Dog bless the algorithm, I really needed this, I was wondering what life was all about, I’ve been delivering groceries and ice and snow in Denver. It’s been tragically Awesome and Awesome a tragic has anyone ever red Snow Crash 📖?
A few years ago I did 2 day's work experience at evo and spent most of the time with Jethro. He's an absolute legend. Really sound bloke, complete petrolhead and I hope he continues to make videos like this.
Alois Is such a sweet man and as a car enthusiast I can feel his passion when he speaks! makes me feel like a kid again..Ruf has a couple other movies that I suggest you watch. Danke :)
How can it be a ripoff if it's "better"? Of course it's subjective if you think it's better or not. But what it really is and has always been is a Porsche on steroids.
I had the honor of riding in Steve Beddor's CTR2 as a child. Amazing car. My father was the specialst mechanic for the RUF racing teams, for many races including the VC hill climbs where the car set the world record. Wish I wouldve been old enough to remember riding in that car. Truly an amazing peice of machinery.
Phew, was a bit nervous of touching the iconic Yellowbird. How do you do this car justice? We tried. Probably failed but had a pretty good couple of days in the process!
Well done Jethro! You are now one of my favourite presenters! I envy you for getting to drive the Yellowbird, which is one of my most favourite 911 ever! Good job!
I had the Car and Driver original magazine in 1987. I asked my mother to buy it for me......I dreamt about this car for years......wow, talk about throw back! What a beast!
Beautiful presentation. I am a 911 fan too since birth. I Love Porsche and Ruf, Keep up the good work and what a privilege it must've been to meet Alois. I got goosebumps within the first 30 seconds of the video and finally I'm glad your hero didn't disappoint you. I currently own a 2008 BMW 335i M Sport and MB E55 AMG 2001. My hero is the 993 turbo and I plan to take ownership of it next year, my lifetime dream. I hope I don't become disappointed in meeting my hero next year. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for sharing this inside look into my favorite manufacturer and Automotive hero, Alois Ruf. I own an RT12 and it is the best car I've owned and one of the few cars in my stable that I plan to keep forever. It's hard to describe the feeling of a Ruf versus a Porsche as it is a truly unique experience. Great job!!
Jethro is really becoming one of the top reviewers, getting Chris Harris driving ability an very informative . He needs more videos keep up the great work J B
Brilliant video....Was 17 when the Yellowbird came out and like most it has always been the greatest Super car in the world to me! Once again its nice to see a great video..
This was very special. Jethro is a great journalist and I'm glad to see him contribute to an American magazine. Please continue to do videos like these, thank you!
First time ever watching a CAR and DRIVER video and i have to say, fantastic work!!,great cinematography, excellent narration throughout, love the choice of soundtrack at the end, Looking forward to seeing more videos like this!!!
Thank you Jethro, you best review so far. The very first car magazine I read was the Top Speed special from "Le Moniteur Automobile" writen by Paul Frère. So thank you to bring back that memories. 342km/h in '87 was amazing.
Nicely done Jethro and i am envious! Both beautiful cars, i have an 87 911 that i am adding RUF body parts and wheels to - just need to save up for the motor ;)
Amazing car company, amazing car. Great video CarandDriver I would love to see more like this. And please more reviews from that guy, great job from him as well. I really wish that Ruf was available in the States, it would be amazing to see those vehicles here
That Yellowbird is the true definition of a "drivers car", that 'Ring video of it with the insane driver behind the wheel was what had me interested in the track and of course the car hah. I can't believe RU-vid unsubbed me from this channel. Great work
I am 47 and have been reading C/D since the glory days of '72.... and the Cannonball... nothing will ever replace those days or the RX-2 Lime Rock racers but this is a good start! As to the Yellow Bird I was one of the first people in the states to see that video and my friends and I would sit around sometimes after the bars closed and watch that thing with my stereo speakers cranked... that was such an epic video.... thanks for the update guys. PS: Remember the time you guys smoked pot :)
My dad used to own one of the 49 original one. Actually one of the 29 built from the ground by RUF. It was a beast. lol... I miss that car. I've driven newer cars that accelerate faster and will crush it around a track, but never have i driven a car that felt anything close to the CTR. It was so dramatic and somewhat scary. You really felt and heard it when changing gears, you heard the whistling of the bov. Man that was an exciting car to drive, and even more exciting when my old man drove it.
Nice, let's see more of these mini specials. Great visuals, the bloke seems know his stuff, what more do we need - can only have so much Chris Harris right!
U know what really does it for me when he first got in the car and closed the door...that sound was just so mechanical omg this thing is a beast...an era when cars where cars
awesome video! i agree with this being one of the best Car and Driver videos i ve seen yet. The only thing i could possibly complain about is that it was too short, i would have loved to hear more, more driving impressions, just more video! Great work, whoever came up with the Car and Driver abroad videos is definatly onto something, would love to see more. I still like reading my Car and Driver Magazine in print though, so please don't skimp on the print!
