His self awareness really saved his life. Like his mother said, Rufus was too ambitious and had too many plans for his own future to let his life be squandered with drugs. She knew he would find a way out of it and she was right. I just love his personality, he’s so wise.

Rufus: I think I chose good... *devlish laugh* Love you, Rufus. You were a big part of my life when I listened to you as a teen in Texas and as I grew up and saw you in SF, London and Berlin (three cities I am lucky to say I have lived in). And you’re aging so well. My son came out when he was 14. He’s 43 now. I’d known since he was about 4 so I was relieved when he was finally true to himself.

I have not been a huge fan. His talent is undeniable, but I haven’t loved his voice. I clicked on this interview to see whether his speaking voice sounded like his singing voice. this interview makes me really like him-even his voice.

I also see a lot of similarities between Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright when it comes to their music. Anyway, we lost both Buckley and Kurt Cobain too young. I wish we could hear how those men could have evolved in their music.
