I'm 2012, I hiked down Seitz Canyon by mistake (I was trying to come back down the Ruby Dome/Griswold Trail). Hardest hike I've ever done! I've watched all the BRT sections and loved every one!
Sounds like you got a great story out of it though! Did you go through the private ranch at the end of seitz canyon? Sure is hard to reach, but that's what keeps it so remote
@@SeekingLost It was getting dark when I got to the bottom of the canyon and my car was parked at the top of the trailhead for Griswold Lake, several miles away. So, I just slipped through and under all the fences along the base of the mountains to get back to my car! As a Native Nevadan, former hunter and retired biologist, all these incredible mountain ranges are places of the heart to me. I hope you keep going!
Not terribly bad, no. The worst bushwhacking stuff was in Seitz Canyon at the end, for sure. Trust me I wish we did camp at that lake! We had it in our minds to knock it out in a day though and didn't bring overnight gear (obviously). Camping at Echo Lake would be my suggestion too!
2:15 ‘Pizza Hut enema’ - Not familiar with that but I am with the subway enema - takes affect within an hour of consuming a subway containing their lettuce mixture.
Just as in the photo of the parking lot at the start of the trailhead, social media has done no favors to nature. The parking lot for this mountain range 3 years ago was 8-12 cars per day, and yes I know for a a fact. But thanks to folks like you the mountains are now cities of folk that just come and leave an extensive trace of their existence. At some point you need to think, is this a place that everyone, and social media is everyone, needs to know about. I am amazed at the lack of thought that goes into the placement of “look at me and like me” videos. And yes you did most likely displace the wild sheep and rams that make this there sliver of home. Please, just go, experience, and keep it personal. There are enough humans in the cities, we don’t need to give directions to the mountains.
