Ruger Precision Rifle Rimfire "Build" and Range Day!

Reloading Bench

My previous RPR rimfire video was on all the build parts minus the RPR. Now that the RPR is home, it's time to accessorize!
I walk through the grip swap, stud mount, bipod install, muzzle brake install (a shim/peel was needed) rings install and finally the scope mount.
Then it was ready for the range. Took it out this past weekend, signet at 25 yards to see how "close" the scope was to work with in terms of getting on paper, then did the same @ 50 yards and finally 100 yards. Honestly, I had the most fun @ 50 yards, so I settled in on that for zero.
The shot groups were great and that was using Remington Golden Bullets, which I would label average 22lr...certainly not making any top 5 or even top 10 lists like others (which are more expensive) such as:
CCI Standard Velocity
CCI Subsonic HP
Norma T-22
Aguila Super Colibri
Lapua Center-X
SK Ammo
Wolf Match Target
Norma TAC-22
But, since I enjoy plinking, I'm not too picky and was more than happy with my groups.

Use Mlok in the following way. Tighten the backings all the way. Insert accessory into desired slot. Loosen Mlok until it begins to turn the backing. Reverse and tighten
@jarink1
@jarink1 2 года назад
Have to be careful on the RPR that the bolt shafts for any MLOK accessories aren't so long that they touch the barrel. If they do, it's no longer free floated and accuracy may suffer.

G'day mate. I have just purchased this rifle and I will also be installing a bipod, and fitting 4-16x44 FFP Diamondback Tactical Vortex scope. Really enjoy your natural style when presenting these videos. Subscibed. Now it's time to view more of your content. Thanks for doing these mate, appreciate it. Cheers from Australia.

Thanks. Hope you enjoy my other content as I tend to cover just about anything that catches my fancy at any point in time...but always bring it back to the core of 2A related content. Good luck with your purchase and build. Awesome fun and the boolits aren't too expensive to enjoy range time.

Just picked up a used one of these rifles. Sighted it in at 25Yrds to start (indoor range) but I plan to take it out longer as the weather improves. It had a 1-6x24 Vortex on it when purchased, but I replaced it with a Tango 4, 4-16x44 Sig Sauer. Now, 25 yards is not so clear, lol. Thanks for the video and information. I'm planning to do some of these upgrades as I get more into it. 👍

I have the .17hmr model and first thing i did was replace the pistol grip lol that thing sucks. Then i installed an ambi safety selector. Next is the mag rekease... going to an extended one. Quick and easy mlok install... prior to installing the attachments line up the tabs with slots on the rail/handguard and tighten them down so they don't rotate. Mount them on the rail/handguard then loosen them in place until the tab has backed out far enough to allow it to rotate when you try to tighten it. Tighten and torque to spec and your done my friend 👍

@@ReLoadersBench right on... no prob. Yeah the rpr is pretty awesome. I had a savage (pre accu-trigger) 93r17 stainless bull barrel but i got tired of the unreliable 7rd or 10rd capacity mags. So it got retired even though i believe it was the more accurate of the two rifles... but not by much.

Did you hone the bolt of sharp edges? And checked the trigger for edges etc? By putting some shims at the trigger you can take out the sideway movement and make it going smooth by honing it a bit. Just a bit of tuning with the available parts. Also the trigger pressure is adjustable, don’t take the spring out if you like light pull, but put another in but make sure it resets full after you pull but decide to adjourn.

I personally think that you are setting yourself up for failure because of under torque and no locktite but that is me. That being said its only a 22 so who knows. Mine comes in tomorrow so I will find out.

@ngirardo86
@ngirardo86 3 года назад
You pull the 2 receiver bolts and pull the upper off and the 2 screws holding the handguard on are then visible..simple takes 15 seconds. And you hate mlok because you don't know how to use them. They are beyond easy to install as long as you don't have the hardware too loose when installing.

I’m sure you put a lot of work into making this video. It would be helpful to mention the sizes and specs on the equipment your mounting. For instance, what kind of scope is that? What size rings are you using? Do they have a negative MOA built into them? Does your Picatiny rail have a negative MOA built into them? It’s disappointing to watch a 45 minute video just to see a dude “slap” on a scope without providing any detail.
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench Год назад
I'm guessing you skipped around the video because ALL of your "for instance" questions are shown during the video had you watched all 45 minutes of my 40:43 minute video. For example, @ 21:06 there is a CLEAR shot of the scope ring package with ALL the specs you ask about. The brand of the scope is visible as well (in addition to numerous other videos I did on this stuff prior to the build, but you probably don't want to take any extra time to check, easier to just ask redundant questions I suppose). I'm not here to provide you or anyone else an endless list of specs you feel are relevant, so if you want to know the MOA of the picatinny rail on the Ruger, head on over to Ruger's site and do some research. Take some accountability for your own learning instead of expecting/critiquing someone else for not providing it.

@ReLoadersBench

I thought the zoom was a bit “stiff” to turn until I tried to test the illunination adjustment levels...OMFG...I think I lost a layer or two of skin on my thumb and forefinger. Nice picture however.

Like the build should have saved that muzzle brake for an AR I own two of the rpr rim fires one of them hates the muzzle brake and the other one likes a muzzle brake but again because there's really nothing to it they're mostly aesthetic they have no real purpose on a 22 but still a great build I've done lots of things to mine too many trigger different hand grip bipod bolt knob

@@ReLoadersBench Right!?! I mean even though I have the means to shoot bigger, more expensive calibers, this takes the cake. I love hitting steel at distance with it. Still playing around with which ring height I want on my Vortex 6-24...don't want to miss out on scope caps, but don't want to move too high up just for that option. That's my current conundrum I'm working through. Have had it high and low and just can't make up my mind.

I did a video on the scope --> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fsF4Qgt14LA.html I'm not a fan of the smooth-ish hard plastic "standard" AR type grips (which is what was on the RPR) and found the AG-43 years ago, so it's my "go to" fav AR grip. Once you've felt it in your hand, you'd understand.
