idea was it to put her on barn? A mountain or trees graphic might have been better).

Ruby is an exceptional talent and I hope she wins AND I hope she gets a great vocal coach, a sensitive manager, expert honest business manager, and a chance to grow. Someone should convince her now NOT to read any comments on YT or any social media, she'll just get hurt no matter what. She's SO good but SO young. She has a tendency to oversing a lot - which may be nerves, may be inexperience, may be just trying to show what she's got. A good vocal coach will help protect her voice and develop finesse. I wish her the very best.

Pure country! I would love to hear her sing Patsy's "Sweet Dreams", but in the style as Reba sang it during her encore at concerts decades ago. Reba gave us chills with her beautiful version. Ruby would do the same for sure.

Me and My Mom used to sing this song together when I would go visit her and even when I was still living at home my mom would pull out her guitar and we would sing Country Roads together..We loved John Denver..At her funeral they played this song..I cried my eyes out my sister and I hugged each other..My Mother would have loved it ❤ she was probably smiling from heaven ..

I’m so glad she sang a John Denver song. It was so fitting for her age and background. It was a nice twist to the song also. I still feel she has a bit of problem with the rhythm like she forgets to listen to the beat. Probably her age. It was very upbeat. I love her. She’s real.

At the beginning, she was just a wee bit flat on some of those notes. Once she got into it, she did better but to me the blind audition she was hitting every note right on key. Ruby is a freaking artist already. She puts a modern spin on country western songs and not many can do that. She has a great future ahead.

Ruby is the whole reason I started watching the voice for the first time ever, saw her yodel on tik tok and was hooked. She has my vote and I hope more than anything she wins. That acapella opening to this song, gives me chills every single time I hear it. Such poise and talent for such a young age, absolutely insane.

Her voice reminds me of the hillbilly music at the Grand Ole Opry back in the day. And that set reminded me of The Porter Wagoner Show. She isn't playing a part like it feels most young singers are doing to break on the music scene -- sounding like so-and-so so they can make it big. This is her life. Kerchief, studded shirt, and personalized guitar strap! Ruby Leigh is ready for touring and making music. She is stirring the waters of country music to bring a refreshing sound that sparkles adjacent to the turbid backwaters of country music today. Clean. Pure. Effortless. Genuine. Taking America back to its roots of that authentic country sound. Well done young lady!

That's what a lot of us have been saying for a long time. That basically we cannot differentiate one country artist from the next. So many of them sound the same these days and that's just sad. Ruby is original and that's refreshing. I know she's young and also doesn't just like country-western music, and that's totally ok. I have heard her play ALL kinds of genres and she can literally play and sing anything. It's just awesome to hear some roots music from someone so young. I hope she wins!!

Well said---all, y'all !!! I really want Ruby to get back to "old school" Country, or whatever you wanna call it. I think that's what made people fall in-love with her. I'm scared to death she's gonna blow it, though, cuz I'm not sure she gets why we love her---'course, she couldn't help havin' to song this song.
