I've waited for a while and now have one in 243, wow this cleaning procedure is quite elaborate compare to a SR556 or a AR15. I guess I'll have to watch this video a few more times while cleaning my rifle. A little more complex than what I am used to.
I just purchased the 300 win mag. Seriously can’t wait to go and start pounding targets! I noticed they didn’t show how to remove and reinstall the firing pin. Doesn’t it require cleaning? They conveniently left that out as I know it’s a pain to reassemble.
After round about 400 shots with my .308 the extractor claw break ... looks like the material have an issue ... hope it will not take to long !!!! Did you have a hint for this please ... ????
My bolt assembly has been jammed up for 6 years now and wont turn with tool. Even bought a metal tool to add more pressure, still nothing. A little annoying. Would 've been nice if I could clean it out one day.
Sir , just got RPR. Just wanted to know, does the 20moa ramp can't up in the front of scope (objective) end, or to rear of scope? Scope w 56 mm objective lense nearly touches top of hand guard.
Just made my purchase of this rifle love it so far but I am having 1 small issue. That piece that you take out of the bolt that stores the tools and is used to release the firing pin will not stay in place in the bolt. I’ll twist it and it seems secure but then I pull the bolt back a few times and the thing gets loose and will fall off when I fold the stock. Am I missing something here or doing something wrong please help !
For everyone that is complaining that this video is to difficult to understand, are the reason for gunsmiths ! If you cant change the battery or oil in your vehicle than you probably cant do this !
I cleaned mine a month ago after it came in (waited 3 months) placed a new Vortex Viper EBR 2C 6-24x50 on it last week and took him to the range 2 days ago(1/2/2016). Oh man is this rifle "SWEEEET", It is solid and recoil is like my 5.56 AR. Groups ? hell I was missing a few until I brought the target in(100yd. indoor rifle range@ Bass Pro Shop) I found that they were within each other or so close side by side that I couldn't tell from my distance away, I had to shoot away from the group to see a whole separate hole. If you have the chance BUY THIS RIFLE! After 12-13 rounds( ammo isn't cheep or easy to find-try Sportsmans guide or Cabelas ), with "LOVE" I cleaned it again- very easy to do. Hunting here I come.
I got mine before yesterday awesome I was waiting for it for two weeks yeah the dealer told me its going to be four months wait one of the dealer in Connecticut Hoffman guns for the good guys call me and told me that he got one I bought it yesterday love it
HELP!! The tool used to compress the spring on the bolt assembly came loose as I disassembled the bolt. How do I compress the spring in order to reassemble the bolt group? Is the a tool to compress the spring?
Great video. Just one problem... the very first time I've tried this, the freakin' plastic tool BROKE when I pivoted it to remove the firing pin. Now what??? Aaaaaaagh.
I ordered Anarchy Outdoors' Titanium bolt shroud and tool moments ago. While I realize the RPR is an economy-level rifle (and quite the value), that Ruger would make this tool out of cheap, flimsy plastic is a bit of a surprise. The two tabs broke off literally the first time I tried to use it (pivoting it as demonstrated in the video) to remove the firing pin assembly.
This does not work on MY ruger precision 308. The gap in the plastic tool to remove the firing pin is no where near wide enough to fit over the firing pin assembly as shown here.
+cityrice5 I used the shroud to push the firing pin cam back in until it was held in place with enough room to reinsert the tool. I then had to remove the shroud by pulling it off and then re-insert the tool so that I could reassemble the bolt, function check and vent on here about a slack video.
It popped out on me too. I closed a crescent wrench on the 2 edges of the fire pin and with the pin facing down against a table or block u can depress the spring and slip the tool back in.
This video needs to be slower paced, and have sections so that an individual can view what they need to repeatedly. There also needs to be a video on how to fix the "when the ill-fitting tool falls out because it's a joke on all of us that purchased it" resolution video. Forget about calling Ruger for support, they'll call you back....still waiting.
Be advised the tool can pop out at the slightest touch and my god damn finger got stuck in it for 3 minutes. Ruger this tool is total junk. It should be advertised as back up emergency or in field use tool AND you should supply/ send a better tool along with the rifle when purchased. And make it metal for christ sake. Next warn the end user in the video that if not extra cautious they'll end up with the firing pin attached to their finger like I did.
This video is VERY basic. Needs more camera angles, etc. 2:09 My bolt is slightly different (18029) so the doo-hicky doesn't fit well and it came out when I pulled the firing pin free. Now I'm fighting to get the spring depressed...
