We go over the internal workings of the Ruger Security-9 and put to bed some of the more outlandish "I wish I was in the industry" claims going around the interwebs and RU-vid about this pistol.
Sorry we can't put a link back to our product page due to RU-vid's policy against firearms. Please check our Galloway Precision website for product information and purchasing.

Went shooting with my grandson a few days ago and this is his first pistol. Had some issues with extraction and stiff trigger. Got home and looked for disassembly videos and was very disappointed with what I found. Cleaned up the gun and it operated better for sure. Found your videos yesterday and subscribed. Will be ordering the upgrade parts soon. Really nice pistol for the price and worth the upgrade. Very nice videos. Thanks

Thank you very much 😂 without this video, I was searching for a gunsmith. I changed my trigger to the Galloway Seneschal. I had springs everywhere. I called it a night after a couple hrs. I watched your video and again as I was putting it back together. So many tricks like having the hammer back to working. Great video and I look forward to more as well as upgraded products. Galloway is the best! Thank you, Brandon. 😅 my security 9 is back and better with Galloway

Thanks for showing this. The design is elegantly simple, although it lacks a firing pin block thus relies solely on sear engagement to control firing mechanism. It is a matter of personal preference, but I’m not inclined to carry such a pistol and would rather rely on a pistol with more internal safety design.

Thanks for the clear easy to follow video. Just used it to fix my stepsons pistol he somehow managed to get the hammer facing forward and jamming up in the sear. This saved me money on taking it to a gunsmith.

I had to take down my ruger security 9 because the slide wouldn’t rack back or forward there was a piece of metal showing between the polymer and the metal and it was the takedown pin slide release spring. It doesn’t sit in there Keeps flying out. I already contacted ruger hopefully next week they can send a replacement. After that probably gonna sell my ruger. Last ruger I’ll own thank you for the really helpful video.

Nice overview of this. I was wondering what the difference is or why someone would want the options available on the return spring rod. I have this pistol and would like to get mine upgraded, but I’m not familiar with the pound levels and how much that matters with the options you have. Thanks.
@GallowayPrecision
@GallowayPrecision 4 года назад
The higher the spring rate the greater the reduction in the felt recoil and muzzle rise. So depending on the load you shoot the most will depend on what spring rate to go with. 115gr good quality ammunition I wouldn't go above 20lbs. 124gr and up go with the 22lb rate.

Hi, I am disabled and have sever arthritus, does the 20 or 22lb rods (Assembled Stainless Steel Guide Rod for Ruger Security 9 Pistols) does it make it less recoil? I carry for defense... thank you.

Either one will reduce the felt recoil and muzzle rise, but keep in mind it will make it harder to rack the slide.

Hi I’ve been thinking of purchasing the stainless steel guide rod for the security 9. I shoot 115 grain and up which guide rod would you recommend?
@GallowayPrecision

I wouldn't go above the 20lb rate.

How many rounds do you have through your Ruger Security 9? I would like to get some spare parts for things that might break first. Can you share your thoughts.

We've put around 1300 rounds through the first test gun without any issues, and just haven't had the chance to shoot the second test gun much at all.

Do you need the whole pistol or just the slide?
@GallowayPrecision

Just the slide, email tech@gallowayprecision.com.

question please.. why is there a hole at the back of the slide? i mean its an internal hammer-- it wouldnt be necessary to put that hole at theback right? (aesthetics wise(
@GallowayPrecision
@GallowayPrecision 6 лет назад
The slide has to have enough room for the hammer to move, and honestly it was probably cheaper to cast them that way.
