Jerry did a 1000 yard shot with 9mm on the second attempt if I'm not mistaken. He mentioned that he was aiming 75-80 YARDS above the target to make it happen though lol talk about lob one in there
I love how concise and efficient these videos are. This one isn't even 4 minutes long and they barely talk, but in the end you know exactly what you need to know about that rifle.
@@taylorbell3213 It isn't overpriced, scopes like that from experince are insanely clear and its far easier to spot and acquire what your looking for or going to shoot at even extreme ranges 1000-2000 yards, however 1000-2000 is more 50. cal range, but most long range is done by 6.5 creedmore, 338 lapua, 408 cheytach, 416 barret, 50 cal and so on. This means besides being the clearest scopes possible they also have to be insanely precise, down to about 10,000th of a inch and they have to beable to withstand high recoil and stress while maintaing the exact zero, even 100th of a inch can throw the bullet off by feet at 1000+ yards if their is a inaccuracy.
I have this rifle as well and she’s brilliant! 147 grain Hornady is her favourite. Zero recoil. For a box rifle it’s fantastic. I have the .308 as well but it shoots minute of barn.
Well I mean its 15 pounds and has a break on it so yea.😂 I have a howa 1500 (still dream to get a rpr in .338 but the ammo is madly expensive) in 6.5cm and i love it
it took me 3 videos to subscribe to you...had to confirm you are a bad ass...excellent video platform...no bs talking or reviews...just straight up neutralizing the targets...well done!
Having shot this rifle in both .308 and 6.5 they're both superbly accurate and from what I've seen in their price range, absolutely the best rifle for the money.
Jefferson Graves I agree. I’ve got one in 6CM and a bergara hmr that I’ve rebarreled in 6.5. Both are around $900-$1000 and can’t be touched by anything else anywhere close to their price range
Thank you! M21 video will be out next week, showing our DMR standards, to complete the Practical Accuracy standards trio. Josh and I are trying to clear our schedules for more film time, not enough hours in the day!
I'm definitely looking forward to it! Just out of curiosity, where are some good ranges in the Houston area? I live here but I don't know the area too well. I have to say, the hardest part about living in the city is not being able to have your own range.
Vlad Kistler they’re all kind of restrictive honestly. I used to shoot at American Shooting Centers at Katy because I only shot on the LR side and nobody would bother the LR shooters much. You can stretch to 600 there.
This is one of the most professionally produced RU-vid channels I've seen. I have the same rifle and just shot 1,000 yards in windy Kansas. Hornady 6.5 Crdmr 147G ELD-M. Hit it on half of 10 shots. Wish I had access to a range like you do. Keep up the good work. Enjoy all of your videos.
Now the TRG series of rifles are a high priority rifle to review (and hopefully own) if the chance arises! I prefer those over the AI thumbhole/pistol grips, any and every day.
On the 23.5" barrel, the load that worked for me is : Lapua brass, 155gr Lapua Scenars, 46.0 gr Varget. Check your OAL, the mag and rifle allow to load very far out and you should take advantage of it. 2 thousands of the lands is excellent. Honestly, if I could bring my safe queen TRG22 to you for testing, I would, but crossing the 49th parallel and its borders is a pita. keep making great video!
Thanks for the intel! I'll have to try out the 155. I only run 155 palma match through my M1 Garand. what is the 155 Scenar's BC like? I generally stick with 175 SMK or TMK, depending on the distance. My LR stuff is a very long loaded cartridge that will not load into the AI magazines. Hopefully we can get a filming session for the Remington and you'll see me run a few of them!
I would say the BC for the 155 is in the .230 range for G7. Good article from the past : www.appliedballisticsllc.com/Articles/ABDOC107_3_155Lapua_Scenar.pdf In my experience, it seems to work as well as the 168-175 pills, but I have a sample size of 1 rifle and most of the shooting at the same range, with oddly similar weather patterns at all the events.
9-Hole Review. I wish we could get Dragunov's or Dragunov variants here :( A NDM-86 or Russian Tiger are my dream Comblock rifles. Maybe one day I'll get lucky.
This was the first of this video series I've seen. Wow that was pretty incredible. Especially being basically a stock weapon. In winds with up to 14 mph gusts.
Jay Gao thanks! Yeah I shot one and it was no question about it. I think the tikka and the savage are the two main competitors at that price point, but I liked the Ruger the most of the three. It’s kind of cool that they take SR25 and AI mags, of which I have lots of AI mags from my rem 700 anyways
This rifle along with 6.5 Creedmore did to long range shooting what the I phone did to smartphones. Made it mainstream. From some who learned on a 308 in the 90s moving to this allowed me to teach people in one day what took me years to master.
I had the pleasure of shooting a similar rifle last week, chambered in a .338 Lapua Magnum. Scope was a Nightforce B.E.A.S.T. 5-25x56 F1. What a beautiful rig...
Nice video!. I just discovered your channel. I've always been a big fan of the .308 for mid caliber target shooting but I've recently joined the 6.5 Creedmore cult and I'm loving it. Higher BCs, less recoil and it's a great over cartridge ☺👍
Love my RPR 6.5...I too have the little bastard muzzle brake, but I put an XTR II 5x25x50 on mine with a Harris bipod. Heavy as hell, but great for bench shooting and it can really reach out. Farthest I have shot is 700 yards as that is the longest range I can find
The 40mm is for elevation adjustment not clarity (lens quality and construction) or light (Objectives and coatings). It will gather no more light than a 25mm tube with the same objective and coating. BUT, you can wind it up to ridiculous elevations.
Great video! Live "No frills " take on production just straight shooting. Awesome. Was looking to invest in another rifle just wan't sure.. I do believe that this video just tipped the scales. Thanks.
Have fun, I enjoyed shooting one of the first Ruger Precision Rifles in 243 with a Vortex 4x16x50…yes ballistic info is definitely needed when reaching out past a grand. But using my sons built 6mm Creedmoor with the new top shelf Bushnell FFP scope proved to me that being able to see your target without mirage has got to be the main goal. Both guns were used at St. Louis Bench Rest Club in Wright City MO. Buy the best scope you can afford and practice, practice, practice.
Excellent job for using an off the self rifle. New respect for the Ruger RPR. Looks like I'll stop second guessing on it, and just pull the trigger on a purchase.
It's like it says on the box "practical accuracy" but if you want scary, watch a bench resat shooter group 5 shots in 1.3" at 1000 metres. Erik Cortina for example.
Thanks! We currently have on the publication roster: suppressed 5.56 AK "niner" -> M1 Garand -> Mk12 Mod0 (Suppressed) -> K2 -> R700 5R ->FN FAL Para -> SCAR17
Not sure how much the scope is, but I like how relatively affordable the Ruger precision and the Savage BA10 Stealth is in 6.5 Creedmoor. Both are a really good bang for the buck!
I know this will be challenged, but the recital in that scope came out of my head when this scope was specked together on Snipers hide over ten years ago.
I own two IOR Valadada scopes. They both broke and had to be sent in for repairs. One of them was sent in for repairs and it was replaced, a couple of years later the replacement broke and had to been sent in for repairs. I have a told of $4,500 (ish) tied up in these broken scopes. Kahles, NIghtforce, Vortex and or SWFA would be way better options, if you want a scope that won't break in a couple of years.
I have heard of their early scopes having spotty QC issues. Evidently some guys had their 3.5-18x scopes fall apart too, but I think their USA distro is in dallas right? And yes, love Kahles, NF, Vortex... LOVE LOVE LOVE SWFA.
I own a Gen2. Things a tac driver even with factory ammo. Hits where I want it to hit every time. Just took it out today and hit center mass at 1100 on the first round.
WOW! He hit those targets like we chew gum. Excellent spotter/shooter dialogue. How tall is your 'tower'? Does it sway a little when someone decides to 'join the penthouse"?
Andy Prariedog haha thank you! The tower does sway a little, so if people were walking around, you could see it through the scope. Luckily when it’s this hot outside, the tower foot traffic is generally cut down.
I'd love to see if the Ruger American Predator 6.5 with a 22" barrel is as accurate out of the box. It's only $365. How bout a few budget hunting rifle videos?
I have a heavy barrel rem 783 and I've only taken it out to 500 yards but it hits the gong everytime if I do my part. The budget rifles are insane when you factor in cost vs performance.
I've been trying to decide whether to get a tactical chassis for my Remington 700 30-06, or sell it and get one of these. These are freaking amazing, but I love the 30-06 caliber.
Been hearing a lot of good things about the RPR and rifles of its type. I have been wasting to get into some semi serious rifle shooting. This might be the way to go. I can have fun with my milsurps too. I think the range in the adjacent county has a silhouette range that goes to 400 or 500 yds. I am sure that would be a good way to start. Love all your videos.
I had an OG one in .243. That thing would hammer with 105's. Great gateway drug for precision rifle. Even if your not a beginner but are budget conscious. Watching this makes me miss that thing..
You make it look easy! Interesting how the experts have a habit of doing that. lol. Very nice shooting. I think you could have walked the course if there was a little bit more available information on the wind between shots.
Good man already had his required elevation numbers down on the stock all he had to do was adjust for each added 100 yards, damn good shooting though- good time spent at the range. I own this rifle with a Vortex Viper 24 x 50, it's everything you see here, hell even my reloads do well with H4350 @ 42.5gn. It just loves the Dead air Sandman-L suppressor as well :) Love this rifle.
Curious as to what your c.o.a.l. is as well as your base to ogive for loaded rounds. I would assume you have played with seating depth for accuracy in you loads, as with my RPR the lands fall at a point where if I leave .020 jump, the c.o.a.l. is to long for the magpul magazines but I get a noticeable difference in accuracy if I run a shorter coal.
