Former striker Rudy Gestede has returned to Blackburn Rovers as our new Head of Football Operations. He sat with RoversTV for an extended interview.
Rudy scored 35 goals in 72 appearances for Rovers between November 2013 and July 2015, forming a formidable strike partnership with Jordan Rhodes, prior to playing Premier League football with Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.
As well as having a distinguished playing career to his name, which includes spells in six different countries, the former Benin international boasts an impressive global business background and will bring a modern and progressive approach to the new role.
The 35-year-old will work closely alongside Rovers’ Chief Executive Steve Waggott, head coach John Eustace and the returning Head of Recruitment John Park in a move to expand and enhance the football operation at the club.
Welcome back, Rudy!

I suggest we give the guy a chance and get behind the club. Could be just what Rovers need with a new vision and direction to propel the club. Given what a great player he was for us, he may surprise us in his new role.

Would any former footballer, with similar levels of inexperience, who didn't happen to play for us, be considered acceptable for this role? Stinks of another Waggott cheap option with zero regard to improving our rotting carcass of a club.

Is this a joke? Zero prior experience in the role, so yeah come and have a crack at it Rudy, what could possibly go wrong.
