I think it’s probably because she seems to have incredibly high standards, and we just leap over them to baffle her into complementing us. It’s not a nice gesture, it’s a scientific statement of our appearance

@@jostockton. 1) If you think being a seamstress isn't an art form then you are misinformed. There is more then one way to make art. 2) I'm an artist and I'm not superior to anyone. I'm just a person. 3) When you say someone is superior to someone else you are saying that other people are less than and it makes you sound like a jerk. 4) You can put as many red hearts next to your comment as you want but you still sound rude. Actually, I'd say it makes you sound passive aggressive.

This is a really funny and unique way of pulling off the "Rude Character Being Rude at You" idea. It's like she's so in awe that she's pissed, and it creates a really funny/endearing mix of feelings.

Haha thank you both, I admit (for me) the tailor is Myrtle and the artist is Constance :D However Myrtle and the turtleneck almost wins me over. I picture them greeting each other with a quick kiss on the cheek as "Connie" and "Mertie"

I think the way that not only the Tailor expresses the tones and fabrics that we can pull off ( which is to say all ) is striking, but what catches my attention as well is how she keeps coming back to how we would be able to have a looser option, which does feel like she genuinely is taken aback at how she potentially has more freedom with us than with a typical client.
