Completely agree! I just watched a video on rugged style from a RU-vidr with over 2 million subs and it was a total waste of my time. I always find value from Carl’s videos. Keep up the great work Carl!
I love the fall the weather and leaves changing colors make it something special. I miss our really bad winters though deep snow and low temps mean all those pesky mosquitos are dead.
Ugh!! Another video that confirms my discontent at being born and raised in Florida. We can't wear most of anything you cover. The videos are great and keeps me dreaming of winning the lottery and getting the Hell out of this swamp.
Outback Trading is an American company and they have some fantastic products for dressing "rugged". I'm a rancher out in MO/KS, I farm and handle some livestock. I recently bought a duster and hat in oil cloth, the hat looks similar to the one in this video except it's oil cloth and waterproof like most of their stuff. Their products are very reasonably priced and are work worthy, masculine and awesome. I wear my duster working livestock in full out rain and snow and it's amazing.
Thanks for this Carl! I’ve been looking for a review of the trucker jacket as I’ve been eyeing it for almost a year. Going to pull the trigger this month! Keep up the good work.
I totally agree with Autum is the best season for style which is CRAZY for me to say since all I used to wear is shorts and a Tee all year around. This season I am rocking my slim fit jeans in black, grey or dark blue. Check shirts or wool jumper. Dr Marten 6 eyelet rustic brown boots (Thursday Captains on the way) and my waxed Barbour Duke in Rustic Brown. Looking for a cool hat, probably going for the Barbour waxed flat cap. Perfect style for North East England👌which is why I love Barbour being based up here.
Yesss! Loved your summer video. Rad to see one for Fall. Autumn is my favorite season too, although its been quite mild here in CA. 85 degrees today. LOL
I splurged on my fall gear: Real McCoy's 1941 army chinos, Flat Head flannel shirt, Flat Head horsehide biker jacket, Pherrows loopwheel sweat, Merz B Schwanen army tee, Viberg service boot topped by an Art Fawcett fedora. They'll probably outlast me.
Great video! As I'm now in my 40s I'm looking to dress a bit better. I have some Nick's Urban Loggers boots on order and I think flannel is what I need. I've checked out our flannel video already although I'm still not quite sure what I want.
From what I've seen so far I would agree. The quality control is definitely better with the uniform stitching and leather selection. I'm interested to see how they hold up over time, how long have you been rocking yours?
@@CarlMurawski I have had them for 6 months now. They have held up well and have begun to darken somewhat naturally. I have only used bicks conditioner on them. They are not the most comfortable, my AE higgins mill hold that crown, but the profile on them works better for certain pants. I bought mine in natural and they came much darker than the pic. The leather has creased a bit on the vamp but it looks fine.
I live in Manhattan I'm always passing that store they have great sales in the summer it's the best time to buy winter and fall clothes. And in the fall like last week of September it's the best time to buy summer clothes. You save a lot of $$$
Another good one Carl thanks. I’ve got some Flint and Tinder duck pants with double fronts that are pretty great. They’re a little trimmer than Carhartt which is good for a slim guy like me. Sometimes I feel like I’m swimming in fabric with some wider cuts.
Excellent video, Carl. The rustle of autumn's colorful leaves and the chilled autumn air compliments a man's rugged style. Interestingly, casual style can be as expensive as semiformal. Autumn lends itself to dressing in style. Time for a walk in the woods or fireside cup of coffee with a friend or significant other.
Morgans in nc is my hands down store to get all the above. Great video, wish I would have found this channel sooner. Taylor (best damn edc) recommended you on his channel
American Hat Makers Cowboy Hat $140 Filson wester vest $250 Dixxon flannel $60 Brave star jeans. $100 Frye 8in Harness boot $400 That’s my fall outfit of choice.
You can buy most of huckberrys catalog on sale out of season for the following year if you can wait that long before you can wear it . I'm lucky in that as their sale items are for the season I'm heading into
As much as I don't like below 60F (I prefer warmer climates like 70-80). 50-60s are the best for fashion. I live in SF and I get to dress up all year round. And unlike the 18 years i spent in NJ and NYC growing up, i use my clothes all year round. I can easily justify buying a $300 boot or leather jacket because I can wear it here in SF everyday. Back in NJ once spring and summer happened it would be too warm for boots and jackets.
Huck berry has some absolutely beautiful stuff... so long as you are an XXL or smaller. Can you point me at a shop that can accommodate me and my viking brothers - taller than six feet and pushing 280?
$1000.00 outfit is a budget outfit 😳 damn must be nice to have that kind of budget!! I’m one of those people who hate the cold, anything below 70 degrees i don’t like, give me hot weather all day every day!!
Awesome the intro reminded me a bit of a badass cowboy walking into battle with his repeater on his shoulder and his revolver at the ready my favorite is the hoodie.... Also can you do a opinion on video game males like Arthur Morgan, or even Nathan drake and break down their styles
Huckberry may be a good store but I do not appreciate being pressured to give personal information just to browse their goods on their website. I guess I’m just old school. BTW you left enough meat on the bone for Allen Edmonds or Thorogoods..
Hey Carl, what brands make steel toe boots that are similar to the iron ranger? I never get to wear my iron rangers because I’m always at work and steel toe is required. I found the redwing supersole and the wolverine journeyman Supermax but there is something about them that’s not doing it for me. Do you have any other ideas or thoughts?
I have to ask: regarding wearing an oilskin jacket in wet and cold weather, is it comfortable wearing just a brimmed hat? I find that while sitting around the campfire in late fall/winter, I need a hooded jacket to protect me from the cold wind.
Hey Carl I love your channel! Found it like two days ago and must have watched bout 30 of ur videos already lol was wondering how tall you are. I’m 5’7 190..mostly muscle, wear a 32 waist...you make everything look great and I love your style and hoping it can work for me as I reset my wardrobe lol anyways keep it up great job
Thanks man! I'm very similar proportions, approximately 5' 8" 190 and I've definitely found ways to work around the typical "athletic fit" which is too slim for me. I hope you've found these videos helpful!
I love Flint and Tinder. I got their Henley and moleskin shirt jacket(recommended by fragrance bros). I want to get their suede trucker jacket, I'll wait for it to go on sale.
Alright buddy, I have watched enough of your videos with nothing in return. You got yourself a new sub. Any suggestions for a diesel truck technician boots? Must be very oil resistant, and hard wearing. Also, needs to be a safety toe per company rules.
Hey Carl, loving your channel and your insight. I was wondering if you had any advice on how to keep warm in construction work. My dad works in construction and he always complains about the cold. I don’t know what to buy to keep him warm since I honestly have no experience in working in construction. Any advice would be appreciated
It's a common problem, and one I'm all too familiar with. Check out the brand Refrigerwear for some very nice warm stuff in hi-vis. There is also the Carhartt Arctic series which is completely new for this season and has even more insulation. Finally, I used the battery powered Milwaukee jacket last year, and layered it under another coat when things REALLY got frigid. Also make sure to check out the video I made on keeping warm, it covers all this and more.
Much love to pops! Another great option is a good set of base layer pieces. Silk is VERY warm, and I think I listed some good places to get base layer stuff in that video.
Have you tried Allen Edmonds factory seconds I'm looking at getting their higgins mill model boot. If theres any scuffs on it, it doesn't matter since they'll be an everyday boot.
Thank you for sharing Carl….I love every thing you share with us. Much thanks Brother. Where is this store? I looked for it and I couldn’t find it on Google maps do you have the address or phone number? Thanks
Right on man! Those socks sound interesting. How do they compare to fox river or darn tough? The website setup makes it easy to see which products are made in the good ole USA before even clicking on them too. Really convenient.
This is great. I do think the blake-stitch is an odd choice for Autumn, though. At least here in Colorado we've already gotten two snow storms up to eight inches. I'm sure it's pretty common to get some snow around this time of year around most of the Northern Hemisphere. So wouldn't you want the water proof advantage of the good year welt?
This is the most I'd spend on my best stuff. Here's what I don't get right, If your out doing manley things like chopping down trees you're not going to want to do it in this stuff right, as who's going to care what you look like plus if I'd spent all that on clothes I wouldn't want to ruin them. I don't think it looks all that stylish so I doubt you"ll impress the lades with it either so you've paid a lot of money to look average.
You've neglected to recognize that some of us dress for ourselves, and our women like our style. Workwear is entirely different than rugged style though: one is form before function, the other prioritizes the look of heritage and rugged style we enjoy.
Mr. Murawski, in the summer, you discussed possibly reviewing flannel shirts, I know that I am flannel ignorant only knowing the likes of Woolrich and Filson.
I just shot the video and I'll be uploading either this week or next. Check out the LL Bean signature flannels, the Iron Heart Ultra Heavy Flannels, and Kato Brand flannel shirts for a good variety of prices and styles.
Carl!! Legend! Great video! Noticed you said Autumn- thought you across the pond said Fall? Are the brits trying to take over? Big love from 🏴 England!
I notice you switch from calling it autumn and fall. I know you Americans call it fall but I've never heard any of you call it autumn. Obviously here in UK it's just called autumn. Just an observation.
English often has two words for the same idea, one Latin (or French) and one German. This reflects the history of the language. “Go” is Germanic, “travel” is French. In the same way “autumn” is Latin, “fall” is Germanic.
$893 is the total for this outfit.. who can even relate to this.. walking around with practically a 900 dollar outfit or just 7 dollars shy of that.. bro no one can afford that and who would want to wear it out if we did.. that’s a cost of a suit a nice one to..
I understand this thought, and it all depends on perspective. In fact, I've been waiting for this comment to respond properly. This whole channel is based around the idea of buying less but better, and having something for a long time. Treating purchases like investments. There is an old saying that $100 shoes will last a year, $200 shoes will last 10 years, but $300 shoes will last the rest of your life. Keeping in mind this philosophy, you can apply it to anything- tools, food, or your house. I want to be clear however that I don't mean overpriced "fashion" brands since they're mostly junk. I want to provide you with options that may cost more but will serve you many years into the future, or possibly beyond! This is where I like to propose the idea of "cost per wear" and how its actually cheaper to buy higher quality. My father bought a Filson Mackinaw cruiser back in the 1970s and wore it all the time. I now use that coat in the winter and it's held up great! So if you consider the price of the coat divided by the times he and I have worn it, it's very cheap! On the other hand, a $100 jacket simply isn't built to the same standard and won't last as long. So while I understand the issue of price, and how we all have different financial scenarios, we're better off buying things we'll have for a long time. Sometimes that's expensive, and sometimes it's not. I hope that makes sense, no hate intended man.
Most people are also likely not buying the whole outfit at once. High quality stuff is an investment and you may start with a mix of more affordable necessities and this sort of gear and then build it up over years.
I’m usually in 25 dollar Prison Blues with suspenders. A ten dollar T-shirt or a hickory shirt and 500 dollar boots. Whites, Nicks or Wesco. Or camo Crocs.
I’m with Carl in that if you buy right you only have to buy an item once to last a long time. Well made items get better with age and don’t have to be replaced every year or two. I personally hate buying the same stuff over and over so I’m down to spend a little extra for something quality.
