Never thought I'd see the day that elgin finally makes a Ruby guide.. I'm happy that people are finally realizing the true power of ruby even tho its almost 7 years late xD but im also afraid with this much popularity for her right now might result in an inevitable nerf for her soon.. its been harder for me to play her as more start to pick and ban her 😭at the very least i just hope they only nerf her dmg cuz thats what she was buffed with recently.. also ill hopefully be making my own updated ruby guide soon on my channel ;3

Moonton getting ready to nerf Ruby to the ground if not damage is nerfed-- I can't slay with Ruby anymore if she's getting banned and nerfed (hopefully it won't affect her that much) at the same time [she's mostly my second exp main in case Cici gets banned or picked T-T]
Fun fact: As of now, the mechanics of the Flicker is that "if you are holding the joystick and you use flicker, where you are dragging the joystick is where you will go regardless of where you are facing". You will notice this if you try to use flicker on khufra 1st skill while holding the joystick
That explained why I sometimes missed the skill 1 flicker chou combo. When was it implemented? Is there any settings that I could tweak to revert it back somehow
@@Badget007 but often i try to escape from enemy (Holding opposite direction) and also dragging the Flicker Button away from enemy, and i still Flicker right into them... Pretty annoying
The War axe adjustment really helps Ruby a lot. I've been using her in advanced server since I had an account.. I can't really use her in original server a lot 'cause I'm that one who adjusts when no one else does. HAHAHA I use Ruby as an EXP and/or Roamer
Ruby excels in going straight to the enemies. Just go hog wild and stun enemies and absorb the enemies damage and hope your team has enough braincells to engage once you go set the enemies. Ive had plenty of times where i set the enemy team and my team just ignores it and farms creeps instead
I just had this situation earlier. I played Ruby as a roamer/tank. Enemies are in their tower, and I am with our MM, Hanabi. I was expecting our MM to be of much attention 'cause she is just beside me, and I am planning to set via flicker ult and tanking the tower damage. I caught 3 of the enemies, and to my surprise, Hanabi didn't pay attention to my movement, so I ended up getting killed. I didn't provide any signal so it's my bad hahaha. I just hope our Mage was there that time, 'cause she is so attentive. But this really happens, and I can't really blame our MM especially when you're just playing solo.
@@MJS.. that's the worst part bro i face it daily people just don't take advantage of sets n stuns n i end up dying. After i got her aspirants i have spammed her 130 matches till now this season with an impressive winrate of 90% love her so much. After long time everyone is giving the attention he deserves

@@MJS.. You are alone with marksman against 3 enemies in their tower? If i was the marksman i will also not paying attention to 2vs3 fight in enemies tower. Except if im really fed or all the enemies are low. As a roamer, u should atleast know when u set up a teamfight, what are the odds of winning... A good war setup is when u can pull and win with the setup not bs tiktok freestyle. Of course in ur case idk if u made good decision or not since idk who ur fighting and many other factors
I think the best part of ruby is her skill 2, it almost have zero animation time to cast, her skill 2 will always be prioritize to land first before any enemy skill, really great to cancel enemies combo.
As a ruby main I suggest this build: Bloodlust axe, boots, war axe defense item (I usually get brute force breastplate for extra chasing potential or dominance ice for anti heal), hunter strike or malefic roar, life steal/defensive item
I used Ruby for the first time today since every hero is available to play. Ive run into her everywhere, casual, ranked. It doesn't matter and without fail, someone always uses her. and i have trouble with her being on the opposing team. And i get why people use her. She's very easy to use and a very clutch, strong hero. Her regenerative abilities are so awesome and i enjoyed using her. Definitely gonna buy her when I get enough gold. So thanks for the tips and guide, this wil come in handy
if i had enough gold id gift u her but i spent it on buying her so i only have 14k now shes honestly rlly fun to play but everyone seems to target me a lot early game
@@Lunniah it's literally all good, I had enough gold, I just ended up buying Hilda. Now that hero is one I don't regret picking over Ruby. Another clutch one
I literally tank more damage than our actual tank from time to time. And can literally dive Into a 3 v 1 and come out on top. I see my team mates just commenting about how much bullshit I give the enemy team when I do that XD
The key to high dmg is that u do a basic attack between each skill,dash and the next skill. In combo with endless battle u deal serious dmg. Also instead of Flicker i would use arrival skill. It is really powerfull in cases like 4 enemys attacking tower. U can use ultimate and pull them in to the tower and stun them with second skill. Its a gamechanger in lategame to save turrets and base . And the best, u dont have to walk all the way back after respawn. U can increase push pressure and push bottom and toplane wave at the same time.
yay! I was ruby main, if we are first pick we prioritize ruby as exp or core, ruby with healing allies like rafaela or estes makes her formidable in the battle. Ruby is a complete package of sustain damge hero with annoying CC
now I will never get to play ruby again, I've been noticing her getting banned this season and I main her ever since Season 4 or 3, I forgot when I started I got to see tank ruby, damage ruby, lifesteal ruby, spellvamp ruby and now she get more love because war axe and it is really great, I hope bloodlust axe get a revamp because it's kinda useless right now, maybe add an anti-anti-heal mechanic for it
One thing about the ultimate+flicker is that don't use flicker too quick, let her hook the enemies and time that accordingly, I've always made a mistake when i use this combo, sometimes i used it too quick
Surprised Elgin didn't cover the autoattack techs which actually adds an entire new layer of gameplay, especially considering that one of his recommended builds uses endless battle. In the early game in the right situations you can do S1-Auto-Hop-S2-Auto-Hop away. In fact you can even just win trades with S2 - Auto - (S1 + auto) - move if anyone wants to use an engage tool on you. This completely charges War Axe on its own making a waraxe rush a viable option rather than doing the recommended build here. With these tech you can also optionally go for non 40% cooldown builds if building tankier since you aren't entirely reliant on your skills for damage (although its still ideal to get as high of a CDR as you can) You can also mix up the delayed s2 on the pull combos by doing Ult - (auto) - S1 - (auto) - S2 if you have other CC options. All actions in brackets are optional.
ruby is a very flexible hero with a lot of different build options and playstyle depending on team & enemy comp. she's a very well balanced hero who will always have a place no matter the meta. I'm a ruby main with 1100+ match with her. she's just so fun to play
take my advice as an ex global ruby player, if you want the most comprehensive guide on ruby, go watch ikanji's videos. The builds are very different from what you'd see in the top few global builds, but from my 500+ matches and 75% wr with ruby in this season, I can testify that it is the current best build.
I have a question though. I'm assuming you're talking about ikanji's Ruby build. Why Sea Halberd on Ruby? What is it for? How does Ruby benefit from it? Is it situational or one of the best items Ruby can use? What is your answer to this?
@@freedelahoyathesuperzblade5743 1. sea halberd helps in lane as people do play high sustain heros such as yuzhong or thamuz against ruby. Buying sea halberd reduces their heal whilst giving you more burst damage. 2. If you're solo queing, sea halberd is a must have items as random tanks below Mythical glory usually buy dominance ice very late into the game / don't buy at all. Buying sea halberd reduces the enemies heal and increases your damage, allowing you to stay in the frontlines longer and push your enemies back 3. Traditionally people build Dominance Ice as an Antiheal item on ruby. This worked because ruby used to be focous on high sustain and defense in the past. Now the meta for ruby is shifting towards damage and burst whilst maintaining high levels of sustain. Sea halberd fits this criteria 4. When you play xp laners, you have to go solo to clear / cut lanes most of the times, in which late game will be tricky as you will encounter the enemy mm in a 1v1 when you clear lanes. Sea halbert reduces the enemy mm's heals, allowing you to burst them down easily. 5. Sea Halberd is different from dominance ice. both are anti heal items, but sea halberd is triggered when you attack the enemy. If you combined this together with ruby's long range skill 1 , you basically get a ranged dominance ice, which is very useful for poking and zoning out enemies.

Another tip for ruby is to dance around your enemy be nimble, her passive made her very flexible. Prey on your enemy, and when they least expect strike them hard, real hard because as of now ruby's dmg is insane if you build her right.
as a ruby main i would like to say go full damage doesnt matter what role u are. But also provide enough utility to ur team. dont forget to chase those low hp runners
Before in the game, true damage from Endless Battle and Scythe (I think) was also considered a spell vamp and they said "corrected" it. May this have been happening again?
Crazy how she's not being utilized much in the past. lol the new war axe and brute force really did a good job for her, Kinda nuts how she has low/mediocore seasons ago, and now her popularity and pick rate sky rocket in ranked matches. What did i miss? What made her popular hmm? But i hope nerf-toon dont lay their hands on her, might try her out soon. 🧐
Aside from war axe and brute force adjustment, 10 ban system made it mandatory to ban diggie every single game. Now ruby shines more since she won't be hard countered
Damage scaling buffs + diggie not being open. If diggie is open, your opponent counters at least 2 heroes(tank+fighter)and that's enough to lose every teamfight
War axe is borderline broken as it is, but Ruby with her low cd bullshit just brings it over the top into OP territory. Everything that waraxe gives (lifesteal, cd and true damage) synergizes with ruby in a way that no other hero in the game can, if we're excluding Cici.
I'm actually surprised with Ruby appearing more often, but I guess it's a given with War Axe buff. Though, as a Ruby main myself, I didn't use DPS focused Ruby. I only use Bloodlust for extra spellvamp and def items for the rest. Her DPS without any damage items is actually decent, especially with her first skill.
I usually just go bloodlust and hunter strike then defensive items for the remaining slots. Dominance is a choice pick of mine if I see enemies like Miya, Sun and Karrie. Or else brute force breastplate then oracle
Yep, tanky build doesnt work for me since im aggressive and just go ult enemies whenever i have the chance to either lower their health, or kill them with the help of my team. You can 1v1 almost anyone or just stall and kite them since shes a jack of all trades with high def, high regen, high dmg, good mobility and really good cc.
I love this skin. I tried to get her Aspirant but as MOONTON LUCK would go, I got Angela Aspirant instead, 5 minutes after obtaining Angela's Annual Starlight skin 😬😤🤬😒 However, I got Lady Zombie (which I prefer over her Aspirant, I think 🤷, but the latter has GREAT FX if your phone can handle it 👍) for free on the very next event 😁
I prefer doing full damage ruby if im owning my lane if not just use standard build no need to build bloodlust axe anymore i also prefer petrify more if im exp rather than flicker and is it just me or is the jiangshi or collector ult animation seems a little small the aspirant or starlight ones has me better at catching enemies than these two skins
I posted this on another video, but I think it's appropriate to post it here too Ruby main here, practice your backwards and forwards flicker hook. It's her bread & butter while also being her only skill shot. Here's a tip, the timing to execute her flicker hook is a little tricky. Her forward flicker hook has no pause while her backwards flicker hook has a slight pause before you hit flicker. Furthermore, she has a small window to dash after each skill cast, so that means you can squeeze in an extra basic attack before dashing away, i.e: 2-BA-DASH-BA Depending on the situation, it makes a huge difference between letting your enemy escape and securing a kill, so I suggest you to switch your joystick settings to fixed position, that way you do not have to drag to move and just tap the direction to want to dash to, it's quicker, the window to dash is small after all. The amount of heal you can do isn't solely based on your spell vamp stat but also the damage you can dish out so in certain situations you can opt for more atk stat instead. (Which is why you heal more with skill 1&3 even though all 3 skills provide 125% spell vamp) Lastly, the amount of HP you heal is based on TOTAL damage dealt to ALL enemies, so during fights, it's better not to be so eager in clearing minions. @@johntan1890 it's redundant since war axe is a better version of bloodlust axe. It's better to build another item like endless battle which gives better stats and has a great passive.
I hate how much attention my Baby has been getting. The recent passive nerf was solely caused by waraxe. She only becomes meta because of waraxe yet shes the one getting the nerf. Also on the hook engage combo usually I think 3 2 1 is better since thats your chain. Her first has a slow so using that last feels smarter :o

I got real physical pain by not seeing elgin telling the pretty important fact that you can add hits between your skills, and use the skills to cut the animation of the hits, functionally this gives almost 50% more damage to any combo you do, and doubles the dmg if you have thunder and endless. And that second skill also acts as a pull, even if its hard to notice, so it can get fanny off her cables (best fanny counter imo) and she can cut almost every movement skill (even khufra jump omg! ruby counter khufra??!?WTF, yeah with enough hands she does)
As ruby main i tell you guys don't use 1st skill and 2nd skill at once you will die Dear elign i am disappointed your combo greatly So the combo is Skill 1 - move near- ult- fliker- then use basic attck (don't worry they will stun o.5sec) then use skill 2- skill 1 agin If u don't have ult or minions pls don't use skill 1&2 at once its suicide
That's why you go for cd reduction I build my ruby to be able to one combo mages marksman and fighters except tanks while having 40% cd reduction and just bully meta fighters like lapu lapu dyroth even thamuz although only when thamuz builds tank items so my priority is not to "survive" but kill the enemy since ruby can one combo all except tanks(at least with my build) Full penetration emblem with lethal ignition Cd reduction boots Bloodlust axe Hunter strike War axe Malefic lore Blade of heptasis At late game you can exchange the boots for endless battle but if the enemy has anti heal exchange it for oracle
