On the accuracy if you take a first Gen AR and first Gen mini the accuracy is the same ....but that being said 96% of people use a modern AR that is FAR more honed then the first Gen AR for a accuracy test...and in reality if you got in a gun fight it's not gonna be further than 200 yards ....the mini is accurate enough or more for that...and if Ruger put the money up they could make a mini that would take the AR for a ride .
only idiots complain about the safety. With your finger on the trigger and the safety on you cannot pull the trigger. Some people need to see wizard about a brain.
The AR is like a modern Toyota Camry, the Mini-14 is like an old V8 Mustang. They'll both get youbwhere you need to go and dollar for dollar the AR is the all around better deal but man the Mini-14 just has that solid old school feel and is always fun to shoot.
Bought a Choate synthetic stock. Not the rubbery one but smooth. The action is really snug in the stock. Love my 584 mini.👍🏻 good review. The Choate stock has a nice palm “swell”.
I had to figure out how the mags want to come out too cause I was shaving metal off the mag trying to rip it out. I find that just flipping the lever let's it fall free by itself very easily. In combat that would be fine but when you're just target practicing it means an odd fumble to hold it but not hold it too much to get it before it gets to the ground.
For me the ergos of the AR are the worst compared to any rifle. The straight back stock is only good for prone. Otherwise you have to turtle down on the stock, toe the stock or buy a high rise optic mount with a cheek riser.
I got a Ruger mini 14 1978 but then i got a M1 Garand then a AR 15 did not really like the AR15 back to mini 14 then back AR15 now now i came back in 2014 with a 2014 Ruger Mini 14 for good .
The mini 14 style safety is on 5.5 million m1s 6.5 million m 1 carbines 1.5 m 14s and well over 1 million each of mini 14/30s. and over 1 million m1as. No one hears about accidental firing
I'm a big fan of the Mini 14 too. I have owned them since the 80's. I own AR's and they are good, but I'll take a Mini any day! I run a Ultimak rail with a Holosun 503 with the circle dot reticle. That rifle hits what I aim at all day long! Great video!
0:09 Bill Ruger may have commissioned the design. But L. Jim Sullivan was actually the man who made the mini 14 from the M14. Sullivan also helped Eugene Stoner scale down the AR10 into the AR15.
YOU don't pay sales tax. The seller does. LAMO! A seller saying he isn't charging you sales tax is just scamming you because you don't understand the tax system.
Mini 14 is awesome and yeah u can get a psa for cheaper but will it be as reliable and as far as accuracy is concerned most people dnt practice enough to get sub moa and less stress test their accuracy so for me mini is great it’s low key reliable and can get the job done
Mags are 40 bucks. Compared to 90's prices, thats cheep. In the 90's you coukdnt find high cap ruger mags. Ruger wouldnt sell them to the public. The promags worked fine for me. Ive never known the mini to explode or the bolt to break. Even in the 90's most of the gun community was a fashion show. If you have a friend thats a machinist, all you need is the reciever. If you can hit a man size target at 300 with iron sights, and with the mini, you can, after that, its ego.
I've got a similar setup with a gilly tan Hogue stock UltiMak rail with a Burris Scout scope and Accuracy System SOCOM adjustable gas block, smoothed out 3 1⁄2 lbs with the trigger stop in 7.62x39, Yeah you should have went with the Ruger scope mounts. Nice review!
I sold my AR 15 and bought my Mini-14 580 series. I added a Mo-Reaper Muzzle Break, SOCOM Accu-Strut, Choate stock and hand guard. I love the Mini-14 over the AR because there is no blow back into my face like the AR. Also no annoying Buffer Spring noise after every shot. You are right about taxation is theft, you've earned a new subscriber.
2 things thing 1) you have to be the coolest, scariest most badass little blonde haired man i’ve ever seen. (😂) thing 2) i still appreciate you and your pro 2a content. your mini is the total opposite of mine. still dig it. well thought out, good lookin load out. (mine is a ‘99 made, stainless mini thirty. samson a-tm stock. still runnin irons for now)
I've had good results with the Pro-Mag 20 rounder mags for my 581. I think when Ruger came out with the 580 series in 2008, they did upgrade the rifle enough that the issues with aftermarket mags was corrected, either intentionally or unintentionally. But any with mine, it's been running fine with the metal Pro-Mag's. I even have a couple of 20 round polymer Pro-Mag mags which are not made any longer, and those functioned but the last shot hold open would not activate. I saw there was a bit more material on the followers so I shaved them down a bit with a knife and got that to function most of the time. But overall, I like mine, I even bought a 584 a year ago, haven't fired it yet, but I should be soon. :)
I have a newer version of this roger platform and paid 1200 tax included (I know I KnOw). Im not familiar with firearms in general and at the time of purchase wasn't sure if i wanted the mini 14 over the m1a1 scope chambered in 308 but it wasn't available at that time so I walked out with the mini... And I'm glad I did No regrets.
I feel you were a little bit spread out on this video. You want to rant. Make a rant video. I think that I agree with you, mostly. Keep going. You'll catch your stride.
This dude is awesome, your mini does look cooler than most, but the mini in general gets skull drug buy even beater ARs, look forward to seeing more from this channel
Another upside to the Mini14 is they're licensable everywhere that firearms can be licenced by civilians. I'm in Ireland 🇮🇪 and own a Mini14 though with changes to our laws prohibiting semi auto centre fire rifles now I had to convert it to be a linear straight pull action. Still, I love my mini14 and mine has become more since the conversion. What's your problem paying taxes by the way? Don't you you like driving on asphalt and well lit roads, don't you like sending kids to school or having libraries, police, fire services and all the other stuff we take for granted now. If you want to know what a libertarian society looks like, try reading Charles Dickens or Victor Hugo. If it does scare the bejesus out of you, there's something very wrong with you
Taxes ≠ Civilized. You see my thoroughly domesticated european brethren, If we want the service we'll pay for it CONSENSUALLY. Belief in self-ownership doesn't make one fearful, nor wrong. It makes one moral and intelligent. Income tax isn't going to help us reach the farthest star. Watch the video on my channel about moral law. I will respond no further.
@@Jeffersonian1975 That's not self cleaning. It still creates a lot of fouling. By the logic of the M14 being "self-cleaning", so is virtually every gas system. This term "self-cleaning" is and always will be deceptive.
@@wisemankugelmemicus1701 That is how it was described by Springfield armory, and military field manualls. The fact is, fouling from a hundred rounds out of my M14 compared to 100 rounds out of my Ak is night and day. It was designed to remove excess powder and gas, aka self cleaning. That gas system described on this video was not first craated on the mini 14. It WAS a part of the original design on the M14, and was described as self cleaning. Deceptive or not, the "facts" in this video are incorrect on this particular point
Keep your police and the roads are trash. Give me back my taxes and ill upgrade the suspension and tires on my truck and drive just fine. If they want my taxes I'd gladly agree if they earned it by doing a good job rather then doing what they want and using coercion of violence to get it. It's called being ruled with concent.
For example the town I live in, tax revenue is entirely home owners and excise taxes on vehicles, the town uses that money to completely fund our public schools which means the schools aren't held hostage with state funds over woke commie ideology(very blue state I might add) and the schools actually teach normal classes minus propaganda. Of course there are the things you mention, in town our roads are well maintained our police are well funded, do their job and have no need to collect revenue for minor frivolous civil "infractions". (No tickets for only stopping 2.5 seconds at a stop sign instead of 3) oh and we come in under budget every year. In fact we are the only town in our state to do so. The board of selectmen put every town issue up for a vote at public town meeting meaning we the people have the final say with what policy is put in place. So yeah I'm okay with paying my property and excise taces to my town because they actually work for us. Not those self serving war mongering sociopaths in D.C. or my states capitol, that is theft and results a shithole "civilization".
Yes and they keep raising them. The USA had NO income tax federally or state for a long time, that's ruined now. Gas tax, cell phone tax, cable tax, hotel tax and the list goes on and on including depending on the state state income tax.The roads suck, the schools are awful, the police are overpaid in some cases, the military is too big, the federal government is HUGE, very wasteful and many, many congressman make millions-strange.
Do you even know how taxes work? That is state taxes. Federal taxes do not typically fund those things. Do you know where your tax dollars are really being spent? I cannot stand people like you. We live in a kleptocracy and we are tax cattle. How you like those roads?
