From the fourth canto of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, chapter 24, this is a song that Lord Śiva sang
to please the Supreme Lord and
later, he taught to the Pracetās. In this song, Lord Śiva says:
‟Although rendering devotional service to the Supreme Lord Hari
and worshiping Him are very difficult, if one vibrates or simply
reads this stotra [prayer] composed and sung by me, he will
very easily be able to invoke Lord Hari’s mercy.”
"The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the dearmost objective of
all auspicious benedictions. A human being who sings this song sung
by me can please the Supreme Lord. Such a devotee, being fixed
in the Lord’s devotional service, can acquire whatever he desires
from the Supreme Lord.“
‟A devotee who rises early in the morning and with
folded hands chants these prayers sung by Lord Śiva,
and gives facility to others to hear them, certainly
becomes free from all bondage to fruitive activities.“

of Śrī Gopīśvara Mahādeva
on Mahā Śiva-rātri, we are presenting here these prayers so devotees
who want to sing these powerful prayers and
take advantage of this gift of Lord Śiva can do so
