After a disappointing first season back in international rugby, the Springboks were full of hope for the 1993 season. They had a new coach in Ian MacIntosh and a new captain in Francois Pienaar, who would go on to achieve great things.
The Boks kicked off the season with a two match series against France. The first test at Kings Park was a tough affair, with the Boks drawing the French 20 - 20.
