I made a translation into English: A farmer named Mike without a vow took care of the crops, the bull and the GRANDMA who told him: "What lacks in your life, is one reliable TILLER." He saw at the folkdance with eyes full of lust a girl with an exceptional HAIRDO. They didn't dance close and the reason was this: He smelled of manure, and she smelled of... Goethe was great, man he sure could rhyme. Whenever I try I sweat blood till it's late, And each time I realize that Goethe was great. She came from the city, she was a fine lass, He liked in particular her big and round EYES, He also liked what she promised that day, And he was quite certain she'd be a great COOK. And though he knew what every man knows, when it comes down to it, marriage IS GREAT, And she had that specific complex: All men want one thing, and that would be... Goethe was great, man he sure could rhyme. Whenever I try I sweat blood till it's late, And each time I realize that Goethe was great. He told her his name and said: "I am not Cupid. and though I may look it, I'm not really SMART, am farmer to whom a wife would be bliss". In response to this, she gave him a COFFEE, which was weak but love's blind and wild, He took her to bed, and she got a COLD. Therefore he proposed without any fear, Henceforth children kept coming, at least one every... Goethe was great, man he sure could rhyme. Whenever I try I sweat blood till it's late, And each time I realize that Goethe was great.
James, the original version is from Dinah Shore "Sweet Violets" (1951),arranged by Cy Coben and Charles Grean : www.dailymotion.com/video/xvfapq_dinah-shore-sweet-violets-the-unforgettables_music in German also with "censored "rhyme :)
