This is a tough one. The betting odds would probably say that the Boks should take both matches; you have a team that won the Big One less than a year ago, versus a side that dropped out in the pool stages. AND you have a brand new coach versus one that's been there at coach/director level for more than six years. But this is Australia. In Australia. Our world cup triumph and their world cup humiliation might as well have taken place during the Stone Age and will have no bearing on the match. I feel that the Boks should be stronger, but I just have this nagging feeling that the Aussies are going to throw the kitchen sink at us. Beware the wounded animal. The Springboks have this uncanny knack to get complacent. Luckily for us, we lost that one game against Ireland and that usually gives our boys a kick up the rear. They would want to set the record straight again, so I don't think we are going to waltz in there with an aura. I hope this doesn't come across as being overconfident (and I hope I am not going to have to eat my words) but I expect us to beat Australia both fixtures - one by about one score (5 points or so) and the other one by about ten. Now don't let me down boys 🐐 EDIT: I commented before I watched the bit about the Olympics 😂 yeah, they have a bad track record of getting countries to build fancy stadiums, only to never be used again. That being said, there are so many sports that are 100% amateur, where the athletes are in it only for the love of their sport. And giving these people some recognition, I think, is really cool. The Nazis did introduce the torch relay to the modern Games. I think we can all agree, this is one of their nicer contributions to society.

@@Wildkard Eh I don't take offense. It's France, their French, they are kind of weird. What they did have at the opening ceremony was the metal band Gojira and they were LIT AF. I was thinking we were going to see a watered down version...nope! They went full tilt. It's nice to feel represented as a metal fan! As for having a good game against the Boks, I think you're going to have too. SA should have too much firepower on paper, but Schmidt is a wily old fox and he will have a few tricks up his sleeve. If I can summarise my thoughts: if Australia can be patient with Schmidt and not pressure him too much to deliver wins in his first year, come this time next year, they will be the favourites for this fixture.
As a Saffa im nervous, we dont have a good record over there. They are never a team to underestimate, they are still 2 time world cup winners, but that persona is lying dormant just under the surface waiting to come out again.
He plays great at club level but did he really do anything at international level last year that makes him a pick for this year. Big and physical yes but far to slow in my opinion. Watching him getting up from tackles to re join the line is painful to watch.
