Brought to you from the very same Islands of Samoan Big Hitters (albeit American Samoa but they’re still Samoan nonetheless) like Junior Seau & Troy Polamalu 😄.Great informative commentary as always Sean 👍🏾👍🏾.
watch world cup 1991. Samoa verses one of the powerhouse then Wales. That really introduced Samoa to the world. watch some of their 7s game when they were good. from 1991 team some sadly for Samoa went on to have All Blacks career. Samoa were the first lesser team to become darlings of world cup, then in step Japan, maybe one day America. America has all the money like other big teams, so maybe one day America will rise.
Samoa and Tonga should be much better next year and years to come due to a new eligibility rule allowing players who played for one national team to switch to another if they were born in that country or their parents or grandparents were, and they mustn't have played for their original team in 3 years. This will see guys like Israel Folau and Charles Piutau playing for Tonga as well as a bunch of ex all blacks and wallabies playing for Samoa.
It's extremely hard to hope for those two nations to get better, as before the Rugby World Cup the team players aren't able to practice together until they're at the tournament. The individual players also have to pay for their own plane ticket, and often aren't able to sign their contract due to them not being covered by insurance if they play as the organisation does NOT offer this basic health cover to these great players.
@@sasrio_ The whites are the farmers, idiot. Whites in South Africa are not wrapped in cotton wool like the whites in NZ and have plenty of combat skills. They are big, strong boys as you will notice in our schools rugby. We are not a scared people and we donate stand back. Not in rugby or war. You should educate yourself before making such uninformed comments.
@@dantewalters5209 Mate, who hurt you? Stop crying over the land you tried to steal. LOL you keep telling yourself that, bub. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Islanders are the toughest customers on the planet... Every national rugby team in the world, other than pacific: 'we need to get some more islanders in this team'. 😉
When you are a weak defender, you tackle like the Samoans. Remember, tackling is the hard part of the game and doing it within the rules is even harder.
the 2011 samoan team was different.. they beat Australia, wales, italy and scottland that same year and coming close to beating South Africa where they lost 12 points to 16.
Should point out in this match, Australia was playing a 3rd choice line-up. Credit to Samoa though, they turned up to play. But the next time these teams met, Australia put 70 points on Samoa.
@@fangadanz5910 lol.... no it wasn't. 2011 was the year QLD Reds won Super Rugby. Only 2 Reds players were in that team, Genia & Ioane. The final had been played a week before that, and majority of the Reds players were being rested. No Horwill, no Slipper, no Finga'a twins, no Tapuai, & no Quade. From non Reds players who'd usually be in the team, there was no Hooper, no Lealiffano, and no Toomua. To cap it off the 10 & 12 were playing out of position for a regular Wallabies team. Don't let facts get in the way of a good story eh?
@@davecheffie5706 the next time they played most of these manu samoa players retired lol this samoan team was good, they also beat scottland and wales that same year and also comimg close to beat south africa where they lost 12 to 16.
