I was thinking that I would use a lighter/candle to prevent that .. hope this helps.

If you buy more expensive satin ribbon, it will not fray. If you go with a cheaper ribbon, put nail polish on the very very edge....but you run the risk of your ribbon running when you sew it. Do yourself a favor, pay a bit more. 🙂
